Diabolos for me after Fenrir was my second favorite summon. Loved him in FF8 and in FF11.
The question is what roll do you think he will play in FF14.

If he is added I hope he's just like the primal of nightmares.
I hope there is a acid trip styled dungeon that leads up to him, like twisting hallways and then all of a sudden TRAP DOOR! and then a room full of spikes, but it was all a dream and you're still in the hallway! WHhhhhhhaaaaaaaaaat?!
...but something like that would never happen.
If added, hope they are a primal. The avatars for summons just look awful...
Woulde be awsome, one of the coolest summons.
Could be tied with the voidsent.
I'm still disappointed Siren is not summonable. And with the news that perhaps they'll add a levi egi in the future, Siren is pretty much doomed to never appear in egi form.
Diabolos could easily be the Voidsent Primal, one of the Elder Primals like Belial and Bahamut...
Currently, I have a hunch Diabolos will be the boss for Amdapori Township. One might expect a fungal boss, but that's only the exterior of the place, there were also shots of a dark indoor (underground?) section.
They said we'd be uncovering the great evil that destroyed the Amdapori civilization, and the Amdapori themselves were said to use reality bending magicks. Diabolos is, well, evil looking, and is typically associated with magic such as Demi. Just a hunch, but yeah, I wouldn't get my hopes up for Diabolos as a Primal.
He'd be a perfect boss fight in a Haukke Manor type setting. Building up of what Dravion said, maybe having a Haukke Manor extreme mode, and he's the guy you face at the end. I absolutely love Haukke Manor... Diabolos is a dark, evil 'demon' type, and he'd fit right in with the girls in Haukke Manor... ;D
Diablos egi = a bat, that looks like Diablos head.
Or just a red/black Garuda-Egi, with Diablos mask/wings.
Uhm, i'd wish we could fight him, in the Void...
The instance is a bit like BCoB.
You walk around on platforms, hovering in the void.
But with black-purple flames, erupting from the abyss, below

I'd like him to be a nightmare Primal/Boss battle. Maybe when you first log in, if you slept in a bed at the inn (or housing) you could sometimes be randomly thrown into a fight with Diabolos alongside others just logging in.
Obviously it would need a bit more thought put into it than that, but it's something a bit different :)
I see Diabolos being some big Voidsent demon rather than a Primal. Similar to how Siren isn't a Primal, but rather a very powerful monster. I think it be cool to have him but I don't remember if there is a darkness element which he'd be perfect for. If not then I kinda just see him as some super demon to face off against in an environment like Tam-Tara or Haukke Manor Extreme.
The better question is which beast tribe diabolos belong to? I always thought that diabolos belong to the qiqirn
Get use to the disappointment, we saw concept art of Siren and Fenrir over a year ago and in 2.0 Siren was relegated to being a boss of a Light House. Chances are Fenrir will simply be a boss as well. Wouldn't be surprised if Diabolos is relegated to boss duties, after all we're not going to see tons of Egi summons with the current armoury/abilities system. As it stands there will be a Leviathan Egi, Ramuh Egi, and possibly Shiva Egi coming from the Primals of the Beast tribes. But these Egis will not appear until there's either a level cap raise or more abilities are added to every class because the number of abilities for each class/job is staying consistent...no special treatment. Ultimately don't be surprised if Fenrir and Diabolos are not Primals or Elder Primals and are relegated to sub-roles being stuck in a Dungeon that will eventually be replaced with one better simply because of the number of new tomestones obtained when newer and or hard modes of dungeons are added.
From knowledge, not "or". "And". Level Cap raise AND new skills for all classes is what I believe they said. Would need a level cap raise to have it make sense in terms of progression, and all Jobs would need the same amount of new skills.
New EGI, though believed to be set in stone, don't really have any clearly defined "Yes"s from the developers. I do want Leviathan EGI though.
