DRG Max Crit Build

Hey, so what do people think of this build? I've been going over the numbers and changed a few things (didn't realize my Wyrm breeches were actually pretty awful, lol) and so I'm going to just lay out the options for a Maximum Crit Build that doesn't sacrifice too much Acc.


Weapon: Gae Bolg Zenith (Allagan has slightly higher max dmg but GB has high Acc & Crit)
Head: Allagan Visor of Maiming
Body: Wyrm Mail
Gloves: Allagan Gauntlets of Maiming
Neck: Hero's Necklace of Slaying
Waist: Hero's Belt of Maiming
Earrings: Tremor Earrings of Striking (or Allagan Maiming if you need more Acc)
Legs: Allagan Trousers of Maiming (Onion Sourel also works, but lower STR & VIT could be problematic)
Feet: Allagan Sollerets of Maiming
Wrist: Inferno Bangle of Striking (or Allagan of Maiming if Acc isn't an issue)
Ring 1: Vortex Ring of Striking
Ring 2: Allagan Ring of Striking or Ultima Band of Striking (again, acc issues)

lol, i find it odd that you really want to build a crit build, but hey, there are thousands or cups of teas.

Your numbers please, I'd like to know how much crit we are actually talking about; don't want to something if its less crit food could give me.

Hmm, don't have a parser to test for exact rates, but before I swapped some of my gear I recently topped out at 512 crit (i'm still missing a lot of the pieces I need/want) and was averaging (again, eyeballing it so not 100% accurate) at least a 25~30% crit rate if not more.

Crit is incredibly useful I find on DRG because we have hard-hitting WS a pretty solid auto-attack. Nothing like regularly seeing 1k+ jumps and Full Thrusts, or 350+ damage auto attacks.

The maximum possible value (not counting food) is around 550 I think if you have all the gear from coil, CT, and primals/ultima but you're sacrificing too much acc and STR/VIT by doing so.

BLM can get away with that because spells can't actually miss, only be resisted. DRG can't.

BLM spells can most definitely miss. Go into T4 with low accuracy and you're going to miss.

I have been running a 514 crit, my accuracy is 465 without food (small issue there), easily buffed up with food.

I'm not sure of what numbers other BiS should give, but i like the numbers i see.

There are BiS lists for every accuracy level from the 460s up to the 480s on the first page of the Rotation Reborn thread. Not sure why you'd stray from those.

I would like to bring up this to top again :-) Im currently about to do "tests" for what gear (only lv 80 and lv 90) would be best for Drg and im wondering if other can input some numbers here.

What i want to know is how does a Critbuild compare to another one. For example AF+1 and Allagan, is it best to mix it, is it best to use Af+1, is it best to use Allagan? These kind of things. Or maybe even questions like "I have Onion Legs atm, with 30 crit and just got Allagan Legs now that has no crit but more strength, what should i do?"
Im very aware that it probably depends on other slots and whats equipped in there but maybe we can get something clearer answers if more ppl collect some data.

I did some tests for exactly that question yesterday, i only switched Onion Legs with Allagan Legs, Onion is iLvl 80 with 30 Crit but few less Strength and less Determination as the iLv 90 Allagan Legs so i really wondered what to use. After 10 laps i saw that i loose over 15% crit rate on a 3 min lap but even with so much lower rate i did nearly exactly same dps, due to higher constant hits due to the strenght/Det buff. Would be awesome to get more things like that. Im also interested in more drastic changes, like change 5 items with crit with others that have no crit but more strength and see what happens.

To test i use the Lv.50 doll in cohertas. How to get some numbers i wont discuss here, i think ppl know by now how to do that.

Important is also that the same rotation is used always and if food was used or not. Of course the equipped items would be cool too^^

I suggest you guys just look up the 'A Rotation Reborn'-Thread, as it already covers the stat weights (see section "So You're Leveling a Dragoon..." of the opening post) and you'll also find various BIS-Lists thoughout the discussion as well as Excel based BIS-Solvers.

If by "can't actually miss, only be resisted" you mean a spell is able to not hit, not only do no damage but also lack the effect of the spell like Umbral Ice or Astral Heat, and shows a big "Miss" on the screen, then yes, you are correct.
