Garuda Extreme as WAR MT.

I know I'm late to the party (went away for 2.5 weeks the day after 2.1 launch) and you folks have probably already figured this fight out. Or at least that's what I thought would be the case. Unfortunately there's a lot of incorrect information out there about this fight, especially on reddit.

I haven't figured out the exact pattern on the double Wicked Wheel, but I have worked out how to deal with it. So here's what I do:

1. Get agro on Suprana (OT takes Chirada) and focus target Garuda to dodge Slipstreams.
2. Once in position, wait until the Slipstreams go off, dodge them and then hit Inner Beast.
3. Once Inner Beast wears off, hit Convalescence and Thrill of Battle.
4. Once Thrill of Battle wears off, hit Inner Beast again.
5. After Inner Beast, use Vengeance.
6. If at any point Garuda and Suprana teleport into the air, run away from the AoE and immediately hit Inner Beast when they land (or something anyway, as they will both WW when they land most of the time).

This has worked quite nicely for me, Vengeance and Thrill/Convalescence are available for every sisters phase. If you have 3 ranged and 1 melee, have the melee focus Chirada and the 3 ranged can usually kill Suprana before you have to deal with a second Wicked Wheel combo.

This setup gives you 47 seconds of cooldowns, which is more than enough time to kill the sisters and you should survive just fine.

Anyways, has anyone figured out a reliable way to predict the WW combo? My solution is more of a brute force one, and although it works, I'd like to be able to say with some degree of certainty when things are going to go off.

It seems to pop usually after the jump. I think they intended it to pop in that order, but I've seen it hit before jump, right after jump (usually), and within 10 seconds of jump. It's frustrating because that particular attack demands preparation since 90% of tanks can't just eat it (and subsequent attacks while the heals come in). It could be a health% or timer based attack, but I doubt it.

I actually think Warrior is the ideal MT for Garuda.

The Sisters phases are between 2:30 and 2:45 apart. Warrior's big cooldowns (Thrill and Defiance) are 120s cooldowns, plus Inner Beast + Infuriate.

Meanwhile, Paladin only has Rampart for every Sister phase, but Sentinel is on a 180s.

Yup, most of the time it is right after the jump. If they haven't used it before the jump, it is always right after. The problem is if you're holding cooldowns for after the jump and they do it before, you're going to take a dirt nap. With the method I outlined above, you're covered either way.

I agree.

i jsut hit vengeance during the slipstreams, it will last the whole time whether or not its before or after jump. Then when they jump i hit thrill. A stoneskin pops on me with thrill of battle is like 2.5-3k mitigation (i have 10.5k health with thrill). Then i inner beast either target after they land. I take about 1-1.5k damage per wheel which is nothing. I also make sure to pop a storms path on at least one target before jump. We are way better for Maintanking than paladins for the above mentioned reasons.

100% agree, WAR MT works extremely well. WW before or after jump seems to be DPS based. High DPS groups it always happens after the jump. Low DPS it happens before the jump.

^^ Has been my experience as well. When I am running with my FC group, it happens after 99% of the time. What everyone has described is all very solid ways to deal with the WW's. What I do though when I know it is going to be after the jump is just Holmgang when they land.

You can also do it easy way, have OT take suprada and MT take Chi and boss. dps focus on Sup first. this way WW will come after fiction and no jump (any dps com should be able to kill sup b4 jump happen)

FYI for the PLD MT you can alternate Sentinal and Bulwak for the sister phase, I never has isseed on sister. altho i perfer OT this fight. OT got to be lazy on this fight ;P

Why is it that tanks perffer to tank Suparna and Garuda together, instead of Chirada and Garuda?

i guess it easy for malee to survive, but to me it make no different... they may have different timing but they has the same approach. also Thank to the Youtube guide and ppl just blindly follow that ><

I guess, it's baffling to me that people would want to fight Garuda this way. Downstream can be dodged when it's targeting you, so the MT no longer eats 8.5K damage worth of Wicked Wheels that require having died to the fight several times to otherwise realize when to use a CD.

