Fed up of the RMTs, cheaters and other ToS breakers?

Then why not apply for a GM job! :D
While browsing the EU site earlier I noticed Square are hiring GMs for FFXIV and FFXI :)

I'm almost considering applying myself, just not sure if modding XIV would kill my love/will to play it :/

Because quitting your job to take their job offer, where you will have to follow their policies is better than trying to convince them that their policies are too lenient and letting too much damage go unmitigated. :/

Sounds like a reason to apply, perhaps they'd be more willing to listen to players about these things (DF Withdrawls, RMTs, cheats/exploits etc...) if they were more players working for them, thats if any of the Reps/GMs play either of the FF Online titles in their spare time.
Maybe some of their own staff havent experienced the problems as paying customers as often as we have, yeah their aware of the problems and how much we hate them - but thats from the "inside" with whatever powers they have and the Dev servers to roam around as opposed to the "outside" public worlds that we use.

But hey I don't know what they do as part of their jobs (and wont protend to) other then mod these boards and man the in-game help desk.

I didnt check the NA site or the JP site as their not my region but I'd guess SE America would be hiring as well given the player base. Also their hiring London as thats the EU base for their operations, you'll notice its for the English, French and German worlds/forums - not for UK games only :p

You'd still have to follow all their guidelines and processes. Heck, even if you saw someone botting as a GM you just can't delete/ban him right away. A investigation HAS to be made for each individual case.

This. You're making it sound like the only issue right now is the GM's have a lack of caring that only a true fan could provide.

I know several people who did GM service for World of Warcraft when it was located in my city, and it sounded absolutely dreadful. I don't even want to imagine the nightmare it must be to deal with this community as a GM...

Yeah, he's making it sound like all GMs are just incompetent and allow RMT and botters to run unchecked. Magically getting a job as a GM wouldn't change the game whatsoever, since you still have to follow all of their processes. The GMs are likely doing everything they can. It's just a long process.

Sorry to crush your hopes of becoming a real life GM Dave but if you don't already work within the industry you aren't getting the GM position.

Actually, you're wrong when it comes down to the game industry. Bottom of the totem poll is usually QA. QA are the ones usually promoted to GMs or leads.

Okay..simple mis-comunication error on my part, I wasnt saying or implying the GMs dont care or arent compentent at all. Exact oppisite I have respect for the GMs/Devs/the company and think their one of the few companies that actually cares about the quality of its products and the feelings of its customers, I'm well aware they have their policies to follow and cant go rogue (GM Dave blog/fiction style) as every company has its policies and procedures for dealing with well eveything pretty much.
I meant that perhaps they dont get as much time to experience/enjoy the game as a game (from the player pov) instead of a work pov e.g. handling the customer service/us, therefore tend to see things as business/development/code problems, maybe having a fresh set of eyes or mouths would help influence change.

Or perhaps they could streamline the process of complaint handling, or take regular surveys/feed back reports (other then the forum threads and customer support centres) to monitor thoughts, feelings, problems in the community, something they get workable stats with and improve upon. Maybe every quater (3 months) they sendout an email with a link to a indepth feedback questionare page, then collate the data and try to implement/trial new things. Its something my hotel chain has began rolling out in last few months. [edit] When a guest checks out they get an email as described above asking about each stage of their stay/experience from finding the hotel, to checking in, the appearence, staff interactions etc...

well the GM they got now are worthless. even the free games take faster action.

In NA, they have an opening for Senior Customer Support Manager open. That's basically the person who leads the GMs and all sorts of customer service. If you have the guts, it would be a good job. XD
