How come Dragoon isn't part of the opening Movie ?

Every job class is included in the opening movie except Dragoon. Why ?

Just thought it odd that the job class I chose from day 1 was the least advertised.

Would have been cool seeing the Drg.. joining up in the fight.

Instead we get to see the FFXIV version of Matt cast a protect / warp spell on our heros and off they ride into the sunset on a herd of chocobo's

Where was Dragoon ?

The Dragoon is a lie.

Lorewise, it's because the Dragoons and Monks are rare, and advertising wise, parts of the opening movie come from the 1.0 close, so Summoner and Scholar didn't exist. To top it off, they were using characters that appeared in the original 1.0 opening, with the male Elezen being missing, so they only had 5 characters to work with. The missing characters will be added based on the official concept art you see that matches those characters. The Monk will be a Highlander female and all that jazz.

Actually there is a Red Wizard in Final Fantasy, it's what Red Mage becomes in FF1, but there is no relation to that Red Wizard to my own!

I always did sort of wonder why they didn't use the male Elezen as a Dragoon; his attitude and physique always seemed a good match for a Dragoon to me. And, heck, with that helmet, it's hard to tell. The "signature" concept art Dragoon may still well be him, even though Ferne said he parted ways with the rest of the CG Company at some point.

I'm a little more curious as to when we'll see the signature Summoner and Scholar, if ever. Visual Works is busy with a lot of other stuff, and presumably any CGs they do for expansions would put a focus on the new content/jobs/so forth. Well it takes two turns to complete Jump, maybe the cutscene wasn't long enough?

First off, the characters in the cutscene are merely a representation of the players in 1.0. There's four of them to represent a light party. Technically if rarity of the Job was an issue than the Warrior shouldn't be there either as they were also almost all wiped out.

The "real" reason is because Ishgard did not participate in the Battle of Cartenaeu. They declined helping the Grand Alliance in favor of protecting their own lands. The Azure Dragoon(probably Estinien at that point) or any Dragoon would not have been allowed to join the party. It's the only explanation that makes sense with the least plot holes.

Elezen BLM
Miqo BRD
Hyur WAR
Roe PLD

Don't MNKs come from Ala Mhigo? Maybe there are no MNKs cause Ala Mhigo is occupied by the enemy. Here I am making excuses for SE =(

Actually the Elezen male is the BLM.

Well, physically the BLM looks male, but word-of-god from Ferne says the BLM is actually supposed to be female (in other words, the elezen girl who was a GLA during the Echo scene in the original 1.0 opening movie), and the elezen male who 'Derplander' was originally with in the Adventurer's Guild parted ways with him before the Battle of Carteneau and actually wasn't part of that trailer.

There was a big discussion about it a while ago and from the looks of things, it was just a result of confusion by Square Enix Visual Works who made the End of an Era trailer, mistakenly making the BLM physically male instead of female like they were supposed to. Presumably they probably looked at the BLM and thought, "well, the BLM is so covered up no one would be able to tell if they're a guy or a girl elezen!" or something.
