This is hands down one of the strangest complaints I've seen yet.
The problem is, when you have 8 dudes all fighting the same thing it looks dumb/crowded when the mob is small.
Like Titan, the last boss in Haukke Manor, and the dragon in Brayflox :p
cause knowing whats going on around you is no fun
I actually prefer having my camera zoomed out. Can see more of the action that way.
I don't know whether or not its true but sometimes, on the ps3 at least, the zoom out distance seems shorter than footage I've seen on the pc.
For instance in Titan, completely zoomed out I still can't see the entire ring.
Well they either make us Zoom out the camera, or fix their client-server communication issue. The zoom out solution certainly seems to be the easier one.
I don't even...
i paid for a mmo with a 3rd person view not an isometric one
You know, I was thinking that I didn't really agree with the color palette of the forums for this game. I decided not to make a complaint because it's silly and minor, but after seeing what passes as a complaint these days...
zooming your camera out increases your dmg didn't you know
Problem I have is so many things are red in red or in the same color wheel and make it hard to see some things when zoomed out.
To me on the contrary, zooming out is a must. It's good to be aware of your surroundings when fighting anything.
To each their own i guess
Can't see the ground and the crap your standing in if you don't zoom at some. The game looks really nice zoomed in though and fun that way.
Im a healer and most of the time my party members all scatter. I actually wish I could zoom out further to keep better track of them :(
Stop making fights where you need to turn around. It should be possible to complete all fights facing north.
Stop making fights where you have to move. What if I want to stand in the brightly colored stuff?
(I'm being facetious.)
Now I know people are complaining just to complain, there are many issues in boss fights of this game but the ability to see what you want is not one of them...
If anything, I would like the ability to be able to zoom out the camera farther.
Might be a PS3 thing
I just finished Aurum Vale for the first time and had a lot of trouble with this... No matter what I did, I couldn't find a camera angle or distance that would allow me to see everything I needed to because the walls kept getting in the way... I'm a crafter, not a fan of dungeons, but wish they were easier to at least look around in. The entire time I was in there, I was wishing there was at least an option to crop walls and ceilings blocking the freedom of camera movement I was trying (and failing) to achieve.
Requiring players to zoom out is a good thing. If your zoomed in your not really able to pay attention to everything happening I wouldn't think, this way your punished for not paying attention. Titan hm at default zoom, or titan ex for that matter would both suck. That could actually be why so many people have issues with those fights.
game camera doesn't zoom out far enough if you ask me
you should be max zoomed out if you want to make the most of your situational awareness
If I kept the camera as close to my character as the default configuration in this game does if I were playing World of Warcraft, I'd never be able to see players coming up from behind me and Shamans would be just out of my FOV so I couldn't see them priming their nukes on me. It would be very difficult to line up Shockwaves that hit more than 2 players very well and decrease the overall amount of strategy I could use to control the movements of my enemies.
I haven't kept a camera close to my character on purpose since I learned this. Stop admiring your character so much and zoom out. If you want to admire your character, that is what inn rooms or non combat situations are for.
Spinning mouse wheel 2 hard, plz nerf
All joking aside there are times when I feel a detachment from my character's actions when zoomed out to max distance, I feel more like I'm playing a sim-style strategy game. We weren't required to zoom out hugely in FFXI and many of the encounters were challenging without the requirement of twitch-dodging the big orange circle of doom on the ground, indeed, mob abilities weren't telegraphed in such a content-cheapening way.
It isn't always about 'admiring your character'.
As a BRD I always stay max zoom. Easier to see everything happening around you and to dodge stuff. But as a melee, I normally have to zoom in quite a bit because of all the skills/spells going off on the mob it makes it tougher to see which direction its facing so I can optimize DPS. This probably wouldn't be a problem if horrible tanks would stop moving the mob all over the place, but that's a different discussion.
As long as you can see the stack you're standing in and run the same way they do, you don't really need to zoom out much. You need to see a clear path to one safe spot for WotL, and you follow the pack for bombs. Landslide you'll pretty much be able to see regardless of zoom.
Now I'm interested in seeing footage of Titan Hard in first person. . .>_>
This is a rather silly complaint. Mouse users scroll the mouse wheel while controller users hit left bumper + right analog to move the zoom. It's instantly available, and takes less than a second to toggle. The developers should use the full range of abilities they gave the player. They shouldn't limit themselves because a few players are too lazy to take less than a second to zoom in or zoom out depending on the situation.
I don't mind needing to zoom out on fights, since my camera is always 100% zoomed out. But man, it would be nice if the camera could auto-zoom out whenever the game forces me into tight spots or let the camera go through the wall so it could stay at 100% zoomed out.
Please make all fights subject to the first person camera instead. So sick of 3rd person.
I have no idea how to design a fight where it's not easier when zoomed out without making it too easy.
The game seems like L.O.L when it is zoomed out, Roe looks like a frking lalafell character and what the point of good looking gear if everything is a smudge.
The fight seems nicer up close but, if you want to survive then have to zoom out.
I think many of our issues with Titan HM isn't the fact we don't zoom out enough, it's the fact we get hit by stuff he doesn't even hit us with. The last time i fought Titan HM (3 days ago) i got hit by Landslide when i was like 3 landslides away from it when it went off. Not to mention half the time he would "Jump in the air" He would just stand in the center of the circle and not actually even jump...
