When can we get the teleporting spell that the Elezen (sp) uses in the intro video?
It would be nice if we could teleport players in our party to us, to another location or some other teleporting function.

Pretty sure he's sending them 5 years into the future. If we had a spell that could do that, your ilvl would be way outdated after each use.
.... "The Elezen"? Gods above, that's Louisoix you're talking about. The man who single-handedly saved every one of us adventurers from Dalamud. The man who sent each and every one of us off to fight the primals, who had us traipse around the old, bigger Eorzea praying to the symbols of each guardian deity in hopes that they would stop Dalamud from killing us all.
THAT is who "the Elezen" is. It's sad to see such recent history so ignored.
Louisoix used all the power he had left within him to teleport us 5 years in the future after realizing that Bahamut was too powerful to be sealed by the Twelve again and consequently started casting Megaflare. I really don't think we, as simple adventurers, have it in us to sacrifice our lives for a simple teleport.
Anyway, if you want to move someone with you when you use the universal non-class specific teleport, they simply need to be in your party and in the same location. Unfortunately you can't teleport anyone directly to you, but if you tell them an Aetheryte near you they're likely to get to you in ~5 mins.
To be honest i did not know the teleport was some kind of time teleporting spell, as it was never explicitly stated it was time travel.I have finished the main storyline right to the end and have read and (to a lesser extent) listened to all dialogue. But i did not find anywhere, how his teleport somehow saved all 5 of those people (that is all that is seen being teleported) when the Bahamut dragon seemed so immensely powerful as to affect everyone on the world regardless where.
But what i was originally requesting, was more robust forms of teleport, including those in my party. For example, i have a buddy with me in a party that i want to assist me with X quest mob/FATE/etc. I use this teleport to bring him directly to me and not an Aetheryte crystal 5 minutes ride away.
The reasoning i had was, if this guy could teleport those 5 guys elsewhere in the world (before you guys stated it was also a time travel) surely we could have that capability at some point too.
Alchemy item: "Summoning item:[Name of player you can be summoned to]"
You could craft said item as Alchemist and they are all stamped to you specifically. You can trade/market/mail them to ppl. Then you just activate it and they click accept or deny to appear at your current location using similar scripting as the raise spell.
As people have said, I don't think it is likely we will get that spell, since it was something that the Twelve lent him. I know it's really REALLY hard to notice, but the moment he casts the teleport spell, you can see Althyk the Keeper's symbol. Althyk is the god of space and time, which is why with this fraction of a second in which the symbol appears, it was made obvious he had taken us in time.

lol ^^ well, you could tell it looks like an hour glass, so one could assume such a thing. But yeah,I don't blame ya for not noticing. Back in 1.0 we really didn't know much about the gods either, other than at near the end, their symbols started appearing in different places.
I'm hoping they'll eventually introduce something like the Nexus Cape from XI... teleport to party leader's location (or nearest home point crystal or zone line)
As for the clues about the timeline... if I remember right, several of the trailers covered it. Recall a voice over stating "5 years have come and gone...", you watch scenes from around the realm as narration talks about how the realm has changed, "...an adventurer arrives in Eorzea...", and then you see the party teleport in. At the very least, it strongly hints at what happened to them. They've been edited in the current release of the game, but I think the progression was retained in one of the videos that runs when it goes into attract mode if you sit idle long enough.
Well even that hourglass symbol is incredibly hard to notice - and to be honest, someone like myself would simply assume that the spell just looks like that and was never intended to display any symbolism at all.
What frustrates me to no end, is that there seem to be almost no information or background further back than the ''calamity''. It is like the world was created during the calamity. And there are no background or information on the gods either - only that they are there and there function.
Not thoroughly enough, then. A lot of sidequests and dungeon flavor text tell us about the past civilizations of the Allagans, Sil'dihns, Belah'dians, and Gelmorrans. The Monk questline gives you an npc that teaches you a history of war in Eorzea. Various NPCs will tell you bits and pieces of things about the Twelve, and you can even find their symbols scattered around the world if you look.
Edit: Found this on the lore forum if you're interested. A timeline of every major event in Eorzean history.

Since I can't find the video where Louisoix explains everything about 1.0, here's a video from Mr. Happy:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b6G7LyLv1cg
The event where Bahamut comes down and reeks havoc was the final cutscene of 1.0 when the servers were shut down. The events of 2.0 take place directly after, the heroes of 1.0 forgotten - only known now as the Heroes of Light.
guessing the dialogues/descriptions weren't read very closely, nor were the videos/CS paid much attention. A lot of information is revealed through opening cinematics, character creation, main story, side stories, and job specific quests. A ton of it is recapped also on partner sites, Youtube, etc. Maybe we need more goblin NPC's for the cinematic recalls like we had in XI? Those guys were EVERYWHERE in XI.
The most recent quest i completed (mostly because i must have missed it on my first run through) was the ''Gentleman'' quest that starts in one of the main cities and tells of someone trying to prevent the calamity from happening. It is quite vague and short.
No, i think the biggest problem is that if you were to convert all written text from dialogue into book form, it would probably be a bigger volume than LOTR full book. Trouble is, it isnt all the same story as that book is. More like 1000 different unrelated segments of history from the past 5 years. Very little prior to the calamity.
Final Fantasy 14 FFXIV A Realm Reborn Story The Waning of the Sixth Sun
Gotta love Google and Youtube.... just saying, there's plenty of info out there if you really want to know. Everybody and their brother has a wiki or blog up it seems, not to mention tons of videos on the youtube channels. Heck.. even SE has videos out there that you can link to from within the Lodestone (What is Final Fantasy XIV/Media, then go to the Trailers section).Quote:

I don't know how you're missing all of it, but there's a lot of information of history before the Calamity. To name a few:
-The war between Ul'dah and Sil'dih over water that ended in a zombie apocalypse for the Sil'dihn civilization (the ruins are in Central Thanalan).
-The Autumn War between Gridania and Ala Mihgo, which brought us the Grand Companies, chocobo barding, and the adventuring profession (to give out of work soldiers something honest to do).
-The rise of the Garlean Empire, their sudden advancements in technology, and their conquering of Othard and Ilsabard.
-The Battle of Silvertear Skies in which the Garlean fleet was swarmed by Midgardsormr and a horde of dragons over Mor Dhona. The resulting ceruleum explosion of the downed Agrius blew the aetheric seal on Silvertear Lake apart and unleashed the Primals and killed the land of Mor Dhona.
-The Gelmorran civilization that dwelt underground in the Black Shroud because the Elementals refused to let them live in the forest. Eventually Gelmorra evolved into Gridania but left behind the Tam-tara Deepcroft and the Thousand Maws of Toto-Rak.
-The Nymian civilization and their constant war with Amdapor, in which they repeatedly came out victorious despite smaller numbers because of their Scholar magic. The Amdaporians eventually killed themselves due to reality-warping magic. The Nymians fell to the tonberry plague.
-The biggest of all is the Allagan civilization and what exactly happened to them. The Crystal Tower and the moon Dalamud (and subsequently, the Binding Coil of Bahamut) were both built by them.
Only fragments of those topics i have personally seen in quests. If i had to take a guess how many quests on this character, i have not completed (due to completely missing them) i would say under 10 total in the entire world.
I have completed - at a guess - 95% of all quests within the game. This means i have read countless quest dialogues, watched cutscenes and other such information.
The extent to which the subjects you mention are discussed is akin to nothing more than in passing. ''This area once used to be the dominion of XYZ civilisation. I need you to go there and do XYZ.'' <-- this is the entirety of what the quests i have completed talk about those topics. Great, they MENTIONED a civilisation's name. But that does not encompass its history. Not in the least.
Uh, please correct me if I'm wrong, but it was my understanding that the Age of Adventuring began following the Battle of Silvertear Skies (due to the build up of mercenaries that arrived in preparation for a Garlean invasion of Eorzea proper that never eventuated, and hence the Adventurer's Guild was then formed to supply employment for these now unemployed and heavily armed men and women).
The original game's manual states this and the official website used to as well, as shown:
I know the Autumn War did involve the other citystates allying with Gridania though, but from what I was aware (based on the above info and other sources) the title and status of 'adventurer' didn't exist in the way we now know them at that point in time.Quote:

Didn't really want to do WAR/PLD to 50, but once I got them going I got sucked into the stories and will have to finish them eventually. Probly have to bite the bullet and do SCH eventually too, but holding off on that until some old XI friends join. That way I have something I can use when we take them through their first runs and I can be on their level to make it more fun. I'm also looking forward to being able to switch allegiance to the other nations one day so I can get the extra fillers from the other nation's early quests as well. It's a pretty short track until they merge into the GC story line, so they aren't nearly as in depth as they were in XI, but I'm sure there are some nice nuggets of background info in there just the same.
We will never forget...

I was referring to the NON-class specific quests actually. I know the quests exists for SCH, THM, BLM, etc etc but the 95% was in fact a correct estimate when NOT including class specific quests.
I have literally only just finished the SMN quests and i have each and every one of those class quests clearly in my mind. The story of those have almost no relevance to the history of Eorzea. Yeah great, my character is following in the footsteps of age old Summoners and their Egi summons are what power they once held, their clothing are considered relics of their particular age etc etc. But that is just so incredibly vague and spartan in story. It tells me almost nothing of the Allagan (sp) relics with which are now my character's clothing.
THIS is what i refer to. The entire story of the Summoner quest series tells me almost NOTHING of ANY of Eorzea's history. Apart from ''yeah this stuff is old''.
Actually, there are tidbits to fill in some of those gaps on the job specific quests, as Sholah was telling you earlier. You also get focused background on certain areas based on what city-state you start in... why I'm looking forward to SE eventually implementing a mechanic like we had in XI for easily switching allegiance so we can experience the extra content. If it is already in there, haven't hit it yet... but I still have a lot of ranking up to do as well.
Here's the Great Question.
The Allags had the tech, and the power, to construct Dalamud and imprison Bahamut.
Why didn't they destroy Bahamut instead?
Narrative Causality? Plot Armor? It only makes sense, when you've captured bloody Megatron you break him down into his constituent molecules. You don't just wrap him in chains and dump him in the Challenger Deep.
They had the other primals imprisoned under Silvertear too. As far as the elemental primals go, they can't be killed forever. It's possible Bahamut has a similar situation and they were keeping him in a corporeal state so he couldn't be resummoned. It's also possible they were weaponizing him and had him up there as their ace-in-the-hole, given the armor/restraints he's wearing... The BCoB story touches on this too.
One thing i do plan to do though, is redo every quest in the main story from all 3 GC's perspectives and record it all - INCLUDING the quest text - which NO ''lets play'' does. They focus on what occurs only within the cutscenes - in other words the entirety of what anyone who completed the main story, could simply access in their inn.
The game are even make for ask you to pick deity when create character. How you are for have no knowledge of them? Are you buy character from website?
You can buy characters for this game? Already? Damn. I thought that the purchase of premade characters would take much longer considering the sheer amount of time required to reach max level.
As for that description - it isnt very in depth and it does not discuss the relevance to the world of Eorzea with which you will inhabit.
