Duty Roulette - an end to FC friends running dungeons together.

Is it just my FC or not but since the introduction of Duty Roulette i dont see my ls/fc friends anymore. Everyone queues seperately, and by the time everyone's done the 3 daily roulettes and dailies its the evening gone and people are logging off for the night.
Im finding FFXIV is becoming an increasingly solo experience, whereas before this patch people were always talking in chat, finding parties to run AK and WP, run the primals etc and everyone hit myth cap. Now i struggle to reach myth cap because no one wants to team up anymore and i loathe going into the high level df with people i dont know due to the rudeness of people who know they arent going to see other party members again.
Would it be possible for SE to allow us to queue with friends at least partly and still get the roulette bonus?

We each do our roulettes for the insane points and then we do our normal dungeon runs and etc afterwards.

The mindset of your FC has changed based off your post. You need to find other players who still want to do what you want to do.

You know in other games... that should not be mentioned... you can do your random daily dungeons with groups and still get your bonus. I assumed this was the case when I re-subbed to XIV. The other night my low level friends were on and I thought it would be a good opportunity to help them with a dungeon and I would still get some philo tomes... NOPE.. can't queue as a party for random daily??? seriously?? I would have thought surely that would have been one of the incentives to get high level players going to low dungeons... help FC or friends out.

My friends never even got to 50 and quit well before I did. They come back and I have several 50s... Cancelled my sub again. Tired of the endless dungeon grind that has been in every MMO before this one. Old formula is old. FFXI lasted longer just because it took so much longer to level in that game. I might stick around if I could level sync outside of FATEs or Dungeons.. but I can't.

Interesting you brought this up. I leveled to 50 shortly after my brother to play together. Now we each run two roulettes .. one for phil and one for myth. Of course you can't que as a group. After that on most days we are done. The roulette is nice because it lets you do 1-2 dungeons a day and make decent progress but it also makes you want to run subsequent runs less. Depends on your free time I guess. I wish roulette you could que as a group just limited to 2. That is a good 2 hours a day people are not spending with friends/fc and being rewarded for it.

The whole point of Duty Roulette was to help all the low level characters and people stuck in story queue times, it was designed to increase queue times for those people considering Duty Finder is required to continue the story.

That being said, letting people queue up in groups wouldn't have affected that goal anyway, because not EVERYONE is gonna pre-made queue, there's heaps of solo and duo players out there... heaps of friends play together, couples, etc etc.

Glad they are changing this.

You can do the early dungeon roulette and get 10 extra phil?? Most people will run the two high lv roulettes first and often times be tapped out by then. Considering early dungeon roulette does not allow you to play with friends .. they should increase the phil bonus to 50 or something once a day. Not to mention you can get full phil so fast anyway the early dungeon roulette is pointless once you are done. I like the concept though.. it helps lower lvs go faster for sure w que times.

Low level is 10 myth and 100 philo, ms is the 200 extra philo.

This is just another way that SE has shown they don't want to build a community. Or alternatively, that they don't understand how communities outside of Japan are built.

Sad to say but Westerners (stereotyping here, look out!) have a penchant for being selfish and ignorant of the rest of their community.

It's shown pretty heavily in every game mechanic we have currently save for Coil. Duty Finder itself is antagonistic to community building because you will never ever speak with the people you run with ever again (nor can you block those you wouldn't want to speak with). FATEs encouraged you to focus on the enemy and DPS to the point of ignoring helping a tank just because they weren't in your FATE group. The story itself forces you to solo to go through it.

I am very much looking forward to them making the change to Duty Roulette, but I would honestly rather them fix the glaring problem with inter-server communications. I want to be able to party/talk with people on other servers after a really good dungeon run with them. I want to see people helping others just because it's the nice thing to do, not because there's a tome reward for doing the bare minimum.

My only beef with Roulette is getting Pharos Sirius and its frequent ability to waste 90 minutes of your life.

Definitely not saying it's perfect, but it's a sight better than Duty Finder for getting people to keep coming together.

30 minutes usually , but if someone else leaves first then 0 minutes :)

Im not even in an FC anymore , there is no point at end game to be in FC especially if you are a tank .

Only reason I would consider joining an FC is if I was levelling up and wanted buff or I had friends in the FC .

I know that the developers have mentioned that running Roulette as a group was planned since the beginning and will be added at some point. Frankly though that's a basic enough element of a feature such as this, that it should not have been released in the current state. I strongly feel that it would have been better for the community, and for the health of the entire system, had it been delayed until both solo and group queuing was possible.

