Limt Break Animation Adjustments, and Bard Limit Break

Kinda two parts here.

I'd really like to see jobs each get their own individual animations for their limit breaks, even if they do the exact same thing. Being a monk, and suddenly pulling out an energy sword just don't do it for me. Would be nice if they did something specific for Monk and Lancer. Maybe even with subtle differences... like the Monk LB causes paralyze (since blunt damage seemed like something that would hinder your abilities. Perhaps Lancer can cause a bleed effect after use. But more importantly, they use their fists/polearms to do these moves.

I'm reminded of Saga Frontier, and the unique combo animations they had. I'd like that. (except not ps1 quality).

For Healers, perhaps White Mages bow down to the gods in their healing animation or draw enegeries from teh earth, Scholars perhaps have some fancy book animation or better yet, their Fairy could do some fancy ritual.

Bards, assuming they don't have a ranger counterpart, should really have some form of DPS LB.... or at very least, one that buffs the party. Maybe like an Embrava affect, like from FFXI Scholars. A Powerful TP Song, Regen Song, Refresh Song simultanouesly, and even better, make it only use one bar regardless instead of 3.

As for Tanks... Would be interesting if they did the same thing but in different ways... maybe the Warrior limit break would do an equivalent ammount of HP as Paladin's would defense, with Paladin animations playing off a virtuous knight and Warrior's relating to fury/rage etc.

As for BLM/SMN I'd mostly like to see Summoner do a animation based off their Egi doing the limit break, instead of a meteor. I know it'd be a pain making a different limit break for Carbuncle, Ifrit, etc. But it's kinda Tradition for it to be a flashy job involving getting overpowered beings to do big things on a player's behalf.

Well maybe a few times, but in those cases we still wipe afterwards.

True, pretty much just using it to do multi raise, but I like the idea of job specific limit breaks, even if they are only subtlely different from others.

True I have only seen the healer LB used twice successfully.

Almost never get to LB as a tank either. One time someone yelled at me to LB and I was so confused that I couldn't even find the button. Ah. Good times.

Throwing it out there, but wouldn't mind if the healer LB3 didn't apply Weaken upon those it raises.

For all the marketing about LBs I have to say I barely even notice them happening in the game. The only way I know for sure that an LB was activated is the sound of the meter.

It's actually really bad for gameplay because I don't know which LB even happened. Why can't the visual effects be longer than that? The effects really need to be beefed up in length to be seen through all of the hud and effect crap filling the screen at all times.

I wouldnt mind a hp increase to bosses or any other adjustment of some sort if they let each roles have their own limit bars.

2 tanks contribute to their own limit break bar and decide on their own when to use it
4 dps contribute to their own limit break bar and decide between the 4 of them when and who to use it
2 healers contribute to their own limit break bar and decide between themselves on when to use it...totalling into 3 separate limit breaks.

very good idea i would add to it, the ability to choose how much of the gauge i want to use, for example using 3 lvl 1 LBs in row

as for the animations, i would make them longer, class specific, stopped time during the cast and let all the party members participate in the lb (i know its "technically" already in there if "raising hand while idle" counts), at least the lvl3 one, as stopping time outside of dungeon isn't probably feasible

I used to hate the bard limit break but honestly it has saved groups so many times

I agree that each job should have it's own LB animation, though if you've seen the healer LBs you know they're already made with WHM in mind, with the first being a healing wind and the second is like... protective earth or something. It'd be nice to have SCH specific ones though.

Also I would love for Bard to have a buff/debuff LB, or just give it a caster-equivalent dps LB and call it a day.

Aside from that I think they should remain completely identical within their type as they are now. Not even the smallest difference, because we all know what would happen.

If you ask for change, they'll just give you Omnislash for BRD.

I saw a lot of healer LB3 after nails in Ifrit HM

While I personally don't mind the Omnislash LB animation on my DRG, it does seem out of place. I mean where did a buster sword even come from? I get it's probably just pandering to FF7 fans (which again, I don't really mind that much since I loved the game), but it just feels awkward and weird on a DRG, and even more so on a Monk.

