FFXIV Instances 1.18 Gratitude Thread

I would like to say a big thank you to all at SE for their hard work over the last year and I am grateful to how much the world of Eorzea has changed and improved, although there is still much to do and learn. I have complete faith in your skills as a mmorpg provider. Final Fantasy is and always will be the best mmorpg out there and I and many of us in Eorzea have complete faith in you, we are all looking forward to what lies ahead, thank you for developing the first two instance dungeons for us, and I look forward to a great future within this wonderful world :)

Would like to agree but, im not gonna jump the gun & say the Dungeons are awesome until ive actually tried them.

But whats even worse is....im sure we have to pay a monthly fee sooner than expected,
with recent actuvities regarding the updated "Click & Buy" updates.

Right now im asking myself, would i pay for this?

People try things alll the time, People like them but also nitpick at things, and the end results usually is negative when the update was a positive.. I don't get it sometimes :/.

i'm sure they appreciate threads like this, with so much doom and gloom. Thanks for making a topic that has a positive message. I don't think it's in their interest to displease the users, or to punish us in any way, they want the game to succeed despite its current situation. Just because I don't agree with every update, or screenshot, or decision doesn't mean i'm not thankful for all their hard work as well.

this has got to be a joke thread. there is no way anyone that has played a game that is supposed to be pay per play can actually say they have been working hard and making the game better. this game is just the same as release if not worse than it was.

if it is getting so much better then why are people still leaving a game that is free? the answer is because it is not.

Look, I think dungeons are a welcome addition, even if ten months after they should've been implemented, but I'm not going to lavish accolades on something nobody's played yet.

yeah I am not jumping the gun neither, but in a more general sense I would like to say that I am proud of the current team, in the fact that they are doing a pretty good job of cleaning up "the mess"

Yawn, you're pretty much a broken record at this point. The game's still craptastic, but no where near the state it was in at release. Furthermore, and it does have to be said again, you don't know what they're doing. Rewriting the server coding and game so that items don't cause so much burden due to Tanaka's team's terrible job in itself is a big undertaking but it goes unknown.

But you don't think about that, do you? You want phat loots to make your stupid investment in this game to get 2+ rank 50 classes despite the fact levelling is wholly unenjoyable worthwhile.

You're bitter, we get it.

It was mentioned in a Letter from the Producer awhile back and has been stated by many Devs on the boards too. I don't think anyone is questioning their release.

Not only that, but I honestly don't get why people say that the Dev team isn't working hard enough or fast enough. What do they think the team is doing over at SE? Do they assume the Devs go to work every morning and just do nothing at all? Maybe they sit around in a drum circle all day? Staring contests?

I wonder if people are more interested on bugfixes rather than concrete content...

I can tell that when they release the new Dungeons people will come back playing the game to test the new content, and if they haven't, test the new Synthesis changes, also with UI performance increased and sh*t like that.

They might have to CHANGE the dungeons again most likely when the battle and jobchanges finally hit live...

Im sick of waiting for minutes to change a job and press the slow macros again and again because sometimes a skill is still missing on my "action" bar... i want these basics fixed. They should be fixed for months now. Why do we have to macro every shit when changing a job still? This is beyond retarded and clunky. I'm fine with macros for gear swap but for every stupid skill? Its not that i change all these skills, IF i tweak one or 2 manually, which is fine but i want them to be SAVED!!!
And i dont want my refill, where ever it finds a free slot same about the shield skill. C'mon, this is broken since release!

Who can honestly thank someone for this?

I won't start with the slow trade/retainer menus... *sigh*

We get vague hints of whats to come and the only feedback we every get is "we're looking into this"..

What do they expect. Us to all sit around and /praise them after nearly a year of a game that isn't worth the dvd it came on?

be glad you get any info at all, many games don't tell you crap about whats going on, in fact, with the way SE gives out info, I would rather them say nothing then what they tell us already.

I agree, it's fair enough that they're in the planning stages for a lot of stuff, but a general idea of the direction you're going in would be very reassuring. It doesn't even have to be the most specific details imaginable (although it does leave a lot of room for the community to jump to conclusions and go crazy)

Once 1.18 is released and after trying out the new system, I will decide if I want to thank them for 1.18 or not.