Well have to agree with you OP because I am one of those who roulette the high-level and MS, submit daily provisions and crafts and beast tribe, and tap out.

Last time I used to always call out and help people in dungeons/primals for my FC but not anymore just because the dailies are just keeping me busy and timed enough before bed time. The game from being interactive and fun, becomes a job/work to me.

A change really needs to be quick, my sub is ending soon and in fact I am reconsidering the fact to re-sub or move on.

Plz SE! It is taking me 1h30 to do my 3 roulette. When i'm doing them, my FC mates need me for something but NO! gotta do my roulette! Or I ask for help in the FC chat but NO! Everyone are doing there roulette... :((((

The beginning of my play time usually begins with using the low level roulette and guildhests to level an alt class, then doing the story roulette for the philos. After that I'm queuing with my friends for CT or whatever else. The Roulette's effect on me has only been to make me do three instanced contents once a day that I may have not otherwise done, due to the bonuses involved.

Hm.. Friends, that prefer roulette bonuses instead of having fun time playing with you.. Either they are not good friends, or time is not fun... Not receiving tomes should not be a problem, game should not be a job, and tomes should not be a salary - goal of playing is having fun time after all.

They need to make it so separate servers are invisible to the players. That would require a lot of programming skill but it would be worth it .

You can only get the roulette bonus once a day. How does this put an end to anything? Besides that, it's been stated that queuing with more than one person will be possible later.

It does sound a little like it's your FC, OP. The FC I'm in is always chatting, if not in-game then at least on Teamspeak.

My FC is chatting all the time. The thing is that the roulette is so attractive and easy tome that we are all tempted to do it and since you must do them alone. My FC don't even grind tomes in AK or WP anymore, just dailies and after we are having fun but the roulette is taking 1h30 to 2h each night. That is a lot of time not playing with your friend when most of us have 3-4 hours a day to play.

Except people complain heavily about this, too. People go on and on about "more grouping less duty finder" and the one instance that requires it gets a lot of heat for it.

Pretty much this. In just about every single MMO I've seen people asking for new stuff to be released quickly, even if it means sacrificing an intended feature for the initial implementation. Devs here do that (No group roulette) and they get complaints for it.

Sorry, but no one is forcing you to cap Myth via roulette. Therefore, no one is forcing your FC not to play together. You are choosing to.

Wanna know how my FC caps Myth? We do a couple CT runs together every week, in addition to our usual Coil, then finish capping via Peisteskin Maps (We pool the money from these for housing fund, as well). Even people who have their CT item and are capped on Myth go, because it's something to do together.

TL;DR: It's not the game, it's the people in your FC that are causing the problem.

This is exactly what I wanted to say. That's what I do with my FC when I want Myth and I don't want to go through WP/AK. So, there. That's the solution to your problem, OP. I've been neglecting Duty Roulettes because I get close to capping Philos as well as Myth with enough runs.

I do all the solo stuff I need to in roughly 1 hour while doing other stuff that wouldn't me allow to group up anyways, then run group stuff until logout pretty much every day, and I play 2-3 hour tops during the week. My FC also frequently organizes group stuff like CT runs, primal runs, treasure maps and the like, and run these things as a group.

My point here is that the roulette isn't exactly the issue here.

Most of the folks in my FC seem to do the high-level DR and ignore the rest. Even if it's a timing thing, you can run any of the high levels or a few CTs with a competent FC party/alliance a lot faster than you can get through the DR for the most part.

My FC does a bunch of CTs until we get a piece for the week on the first few days.. by the time that's done and we've done our maps and such Roulette isn't even worth the time for myths..

How about they actually give Free Companies a real purpose? A lot of people complain that they're fairly pointless, and I agree. How about giving content a "If all party members are in the same Free Company: X Bonus"? Want to make money for your Free Company house? Right now you do content with completely random people, a bonus like this would mean you go with your Free Company at least...

Square really should be pushing players to find a community to join, rather than pushing the Duty "I'm never going to see these people again" Finder. This is meant to be a MMO, the current system is more like a console FPS... Actually, you can meet people in a FPS and friend them and do matches with them again, can't do that with the Duty Finder! I really find the Duty Finder to be a short sighted addition to the game... Yes, it helps lonely newbs get stuff done, but it completely destroys their ability to meet people... Get story mode Garuda done on the Duty Finder? Say goodbye to those people. Get story mode Garuda done on the Party Finder? Make three new friends, hopefully.
