3rd Retainer coming when?

If I read the last live letter correctly, a 3rd retainer was slate to be coming after 2.1. I am just curious as to when this might be. I don't know about you.. but I really could use that space about now.

A third retainer would be nice I agree.

I hear you it sucks that I can only selling two markets I'd love to be able to selling all three and the storage space would definitely be nice as well

Ugh a 3rd one? I'd rather get rid of the second and enlarge the inventory of the only one remaining. Going through 2 retainers to find the ingridients for crafting is already annoying, one more will make it even more puzzled. I'd love to have a bigger inventory as well but why the separation through a boat load of retainers? It is all my stuff in the end. I don't need a retainer at all and prefer to have everything with me at any time to make instant use of my crafters and collectors. Right now, whenever I want to craft an item or use my fisher, I have to visit my retainers first, go through the mess that's called inventory and put the stuff back after I am done. Waste of time imo.

Wait, if I put items on my retainer to sell, only one of the three cities can see it? I thought they changed that with 2.0...

Everyone can see it, you just pay a fee/tax when you buy something not in the city of the retainer. I'f I'm sitting in Limsa and buy from a retainer in Ul'dah I'll pay a small fee for doing so. If I bought it from a Limsa retainer I just pay the price of the item.

so that is how it works I see.

So.. now that 2.15 is here.. and we now know this "shortly coming" retainer is yet to make it.. Is it possible at all to get any form of response on this? As a full crafter I have to keep things in my inventory while my retainers are packed to the brim. If I run out of my single stack supplies.. I now have a routine of farm for a day.. craft the mats.. replenish the mats (1 stack sadly) and have no room to really stock anything so I dont need to repeat this process ever 2-3 days.

Very much this. Having one retainer with more storage would be optimal and maybe changing what gear can go into the armoire would go a long way to fixing the space issues

It would be nice to have one retainer for each city-state.

I don't know...maybe I just like creating NPCs that I can boss around. :)

I also agree with this. The only drawback for this is that you would only be able to represent a single city-state but I can live with that!

Ok so.. 2.16 has come and gone.. no retainers yet.. no bag space increases.. no company chest space increase..

Are we ever going to see another retainer for personal use? I could care less if it has access to the markets.. or if you opt for just increasing current retainers space. I literally, as a full crafter/gatherer and now leveling more jobs to 50, have 12 unused spaces in my inventory and retainers. I have now made an alt so I can store gathered mats on due to the fact if I farm anything... aaaanything.. I have no space to put it. This is becoming very tedious, and now more of my FC members are starting to have the same issues.

How is everyone else dealing with this issue? Please dont answer that if you arent an active crafter/gather.. because obviously you dont have this problem.

I think they should go for the expanded storage route. Adding a third retainer which would also have access to the markets would be a disaster for the markets.

Having two retainers and 3 markets means you must choose 2 markets to sell stuff on, forgoing the last one. This forces you to think about what you're selling and where, and allows strategies like selling the same item but in a different market in order to coerce people who happen to be shopping in that area to buy your item instead of someone else's equally priced item in another market, by being cheaper because no tax has to be paid. (and yes I said equally priced, no reason to undercut when using this strategy)

Adding a 3rd one would take this away for a part, plus you'd get 50% more items on an already flooded market (or rather: a market with lots of supply but little demand), which would turn a sputtering market into a drowned one.

I want a third one, but only really cause my first 2 are modeled and named after 2 (out of 3) RL friends I played FFXI with for years, who quit, and didn't wanna play FFXIV. Now, their characters are selling my junk on the market, and a third retainer would finally allow me to make the last one :D

I had a stupid good time recreating the Mithra and Galka as close as possible to their FFXI-counterparts, and then get to see them again every time I wanna access my storage :p

Gobbie bag, and a third retainer. I wan't both, as a gatherer, and crafter...i really do feel limited, there is just no room, especially when I started cooking

And because of this my cooking is going at a snails pace (I do not want to do the easy route of leve's) I want to craft and have fun while doing it :D

One retainer for gear, One retainer for Materia and misc items and one retainer for crafting materialls.

That might work for some people, but what about when you have too much crafting/gathering materials to fit in one retainers space? I'm nowhere near a full-time crafter/gatherer (20-something levels in my highest crafting, slightly above that with gathering), but I have three slots available with my material retainer. Sure, I'd probably save space by only keeping the high-quality materials, but I shouldn't have to be that selective.

The storage issue could be fixed if they just added a bottoms less chest, or rented out storage space. Put the chest in the room at the inn or have the storage unit accessable from the market district threw a npc like a retainer without the option to sell. Have to pay a flat fee of say 100 to 500 per week per unit depending on the desired size (sm 2-3 pages, med 4-6, lrg 7-10) not only would it clear up inventory space but it would also provid a USEFUL Gil sink.

I have retainers in every city, 2 each. Plus my wife's retainers for a total of 8 atm.

How did you do that? When I want to hire a 3rd one, my request gets refused from the NPC. Do you place your 2 retainers in a particular city and then go to another one to apply for more retainers? I wouldn't mind if they belong to different cities, I only need them for storage, not for selling.

No I have alts.. lvl them up through storyline for retainers. Thus I have more storage and selling slots.
