What are you looking forward to next week?

Hello Community,

High noon on Friday! At least here in the CST zone, and as I sit here eating my lunch I can't help but think about what next week might bring.

Next week will mark the end of the "Mid-Late June" Time Frame that was first mentioned in the letter from Yoshi-P (#9) posted on May 2, 2011. It will also mark the beginning of the "Early-Mid July" Time Frame mentioned in our last letter from Yoshi-P on June 14th (#11).

While I don't expect a patch next week, I am hopeful that we will get some further communication. We may be due for a new Letter from the Producer next week as we have gotten approximately 2 per month this far and Monday will mark exactly 2 weeks from our last communication from Yoshi. Recent focus, in my opinion, has been on details surrounding Dungeons. The question is, what will the Dev Team touch on next? It seems to me that the Devs have been a little bit more tight lipped than usual this month, our first round of details didn't come until the middle of the month. A week following that we were given some minor details about the dungeons, but it contained little more than the Dungeon's names, required levels, and the prerequisite quest that will be required (I can only speculate) to enter the dungeon.

What do you hope to see next week? Company info updates? Details on systems in development? Details on the job system? Details on the mount system?

You tell me!

I haven't logged on in about 1.5 weeks and have been playing other things. My excitement is gone, replaced by skepticism of what we will see in the next big patch.

2 Dungeons, Auto Attack, New Animations, no chocobos, no airships, no mail system. Will those 2 dungeons be enough to gain our interest long enough to bring in more content? I doubt it, but we'll see.

still digging out other things confirmed to be in next patch, and thats just what we know

Super Street Fighter 4 Arcade Edition for the PC.

Amazon lied about their preorder date (24th June) so I'm guessing it'll be another week or 2.

Agreed. No one has a comprehensive list of what is actually coming in 1.18. We only know what has been confirmed.

A long term plan akin to what they did in 11 would help.

But it seems that yoshi p is taking to heart cries that we want screenshot and videos worth of development. I want more of this, detailing how the job systems and materia system works.

once the overhaul is done and content can become the MAIN focus i bet we do get a nice long term plan

but when you gotta do a ton of other stuff in between, and thus killing any timeline you can promise, you tend to not do so

Well yeah, I wouldn't want a timeline promised that they can't keep. But the last letter was a nice touch, certainly wasn't vauge with what's coming up.

Don't forget "quest hubs" to make zones more unique. Also, I don't expect fatigue to be removed next patch. It very well could be, but I have a feeling they will be monitoring it once more before removing it. I do hope they remove it though and monitor how THAT works instead and adjust SP in 1.19 if there are any issues.

quest hubs werent promised for 1.18(yet), they were "upcoming" things to be added

also, fatigue removal was in fact confirmed already, so it is going in 1.18

Next weekend is a three day weekend. That's what I'm looking forward to.

I hope they touch up on how god awful their server hardware/software is since all of their answers for BASIC functions that every MMO has is "it's too hard to implement with the current servers."

Could you support that with a direct quote? I'm not trying to be a jerk. I just think I missed that. I know it is coming, but I don't remember anything being said that it will be removed in 1.18 indefinitely.

Edit: Also, in the 9th letter that previewed the quest hubs, it was slated for patch 1.18. The quest hubs that were said to be in 1.19 are the beast tribe hubs. Of course, this doesn't definitively confirm the hubs for Limsa, Thanalan, and Shroud, but with all the development time given to them between 1.17 and 1.18, I feel it's possible to incorporate them. We'll see.

i dont wanna dig through the dev tracker to find it(its in there somewhere)

but yoshi specificaly said it was being removed alongside the addition of the new dungeons

i believe it was also retouched on in a few more recent dev posts

You may be right. I think it's better to remove it and monitor how it works out along side the new battle changes than the other way around. It would be much easier to balance if there are any issues with progression.

It wasn't 'promised' for patch 1.18, but it was 'insinuated' that we would get Quest Hubs in 1.18 in letter #9 (http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/threads/9220)

He mentions they are planning to release them (without giving a date) and then goes on to talk about Beast Tribe Equivalents to quest hubs but says: "We also have some beast tribe versions in the works, but it’s looking like those will have to wait until 1.19."

To me, that says "You'll get the Uldah, Limsa, And Grid hubs in 1.18 and the beastman hubs in 1.19," but that is without the support of a direct quote saying as much.

Personally I want more info, for jobs, mounts, companies, materia, battle, etc.

I would like a release date for the patch too, but I don't expect that yet, in fact, I'd rather have them deliver a solid patch, then appease my hunger for dates.

That being said, I would like some info on what they plan to do with the current setup of guild leves, and how they plan to address the known issues of the game, and what kind of time frame we can expect for LS management tools, along with the list of other issues.

I hope we get a producers letter, and perhaps some more previews of things that are too come, but only if the patch is close at hand, because if I have to wait another three weeks or so, then I'd rather wait to learn this info until the patch is only a few days away.

Will there be a huge celebration event to coincide with patch 1.18 ?? I liked the last event and it seems hopefully there will be reason to celebrate or at least commemorate this time for Eorzea.
I'm also looking forward to Black Shroud being burnt to the ground by the Empire! Can we get some echo action going on to experience that? >:D

The OP didn't state that he expected the patch next week. Although, it could very well come next week since that will be 2 weeks from mid June. Most people are anticipating the first week of July to be the patch though. So, don't get anyone wrong. We're mostly on the same page.

I think that if we don't get a release date next week, we HAVE to get one the week after, or at least a post letting us know if it has or has not been pushed back.

I actually said that in my original post, but thank you for looking our for me ;)

next week we might get some more jucy details on what else is in 1.18 and probably the week after we will get the patch.

the only thing that lingers in my brain anymore about this game is how long everything takes.

from 6 years of development, to 10 months of minor tweaks, to even postponing the one patch that could start an influx of players.

just how hard is it to develop for this game engine and how many people are working on this project?
these wait times are just not realistic for any MMO gamer.

3 day weekend? Not really expecting much from SE on this game for about 2 years. And at that point it will be a foot note with the games that will be out at that point.

Next Week? ANIME EXPO!!! wooot... oh you mean FFXIV... more update info on 1.18 and any future plans... job system info...

I'm definitely looking forward to hearing more news about patch 1.18. It's like a temporary fix for that crave you know you want to satisfy.