If I wanted to do an LB with a giant sword, I would have rolled a class that uses a giant sword. Except we don't have one of those.

You see my dilemma.

The idea is nice but I like it the way it is. Do you really want people locking say SMN out of a fight because the Meteor LB is better than theirs? Or keeping a slot just for MNK because it's better than the DRG LB? Thinking about what LB your fight needs is quite important, I mean I'd never do Titan extreme for example without the Meteor LB available. Not that it's impossible without, it just makes things smoother on a fight which is already difficult to PUG.

My friends and I have talked about having 2 limit breaks per class, a support and dps based one. You set it before you enter a dng and can only change it when you're not in a dungeon/battle if you're doing fates in a zone. Also, I think healer LB3 should raise you without sickness.

I actually made a post about this subject too. I hate seeing my summoner magically spawn a staff for their limit break, and the same with my scholar.

Paladin - a shield is displayed in front on everyone
Warrior - party members are encased in glowing skin
Monk- instead of it looking Like a sword, have clones come out to pummel the target
Dragoon - drive their lance into the ground, causing a much larger one to shoot up through the target
Black Mage - stays the same
Summoner - summon a massive primal, not one used or fought, to hurl a fire ball (or some other element/magic) at the AOE target
White Mage - stays the same
Scholar - summons an army of fairies to heal and raise
Bard - this one I want big changes to. Instead of the healing LB it currently does, change it so the bard sings a special song that increases the party's stats by 50% for 10 seconds. OR have a ballista spawn in front of them that they use on a single target.

If i cant move from LB lock i shouldnt be able to get knocked off the ledge in titan.
Personally from my view in endgame content LB usually get you killed.

To stay on your theme of where only the animations change and not the end result. I'd say have BRD shoot an white glowing arrow into the sky, clouds part, light rays shine through on dead bodies and they get raised.

The LB's are a group effort, not an individual thing. It's a group building process, and a single individual using the groups effort. I do like DBthaOne's suggestion though, keep the end resulting effects the same but allow each job to bring their own flair to it.

As for usefulness of each, this is how I see it:

Tank LB - PLD/WAR - I've only recently used this consistently...on a single fight and that would be Ultiama hard mode for the last set of glowing plasma balls. Outside of that? Umm...I think I used it once with a Ifirit hard mode fight where the party had an issue downing all the nails? When I learned about Ultima's strat included a tank limit break I was over the moon. You mean I can actually use the LB? /faints

Melee DPS LB - MNK/DRG - Used for single target boss and probably the one used the most...by a long shot.

Magic DPS LB - BLM/SMN - Used for multi-target, or if you don't have a melee DPS in your party. Probably the second most used LB.

Healer LB - WHM/SCH/BRD - I've seen this one used more than the tank LB but that's not saying much, it rarely gets used and when it does, things have hit the fan...in a bad way. I have though seen this used successfully to prevent what looked like a wipe fully recover.

Bards should get a LB that replenishes TP/Mana/and give the party Hastega

as long as Yoshi-p wants to keep everyone on "equal footing"

Bard will never see a Ranged DPS LB, have my doubts even pure ranged dps will get a dps LB when they are released

i dont know about other jobs, but on my other character i did have both whm and scholar to 50, and i wish for the scholar level3 LB instead of it just being the standard one like WHm, i wish both fairies spawned at once and just did a dance thing that raised everyone.

and kinda the same with SMN, where all 3 egi's spawned at once and made the meteor come.

Now that I would like to see since using LB3 on Healer is rare to use.

as for the Healing LBs... LB3 you do in fact do a /pray but the animation is so bright that you don't see it.

I have saved multiple DF groups' runs in Ifrit/Garuda HM with BRD LB3. I didn't like that I had healer LB at first, but after I saved (sometimes through my own sacrifice) the entire team and hear things in /p like "SO HERO", "BRD = BEAST" it really stokes the ol' ego :)

Tried using Pulse of Life in Titan HM one time, but I should have known that if the 6/8 party members are dead in p5 nothing was going to save them...
