because ffxiv is just a generic mmo with a FF skin? it is the same reason why anything that deviate from the prototypical theme park design is shunned and put on the backburner
Actually, Libra was added into FFXI eventually in a patch - it's a White Magic spell for SCH. However it doesn't work the same way as it does in earlier titles (it's just a spell for viewing a target's enmity level - as ARR already has enmity gauges by default anyway Libra would be superfluous if it made this way.). Really, there's little need for Libra given the fact target weaknesses are minimal, if not non-existent, and most of the other relevant information is already shown on the screen anyway.
Scholar has Libra ability that as said was a scan like usual but only for enmity levels. Scholar in XI that is, since yeah, Scholar in XI at least attempted to be the same Scholar of FF.

But yeah, this is a generic MMO with FF skin, don't expect the class/Job system to really be much of anything other than an illusion at this point.
Why not FFXIV? what purpose would it serve? None of those stats outside of HP would actually matter... and we can see an accurate enough representation in the health bar. I'm all for SE adding useful things and new content to the game, but let's stick to things that actually enhance the game in meaningful ways.
If the formulas are fairly the same, seeing monsters...welll...
Yeah you're right this game it wouldn't matter lol. I was going to say seeing a monster's Int base would do wonders with calculating how much you need and so on so forth in an easier manner, but alas, they took out most depth for 'accessibility.'
Resistances don't matter - fire does full damage to fire elementals...go figure - so pointless to have one.
Ffxi libra = /check
Am I right?
Example being: "tough, high evasion with low defense."
is it not possible to change options in any way to view a targets HP?
During one Hard Mode Ifrit boss battle, one of our party members spoke as if we was able to see Ifrits HP. During the hectic match it was just one tank and two healers alive. The person was shouting things like "You can do it, 8k HP left!" and such during the last like 1-5% HP (which we won, epic moment for the tank and two healers 8D)
I did not find any setting anywhere to view HP though but I might have just had a blind moment and missed it lawl
All mobs have a visible health bar in this game. If you're asking how to view actual numbers, no, I don't think there's a way. The person you mention probably just knew roughly how many total exp Ifrit has (collected by a parser, probably), looked at the amount of HP bar that was left, and knew that it represented around 8000 HP.
Ah yes, that is what I meant. Actual numbers~
I'd love to see what their HP is but I won't use Parsers because they're supposively a bannable offense and I don't want to risk being banned >> Was introduced to Parsers today by someone recommending me to use FFXIV-APP to improve rotations but I remember reading they're against the ToS so I'll just have to dream I can see their numbers lawl
"Cast Libra, Spam X"..
...oh wait,...this isn't FFXIII....
sry
Pretty sure it was even posted by community reps that parsers are fine. All they literally do is read the chatlog and compile data. It's basically like if you read through the battle log and wrote everything down and calculated dps values, etc, really, really, really fast.
Ultimately, we're already confirmed to get add-on support in the near future so it would be pretty darn contradictory for parsers to be a ban worthy offense when we'll be able to develop add-ons that directly interact with the game and give us DPS data eventually lol.
That aside, in a game where mobs do not have any defense, magic defense, weaknesses to damage types or elements, or anything really that makes them unique in terms of how much damage they take from anything, Libra would be entirely useless. All the necessary data is already provided by the UI. The HUD and its elements are this game's Libra, if you will.
Oh man! Yes! I want a Bestiary! Please!
I'd love to have libra.
As stated, its traditional use is kinda a waste for xiv, but it could perhaps pull up a basic movelist ("Breaths fire, can use fire enhanced attacks, can stun") and a note written by one of the designers or something explaining whatever, or just laughing at it, you know what I mean. Would give a damn good reason to have it as an all-class skill (like the node detection for gathering classes) and a reason to kill everything once, let alone exploring and keeping the world busy. Would not, I think, take all that much effort from the devs either, and would add something cool, an achievement source etc.
Essentially like the monster book from Tales games.
Dammit now I want this really badly .-.
lol @ libra in ffxiv. The only good pre-combat information it could give me would be if the mob casts gravity or not.
Why have something that is basically useless? SE dumbed this game down so there are no real elemental resistances or any real hidden stats at all. Everything that really gives a damn when it comes to stats is already given to us.
A nice but probably never-implemented possibility for Libra -- as a continual Debuff that tells you how long you have until the mob uses its next ability and what that ability is.
