That's why the jacket was sure to win the prize. The judges must be like "oh it's just a HQ jacket... OMG that's a 50K materia! First place all the way!"
It varies from server to server, but seeing how some rank 3 materias are quite popular.... On behuemoth I paid like... 10 or 11k iirc.
IMO, Crafting and Gathering materias are very popular since there is no Allagan /Philo / Myth equivalent equipment for them, so crafters / gatherers must rely on materia more than DoW/DoM
you need it right? that answer your question.
You're gonna be spending way more than that to get the AF gear for it.
Your choices are:
- Spirit bond till you get the materia
- Pay 50k
- Craft thousands of items to obtain the equivalent Luminary tool
Not much to complain about ^^;;;;
It's pretty easy to spiritbind these days. Just slap on some gathering accessories then go run CT up to the first boss. Should only take 2-3 runs to finish binding.
Sorry to say it, but that's your own fault. Looking for something to sell to make some quick gil? You can start by looking at the screenshot you posted.
Edit: Though I gotta say, managing to get LTW to 50 without being able to make money on it is impressive. 90% of what you can make will be profitable if you HQ, which is almost always even without cross class skills if you aim for non star items.
You don't need to farm potash to make money as a LTW. :-\
Start selling various leathers - HQ them if possible. They'll sell like hotcakes. Especially Aldgoat and Toad Leather.
Sell gathering gear. Gatherers don't get the best gear from their quests, and there are often gaps. Shoes, gloves, and hats can really add to your bank.
why is it so high?
I cannot agree more with this. I spent all yesterday leveling up my Leatherworker from 1-30 on my alt, and I spent tens of thousands of gil on skins, alumen, metals, etc. I then did all of the levequests I could, and crafted every single piece of gear available to me, putting any HQ piece I made up on the market before I went to bed last night. Woke up this morning, and I made back nearly all of my money, and if everything else sells I'll have turned a sizable profit.
As the saying goes, "One man's trash is another man's treasure." You may not need what you make, but someone else probably does =P
Buy the materia and use it to get your AF weapon, then use the craft you just leveled to make the money back. That's what I've done for the 6 level 50 crafts I now have, the last quest is often quite expensive but don't worry, you have a fresh level 50 craft to play with and profit from.
Make a gatherer's set and just spiritbond it, you will most likely get one.
on a relative term i have 140 zync how much should i put on the market board?
haha thanks im new to these forums yes i read the rules i just needed advise ^^''
As a LTW, you can spiritbond it yourself actually...
Some of the high-end gathering accessories can be crafted with a LTW. What I would suggest is making the following:
- Raptorskin Choker
- Raptorskin Ring x2
- Raptorskin Wristbands of Gathering
The last part you are missing from a high level Gatherer's set would be Electrum Earrings, which requires a GSM to craft.
Meld a materia into them - just one of the cheapest Tier 1 materias on your server. If the items are HQ, the spiritbonding rate increases by +20%, and having a materia increases it by another 20% (not sure if additive or multiplicative). Then just go for a few DR high runs, and spiritbond them. I'd suggest playing a tank, since you can choose to take things slow, and control the pace of the dungeon. Or a healer, a loss of 150 per Cure isn't gamebreaking in something like Copperbell HM. You should switch out to your normal gear for boss fights though, but feel free to equip the above accessories for fighting trash mobs.
I just did the LTW 50 quest 2 days ago. Gatherer's Grasp 3 were about 11k each on my server too.
Well since you are a LTW, you can make your own Gathering Accs and SB them, that's what I did and got my materia from it.
You don't need to be rich

Craft it and go spiritbound it. Even if you don't get the materia you want, the other gathering materias you would get sell good
Well that's how people play the trick of demand vs supply vs price
They know this materia is compulsory for LTW last quest and all those unfortunate people levelling LTW to 50 is going to cry seeing this at the end :P
did my relic for a sub class last week, crit III is no cheaper...
if you are level 50, Craft a few high profit items. And done.
Agree with the other comments here: LTW is the way I made my first hundred thousand.. and second... and third... And in a short amount of time. aldgoat leather sells well and in small stacks. you can make a large stack of HQ, put up a few at a time, and within a few days (or hours depending on how actively you monitor the MB) have that 40K. In the mean time you can SB gather gear as suggested (I got mine from a choker), and either sell the rest, or make HQ gather gear pre-melded and sell that for even more.
LTW is the one crafting class that I always have made gil on, at every step of the way. Even if it was just with aldgoat leather
Oh, and btw, you can also merge the two, you should be able to HQ aldgoat leather at 50, even without the accessories, so you can wear gather rings/choker while you craft aldgoat leather.
