Parry and the warrior

So I'm getting into turn 5,and I'm going to be straight up I have not looked at every piece of ili90 gear, so please don't flame me if I don't know the stats to everything

My question is, once I get near acc cap, would Parry be a viable stat to look into? I have 30 vit and soon to have Se CT legs and myth jack boots on top of what I have so I'll be close to 8000hp, would Parry be worthwhile?

Yes.

As long as you've got Maximum +Vitality and are hitting the T5 Acc Cap of ~482, by all means try to jack up your Parry as much as possible.
Your other options are stacking Determination, Critical or Skill Speed, none of which help your survivability as much as Parry (they'll add a bit of extra DPS, which will slightly increase your self-heals)

After Vitality Parry is the Stat that will keep you alive which is a tank is your primary concern so after hitting accuracy cap get all the parry you can.

On a side note I got my 5th iLvl90 Warrior piece last night, the head to go with the body, only after equipping it did I realise it had neither parry or accuracy. Unfortunately Allagan Helm drops in T4 which I have yet to clear.

I'm pretty sure the Allagan Helm drops in T5 (it's the same drop for PLD, I've never seen it on T4 and it's listed in the T5 loot tables)

The nearest (i80) equivalent headpiece for WAR is the Crown of Light, and it doesn't come with Accuracy either. My PLD is full i90 and my WAR is mostly i90 now apart from i80 Hands and Feet... but I'm currently using Hoplight Head on the WAR until I have a spare week to do another set of EM Primals and get myself a Dual Haken (or finally get lucky with Allagan Wrist + Belt drops). Thankfully you only really need that much accuracy for Coil though! :)

I am still fairly certain T5 accuracy cap is 473 and around 300 for ex primals, so please stop spreading false information. Yes helm drops from T5. My suggestion is get as many i90 pieces as u can, you can ignore itemization for secondary stats. If you MTing 8000 is enough but could get u randomly killed by DS+AA+plummet. If youre OT then its more then enough. You must be able to hit IB with every DS.

I really hate parry as a stat cuz 75% of the time it is completely useless and never ever do you rely on parries to survive.

Lots of people have reported misses on various points of Coil (such as the T5 snakes) at 480 or less accuracy.
I've yet to see a single parse with a miss at 482 or higher.

That said, anything over 470 is going to be very very unlikely to miss even if it's not "100%"... pulling maximum enmity with every attack isn't so much an issue any more since the 2.1 patch, so as a PLD I'd not be overly worried about going in there with Accuracy that was a little lower. For WARs it might be slightly different though, given that missing an Inner Beast could potentially result in nastiness.

It's ~25% mitigation that kicks in ~20-25% of the time.
I wouldn't rely on it to always kick in exactly when you want it to, but it triggers often enough to noticeably decrease the amount of healing you need over the course of a fight.

It has been shown that your highest accuracy rating is 99.99% so yes it is not 100% and nor can you get to 100%. We also don't know if those hits were actual misses or the hit did not connect due to phase transition. 473 is the number I have yet to miss with on T, though my T5 per week lasts 12 min and perhaps the sample size is small.

My point stands, get as many i90 vit/str pieces as possible and ignore secondary stats unless ure severely accuracy crippled. <460

Does higher Parry allow for more "Dodged" attacks, as opposed to just the random %-mitigation? Or is "Dodged" a different check (like PLD Blocked/Parried)?

Parry have nothing to do with dodge. It is a completely separate mechanics where only Blind/Featherfoot foot effect dodge chance.

Whilst I agree that there's not going to be much regular observable difference in going too far over 470, if you have a link to this proof of never-being-able-to-hit-100%-Accuracy (particularly addressing tanks) I would very much like to see it. A missed hit in the Aggro-Generation combo should be extremely noticable.

(Also, there is no phase transition on Caedeus where he would go 'unhittable' before the split, so we can discount that possibility from the second link: "Happened almost right away in the fight when he was still merged.")

Unless there are some numbers on Parry thresholds for Warriors and NOT Paladins I personally mix in a 1:1 ratio of Det versus Parry. Why would SE weigh DET 2/3 compared to every other stat. It must be doing something that we don't know yet.

There are no thresholds. All stats give benefits in a linear fashion. The reason people talk about STR tiers is because the display when you parry an attack is rounded to an whole number. DET has a larger effect on your damage output than other secondary stats, so it is weighted higher.

Because it contributes more to damage and healing, on a point-for-point basis, than crit or skill speed. Keep in mind, Determination is a linear contributor while Crit and Skill Speed are multiplicative percentages, which means that their value diminishes the more of it you get. As such, Determination becomes more valuable (comparatively) the more Crit and Skill Speed you get.

Something to remark on though, since you're getting rid of Parry for Determination, you're making yourself require more healing over the long run: Determination increases outgoing damage and healing. While the tooltip is somewhat poorly worded, it does nothing for incoming healing and, as such, for tanks, it is a purely offensive stat. Parry rating is the only "defensive" secondary stat that we've got, which is why BiS set ups are so focused upon maximizing it.