Also, for Melee, Wicked Wheel tends to come in a Rotation, shortly after Slipstream. It's consistent, so if Garuda/Suparna are tanked in a corner of the Tornado, the Melee can avoid it in the opposite corner of the enclosed space.

Haven't seen it mentioned here but the jump with sisters out is triggered by chirada reaching 50% hp with suparna up, so if MT takes garuda and chirada and OT takes suparna and DD kill suparna first they will never jump and do feather rain.

is that a fact? cause then tanking suparna and garuda together is the WRONG strategy.

People tank those 2 together because of the SUPPOSED switch of suparna and garuda, but everyone I know that kills suparna first say that never happens...

I've never heard of that "Switch" And they don't swap at all when I tank Garuda with Chirada,

Because the melee DPS complain. We have our melee DPS kill Chirada with the OT, and the ranged DPS kill Suprana who is being tanked with Garuda. That way our melee DPS doesn't have to deal with Wicked Wheel at all and both adds still die relatively fast.

So... Basically, your saying we need to cater to lazy players who don't want to learn how to watch rotations, or learn patterns?

Walk to target, mash buttons.... Why can't Dragoons and Monks just learn to move more?

How is the fight supposed to work if you don't happen to have any ranged DPS then?

I have the same question , some people have tell me than is because you can get wipe for the AOE but as far I have seen you take the same damage if is in the other way, once chirada is down

The swap occurs when you tank garuda and chirada together and attempt to kill chirada first.

I haven't done the fight yet, but is easier to tank 2 of the adds at once instead of letting the DPS tank chirada as was done in the HM fight?

downburst functions like hydras triumvirate where the damage is split between all the targets hit, which should make it manageable as long as all dps stack on the person targetted by it.

We don't kill Chirada during the final phase. MT tanks Garuda + Suprana. OT takes spiny + Chirada. DPS kill Suprana then focus on Garuda. Makes the fight much shorter and spiny shield is enough to keep you alive even with Chirada still alive.

Even still, why does the MT have to tank Suparna AND Garuda Together? Wouldn't the damage be much better dealt with if spread out between the MT and OT, instead of having both Wicked Wheels potentially KOing the MT?

Because if you aren't killing Chirada once Suprana is dead the tank only has to worry about Garuda. If you swapped OT to Suprana the OT would have to then pull Chirada off the MT.

Honestly WW is not bad to deal with. You know when it's coming and hopefully the healer does too.

Because Chirada does a high-powered Downburst that does about as much damage to the tank as Suparna's Wicked Wheel, and occurs at about the same time. It is pretty much the same risk to the MT to tank Garuda + Chirada together.

So your saying....dont kill chirada...just kill suparna and then garuda....does MT take spiny? Then after mistral, chirada just disappears?

Spiny is handled like usual. 2 stack swap. Yes Chirada depops. As OT I DPS Chirada not sure how her HP affects mistral.

So to most of people pull surprana and garuda as main and OffTank Chiriada is the safe choise? :confused:

This has been my questions for a while. It makes more sense to me to split the wicked wheel up instead of having the MT eat both. I guess it really depends on party composition and gear level. Yes, OT pulling chirada is easier for melee DPS, but it is worth the MT wiping? I don't have a leveled up monk, but looking at the abilities it doesn't seem they have a ranged attack like dragoon's Piercing Talon. It's not optimal DPS but drg can sit with ranged during tornados and throw spear to avoid WW if OT pulls Suprana. I haven't beaten it with any class, though, so my input means little, just trying to get it figured out lol

Chirada Downburst can be aviod just by walking thru her. also it does less damage than sup WW. Plus boss+ Chi = no jump/swapping place then feather rain, (provide you kill Sup first)

I play drg and tank but they just take more damage. One slip and you don't have any hp, if the tanks are low heals won't notice. With drg too if you macro you could land in aoe real easy if you don't watch out. Idk about pugs, they just suck all around
