Even if you are running pre-50 dungeons that have the base level far exceeding that of your equipment, it will make the run longer and harder to complete if you aren't geared properly.
It would be a lot like showing up to play a round of golf with friends and pulling out some plastic golf clubs from your bag when you tee up. They may work and actually drive the ball down the fairway, but just won't meet the equipment standard that is socially expected in that environment.
OP are you trolling?
Aurum vale I could understand, before that the only guy that needs gear is the tank
But in a partyfinder group, entirely up to the leader and if you dont like it you dont join
You should at least make an effort. If your gear is over 20 levels lower than you you're kinda doing a disservice to the rest of your group.
I didn't religiously upgrade my gear for alts like I did my main but I at least looked for cheap upgrades every ten levels.
If peoples start to show up less undergeared in DF groups , maybe game will be less stressful when u have to run in DF .
Oh and about gil - maybe time to start craft or gathering at least ?
I'm sorry, but that is a poor excuse. One Low-Level Duty Roulette will net you easily 10k, and Grand Company seals. Level appropriate whites are incredibly inexpensive and you can use seals (which if this is an alt you should be swimming in) to purchase upgrades.
You have your right to xxx, they have their rights to complain and vote kick you. Fair enough, lol.
They should be reporting him for harassment, as a Tank I have to put up with a lot more physical abuse as a result of mobs/bosses pounding on me longer than they would with people wearing level appropriate gear. If you can't keep gear within 10 levels of your current level, you're really really not trying at all. Go back to fates plz. I ran Haukke yesterday. The healer had a tanking earring, spiritbond ring, gathering boots no wrists, no belt and turned cleric stance on immediatly after respawning. Aurum Vale is not a roulette dungeon, everyone there is on an alt trying to level up. That's not going to happen so well if your gear is crap.
DR give u SEALS > Go buy year with that from the company > ITS FREE
and plenty of gil to buy a necklace / rings every other tier (20ish 30ish 40ish)
isnt fun being in a lvl 35-44 dungeon and both dps have lvl 20~ weapons , lvl 9 rings/bracers/neck ect......runs take ages
after lvl 45 u get your af (but body) , free too !!!
"im poor is .....a poor excuse"
because aurum vale is a merciless mistress that shows now quarter unless your gear is at the bare minimum and you know your shit.
seriously, why isn't this instance a level 50 one?
Because it's not a level 50 dungeon?
/sigh all this talk about the cost of equipment.... run Dzamel Darkhold and get FREE gear. It's more then adequate. Almost all my gear is dungeon drops. I dont toss it or trade it or convert it until I can't use it again. I kept all my pld gear for when I lvl my war. It kinda bugs me to see people in all store bought. Makes me think they dont run dungeons very much, and I hate FATEs. Most of my "oh god this tank is the worst ever" moments he had all store bought.
low lvl accessories are so bad anyway no one ever really failed a dungeon because they were missing 3 intelligence
grand company stuff is awesome though, if you do roulettes and fates occasionally you can gear up and continue to earn gil instead of lose it
Or make battle leves. Each second leve provides you with an item. It is not HQ and shiny but it is at your level. Additionally, during battle leves you can find chests that have purple items which are more than good for the level you are at. Also, if you make beast tribes, Duty roulette and treasure hunt 2-3 times per week, you get a lot of GIL as well.
Yo guyz, y you be hatin on my lv10 pants in Aurum Vale? Tank gear my level is liek 1k gilz on AH! How I sposetwo get dat? You think gil and gear just falls outta leves and quests or sumthin? Stop beeing elitists's's's!
Trollololololololol
lol, yes you can make money with miner and botanist, it's not huge money like it was, but it's still money. and crafting is a gil-sink only if you don't know how to make money. Leveling my alchemist from 1 to 50, I made profit.. that's right, and I also bought stuff for level turn ins and still always walked away with a profit.. some times it was only 100 gil, sometimes 1000, but it was profit.
There is so much gil to be made in this game, people need to stop trying for just the 1 million gil vanya hat or 35k potash that USE to be profitable and start looking for other things. If you could mine say copper ore and get 200 pieces in an hour and make 3k, why not? it's profit, not a lot but it's quick and easy, and sells fast.. that is also the catch, if it sells fast it can be worth it too.
And you STILL can make money of the coke, potash and stuff.. so you only make 3k now a piece, that's 2 dungeon runs, in which you made probably 6 or 7 k just from gil drops then an extra 3k for the potash you sell in the ah, and if your lucky you might get something useful from the treasure coffers and sell it for 500 to 1000 gil. The gil is there, just stop looking for the lotto win and start taking in the weekly paycheck.
Heck you could go do battle leves, get gil, exp, and some gear upgrades from there too.
