PLEASE notify us of the person who motions to abandon the duty.

Please. And i'm not even talking about the abandon spammers, which are also a good reason for this. It's just really, really annoying to lose a single run and have some guy spend every other moment ruining morale of the party by spamming to abandon.

The person who does it almost NEVER admits to doing it, and on the off chance they do, it's almost always a Tank or Healer. Naturally, since they don't have to wait 6 years to retry the duty.

I'd much rather just kick the person who wants to leave then have to suffer abandoning duties that would be just fine if people would quit expecting to be in a carry party.

As much as I would like to know this as well purely so I can kick idiots that just spam, it would lead to abuse of anyone outside of FC groups, even when the vote to abandon is valid.

Vote Abandon still works on majority vote. There's nothing to abuse. If one person leaves then everyone else is allowed to quit penalty free.

If you're motioning to abandon the duty, your main goal is leaving the duty anyway. If you get kicked, you still get what you wanted. And releasing the name of who started the motion doesn't give the others enough knowledge to eliminate people who disagree.

Not happening, being that this is a Japanese-developed game and the Japanese are extremely uncomfortable with anything that impairs group cohesion. Would be nice though.

Vote Abandon is probably the single most anti-cohesive thing in the game.

It lets you anonymously signal to your entire team that you think the mission is a lost cause...with no limitations....with the intent of breaking the group up.

Yes, let's single out the individuals who want to quit a failed run simply so we can all point fingers and bulk out our blacklists... I don't think.

The very reason it's anonymous is to prevent people being singled out. Removing this would lead to all sorts of verbal abuse hurled at anyone who votes for abandonment, possibly even a permanent blacklist. Just deal with the frustration and get over it. If they really want to quit, chances are they'll do it anyway when the vote fails.

Is there no CD for it? Or was that for kicking a player only?

Yep, no cooldown. They can spam it endlessly, and there's no way to know who to report for the harassment.

Maybe it wouldn't matter if there was an alliance-wide cooldown of like 10 minutes or so.

Nothing wrong with abandoning when the majority votes YES.

However, spamming it when it failed to pass vote is really just harassment.
There is a cooldown but it's extremely short.

So much drama will be generated out of that so it won't happen.

Drama if you do, drama if you don't. Compare it to taking a long drive somewhere with some people with impossibly high standards of travel.

In the event that its a yes, then no drama as the sentiment was shared. However if nothing changes, and people still want to have a crack at the content despite one individuals desires, then its just annoying as they keep wanting something that they won't get. Yet, they will keep doing it. I've had an entire CT run (which was completed mind you) with someone spamming it for an unknown reason. We assumed because the run was a bit more chaotic than usual, and there was a hick with skeleton spread on the Bone dragon which caused 1 solitary wipe in the entire dungeon.

There should be a 5 min CD on this at the very least. If someone really want to leave, let them suffer the perfectly acceptable penalty.

What if they vote to abandon, the vote fails, so they go AFK to get vote-kicked (or worse, verbally abuse others to get vote-kicked)? Look, no penalty! Penalty timers are a bad idea. I understand why they're there but I think they do more harm than good. People wouldn't NEED to spam vote abandon (or resort to the above method) if the penalty timer was removed. People want to have fun playing this game. Duty isn't fun (for whatever reason). Player leaves duty. Player can't have fun for 30 min. Penalty timers are fun-destroying.

I'm curious though. What if a player initiates vote abandon, the vote fails, and the player speaks up and just ASKS to be vote-kicked, something like "Look, I don't want to get a penalty for leaving duty but I'm not having fun here. I understand that you all want to complete this instance. I could just go AFK or be a jerk until you vote-kick me but can't we just skip all that and you all vote-kick me?"

Does that count as vote-kick abuse? What reason would the other players put? Is anyone breaking any rules here? What happens if the player says nothing and goes AFK (to get vote-kicked)? Would it be any different if they said the above to get vote-kicked?

I'm just curious because the whole system seems wonky to me and all easily avoided by removing the penalty timers.

Nope, wrong. There is a cool-down of 2-3 minutes. If it's being spammed constantly then it means more than one person is doing it.

Except that people are lazy sheep and don't bother reading, so they just click the "Yes" button just to get the big huge thing that just popped up on their screen out of their way.

There's no need to, just report the entire party / alliance including reason (harassment by spaming "Vote Abandon"), duty and times (LT, ST, ET). Devs should be able to check out the violator and take actions against her/him if necessary.