All I can thank SE dev team (new) ATM is thanks for trying to fix what the old team F'ed up, I know it's hard work and hope they keep up with constant changes to make it into a real Final Fantasy title.

I am going to wait and see what the patch holds before giving them any credit.

There is alot of things I am liking that I seen and some things that just seem like the dev team has no clue wtf they are doing.

Honestly it is all coming down to Dungeons and company content. IF it is just like a typical western zerg fest through a dungeon to kill a boss with nothing else involved... well then I will consider 1.18 an epic failure. If it is involved, challenging, with more then 1 thing to do in the dungeons then i will probably consider it a decent patch... Great patch is already ruled out with the other negatives I seen already... unless they release alot of stuff they have not said anything about yet.

It's apparent that you didn't play at release, or have forgotten... If the option existed to play the release version or this version I would pick our current build.

However that being said, they still have a long way to go... I'm hoping 1.18 will be a huge step in that direction as it will be the first real update from the new team.

By the time the game is one year old I'm thinking we'll see a whole new game, much like we did with XI, only we didn't have access for the first year the game was out here in North America.

Its just who everyone becomes when they are given the opportunity to make changes. They think mostly about themselves, and use "making the game better" as an excuse. They only want it better for themselves. The two main aspects here are that there are people that want this game to be like other MMORPGs, and there are those who want it to stick to the Final Fantasy franchise.

However, you can perhaps have a little bit of both and it wouldn't necessarily destroy the entire game.

Anyways, about this thread. I thank the dev team and community reps for all of their hard work. They could not have done it without YoshiP and the rest of the staff! Thank you and congrats on coming to a close on the major revisions! Keep up the good work!

I'm glad someone has the guts to make a thread that appreciates the devs even though it's a potential hate magnet. And it's really got a lot of hate as well.

It seems to me that people don't completely understand just how difficult creating such a massive game is. I've taken college classes on programming, and have even done personal studies of it. Programming is far from easy, even if it's something that would seem so simple to do. Any change to the game, even the addition of content, would mean rewriting the core of the code, and it takes time to find the places in the code that need adjustment.

Also, I've spent the past 10 years or so trying to become a writer which is very difficult. The reason why? Because it's hard coming up with new ideas that aren't just complete rip-offs of something else. In the movie industry it's difficult as well, that's why nowadays you see remakes of movies, see cartoons or comics turned into movies, or see a movie about something similar to another movie you've already seen. What's this got to do with making a game? Creativity is hard! SE wants content never experienced in any other MMO or single-player game, because that's what makes Final Fantasy what it is. And creativity is especially hard when you become an adult, which the whole staff at SE are adults I'm sure, and creativity lacks because your imagination becomes limited when you experience the real world and you wonder if your ideas will be liked or hated, and believe that maybe you should just keep them to yourself.

Now, after all that :) I want to say that Yoshi-P and his crew have been doing a great job in trying to make this game what it should've been at release, and know that there are people out there that understand the struggles it takes to making it likable. Keep up the good work! But do you think you can keep us a little more informed on what's going on at HQ? I hate being in the dark for so long while waiting on the Letters ><

Regardless of all the hate and love that is tossed around on these forums. This is what the community is. I appreciate those who negatively critique SE on their sloppy performances and I appreciate those who can notice how far the game has come since launch. This thread should help shows SE that they aren't just creating a game designed for hateful robots, but some kind human beings as well. :P

I'm sort of in limbo with SE (though I find myself more pissed then relieved). At the end of the day I just have to sit and wait for the content, and balance irl and in game tasks in the meantime.

Why are people so bad at using common sense? Click and Buy maintenance means nothing except that there is a maintenance. This has nothing to do with FFXIV going P2P at any time...its just a notice to the FFXIV community, cause regardless the game being F2P, you still need to verfiy stuff over C&B if you want to add a character slot or just any kind of service to your account, so C&B having a maintenance makes that IMPOSSIBLE. This is merely a SERVICE OF NOTIFICATION!

Fine-Tuning in? It doesnt say what they mean by Fine-Tuning.. but one posibility is:

actually yes i did play the game on release. sorry the changes that were made from release that made to make the game better were done by tanaka. ya know the changing of the sp system. i remember how i loved hitting a crab and having the mages get 5 times as much sp as i did although they did zero damage.
