I join Crystal Tower raids all the time with swimsuits and get kicked out. Whats the point of even allowing this kind of gear into raids if people are just going to get the boot for inane reasons such as "Afk" or "Disconnected"?

I don't mind if people join in it, as long as they switch before we start fighting. But as one of the healers, if I have to baby-sit you because you chose to leave that stuff equiped, I just simply wont. As a result, people who have done that have been kissing the floor until other people get fed up enough to vote kick. I will raise once, and if you still don't go back to real gear, then that's it.
The point is to have fun with it outside of dungeons. And for vanity, when it comes.
I don't really see the point in dps or tanks wearing it, but I am a healer, and still do my job.
i put on dps gear as a tank once.
one of the healers got fed up and left. we were at acheron.
It's such a hit to your stats, though. I mean yes CT is faceroll easy for the most part, but the run I did where a +1 relic WHM came in with a bathing suit, guess which summoner ended up raising that very same WHM more than once? You can't heal anyone if you're dead because your level 1 seasonal gear drops your VIT so much that you get one shotted by trash mobs in CT.
But you still don't heal on the same level as with your real gear. You lose massive amounts of stats by choosing seasonal gear. You wouldn't want a healer to heal your Coil group in AF1 gear, would you? Still you decide to bring even worse gear and want everyone to just live with it.
Hah, the "I play a wanted role, so I can get away with things" is backfiring.
Nice.
And if you want another reason, CT is so full of trolls and griefers that people have developed a very low tolerance to those kinds of actions.
If you enter CT in anything but job specific gear you'll be stapled troll and kicked.
To be fair, they should be able to as well. If you think they can't do their jobs wearing swimsuits, whatever makes you think you can do yours? The other healer is carrying you. That's what you're doing, expecting others to pick up your slack.
Get an entire raid in swimsuits and see how well that goes.
Is this some kind of joke thread?
Well you're still meeting the ilvl requirement ... though really couldn't you just wait for vanity?
Healing Turns with seasonal gear? No. Healing a joke raid in seasonal gear? yes. The only point I wear real gear is KB, which I know will take forever, which I do not want to do. I lose 200 heals, which is quite a bit over a long period of time, however lustrate doesn't take a hit.
eh had a run one time when my whole group showed up in snowman helms. The whole alliance proceeded to follow suit, all in all good fun if everyone agrees to it.
As long as people meet the ilv requirement, they're fine. I actually like people who "undergear" a little over the people who bring their really overgeared mains into the dungeon (and then proceed to complain about every little thing because the dungeon is trivial in i85+ gear...).
Its not like CT is hard in the first place
Actually, I'd rather make the suggestion of giving the option of turning character view off. I would assume losing stats in any department would be the same, be it weapon or armor. What if I was a scholar or summoner and decided not to use my pet, would that bother you more than wearing a swimsuit?
I go in as a healer in the coliseum gear and snowman hat all the time. I get plenty of compliments most of the time, since people find it funny. But I also don't die and don't slack off. I guess it's different if you scrub it up instead of still carrying your weight.
This is CM and the healer is here just for spirit bonding.

Before things started i checked his gear and say to myself: I hope he knows what he's doing.
But in fact he died twice AND had a few party members dead too. I'm extremely offended.
I know this is Duty Roulette, we're all here just for easy tomestone; I know this is CM (man!) it's so easy, you'd ran this dungeon 63816171 times but this is just wrong.
Currently I run CT, CM, Prae with spirit bonding accessories set (vit or main attribute), and I dps or heal just fine.
Going to try wearing a seasonal head for fun :D
There isn't much wrong with wearing a few bits of seasonal or fancy gear here and there - if the rest of your gear makes up for it.
I can wear my seasonal head and still hit 3700HP on my SCH easily, and many a time I am still the higher geared healer. Can do the same on my WAR and have 7k+. I don't even have close to the best gear available either.
If I spiritbond in Prae or CM I at least wear class specific sets that I make HQ. So I am at least at a greater level than most 'entry level' players still.
There's a limit to it all, the second you perform less than the averagely geared player of your class - it's no longer a novelty for anyone else.
You've assumed wrong.
If Damage is = to 8 of a primary stat, removing your zenith relic is the same as removing 583 Mind. Putting on the swimsuit top/bottom is costing you 58 Mind by comparison.
On topic though, I think wearing seasonal gear is selfish. If you wanna SB a few pieces of gear, go for it. Just SB gear that is fitting of your class. Wearing a bunch of crafting gear or seasonal gear is the same as saying "I could do more to help this run go faster/smoother, but meh, f you guys." to me. Could say SBing is technically the same to a lesser extent, but I get it we all need a little gil now and then, so it bothers me less.
Except losing stats is still losing stats, which is why I didn't compare weapon loss to armor.
I don't care what people wear so long as they take part and do their jobs. Had a CT yesterday with two tanks in party B wearing spiritbonding gear, who refused to tank. Sure, spiritbond - but do your job as well. If you're incapable of even that then don't come at all.
But I think there's a difference between wearing jewelry that's level 48 or 49 to spiritbond, and wearing any level 1 seasonal gear. At least with the jewelry, you're only taking a minor hit to your stats from what they would be if you were wearing darklight or myth jewelry. The hit to stats from ilvl 70/80/90 gear to level 1 gear is going to be way larger.
If people spirit bond to the point they are far below their potential gear level or wear seasonal gear, i just do not heal them until they switch.
This is the stance I have taken. The other day there was a SCH wearing seasonal gear in CT. I called him/her out and was kicked. Since then, if you're not taking the dungeon seriously enough to wear real gear, I'm not taking you seriously enough to keep you alive when I'm on my healer.
I think we can go with our friends and do what we like, they will tolerate it or not. If someone joins with many unknwon people, he has to try his best. Do fates to spiritbond, do dungeons with your friends in underwear or snow suits, etc. for fun or achievement. There's no justification to not do your best for others. Some spiritbond if you are very overgeared and skilled may pass. Or in low level dungeons if you are well geared experienced.
All very valid points here, and I've been guilty of running things in bikinis + my best gear (it's just something I've always done if the option was available, and only with friends, only in instances that I'm well above level/item level wise). CT, I've learned to not take so seriously. I mean, I come prepared, but if people want to make it fun for themselves by wearing vanities/seasonals, fine, but as long as they can still get the job done. Not healing them or refusing to help is really just poor attitude, though I can understand the difference between the efforts it takes to heal a full i70 vs an i50 wearing gear that doesn't really augment their class/stats.
One more reason I'm looking forward to the Glamours system. I can wear all my i70-i90s, but LOOK like I'm rocking my bikini/Glacial Coat :)