Or why not use your seals and get your grand company gear upgrades?
I love how people say they will report someone for harassment when they get voted to be kicked.
How? You don't know what server they are on, so you can't report them. AND if you do report them for being kicked out of a dungeon, it takes 3 people to say yes, so there is nothing they can or will do.
Buy some GC equipment.
This must be the biggest nonsense I've read in quite a while.
You are trolling and doing a terrible job at that.
You have several level 50 jobs with which you can run dungeons and dailies, which both provide plenty of gil in a single day to buy your accessoires with.
You say your DoL jobs don't generate income, I call bullshit on that too. No, you aren't going to make millions in a single day but you can make several hundred thousands with a few hours of work and checking the market.
The only reason you don't want to properly gear is because you are lazy.
No gil... HA!
Complaining about costs of gear in this game? Seriously? Dungeons and quests will give you far more gear then you'll ever need. If you only levelled through fates that's your problem. GC gear is free. And even if you end up needing to buy something...it costs more or less like the money you get from a run <.< And if at almost 50 you have starter gear....yes, you have a problem. I think you have to do an effort for having underlvelled gear in this game. Not the other way around.
if you dont grind dungeons, just go to market board and buy cheap gears and sprint bound them, that way you will have the right level gears and still make some gils back.
IMHO, 10 levels difference between job and item lvl is acceptable, otherwise just like other has mentioned, you are dragging your team down.
Do levequests. They often give you various at level weapons/gear as rewards, and the treasure chests that appear often give you pink gear. Plus you get some gil. Trade in pink gear you don't want for seals and get grand company gear instead. The GC gear ends up being best in slot for a good portion of your 30s. You can also use your tank to duty roulette the lower instances to farm gear for your alts. I'm sitting on a full set of green/pink for DoW for the 20s and 30s from playing as my WHM.
Once you are done with the gear, don't convert it. Use it for gearing your next alt. You don't have to spend any money to keep an alt moderately geared in pre-45 content. AV is the first instance where gear starts to matter, and really only for the tank (assuming DPS have an at-level weapon).
Crafting is NOT a gil-sink with BTN, MIN, and a DoW class at max level. You can gather everything you need to level all crafts without ever touching the market. I leveled all DoL/DoH together, and spent less than 20K total. By the time I was done, I had over a million gil saved up. It takes work and dedication to do this, but it certainly doesn't take mountains of gil :)
Someone who is going to be upset because you have a lvl 18 necklace (and all other appropriate gear) is a moron that you should really pay no attention too.
That being said, what's the deal with people running into 1 negative player, and feeling the need to post a thread on the forums about it?
Newsflash, there are some jerks in the MMORPG world. Fortunately, for every one jerk you run into, you're going to run into 70-80 great people who will constructively try to help you out (rather than flame you).
Focus on the good people, and ignore/block the bad.
Sure thing, but it would be better if the TS would even give an indication that he is willing to do something about it.
If you read the first post and every followup by him you see that it screams "I'm too lazy to do anything, carry me!".
Bringing a level 18 piece of gear to a level 48 dungeon because you are "too poor" to buy cheap crafted items a little closer to your level shows nothing less than unwillingness to even try.
Sorry, but that is simply unacceptible.
As it stands right now the game throws so much gil at you that you get bruises, reading "too poor" from someone with several level 50's including 2! DoL jobs complaining about not being able to make money?
Come on!
People need to understand that, there is a lot of people never played mmos before they started playing FFxiv, why not take sometime to help them instead of cursing at them?
I thought the OP'er got hammered enough by the community, so I was addressing the topic in general.
I probably shouldn't have directly quoted him when referring to the topic in general, my mistake.
In general, it's kind of ridiculous if you're running a sub-50 dungeon and people are whining about one accessory. None of those dungeons should be dependant on an individual accessory. If that is the case, the group is going something wrong. I easily (as a tank) got from 1-49 with accessories that were ilvl 25'ish (I was constantly upgrading my main gear though). When I hit lvl 50, I went and bought ilvl 50-55 accessories (so I wouldn't be an added hinderance to people running high level roulette)
I just didn't see the point in spending 2-3k on accessories that were going to add 2-3 points of vitality and strength (if you're religiously upgrading) in dungeons that were easy enough for me to tank in my current gear. If my parties were wiping because I was getting 1 or 2 shot'ed by bosses, I'd have shelled out the money. That wasn't the case though. I almost never fell below 1/4 health from levels 1-49. I had exactly one person complain about my gear the entire time. I told them, "okay, I'll look into it after the dungeon". We one-shotted the dungeon in about 25 minutes... I continued my progression and didn't think twice about it.
I'd complain. The whole run. Especially with your poor attitude.
