Question for DRG on Skill Speed

Hello Everyone

I haven't been keeping up with the forums for awhile as far as DRG goes. Recently a fellow drg in my FC informed me that Skill Speed got a buff in 2.1 Currently my build is STR > Determination > Crit. With this build I would do consistent damage across the board which I liked.

So my big question is, what makes Skill Speed now a solid build? Previously you needed a lot of skill speed to make it viable, and in doing so you would be sacrificing determination and crit, which lowered damage. I do understand that DRG the slowest hitting class, so on paper skill speed sounds like something you want, but I didn't find a difference personally.

I want to know what changes did SE do to skill speed(i.e. 20% potency buff) I have looked around the Rotation Reborn but didn't find a solid answer to change my build, mostly posts that said "this is the new BiS" without giving reason as to why. I'm looking for the reasons so that I may understand and work on being a better DPS :)

I'm not sure i can answer the exact changes, all i can tell you is that either way is viable and workable. I recently did a parse w/ another FC DRG of mine, 6 minutes long. He is Crit/DET and i was SS... he came out about 10dps higher, cuz i forgot my jumps O.o so, i'm not sure that by changing you will find it worthwhile or even a noticeable change in dps.

well more skill speed means u have time to add fracture without screwing ur rotations debuff , and every high alpha sustained damage DPS class in every MMO do not benefit much from lower miniscule almost useless GCD aka skill speed compared to the usual atk power + crit

You're doing it right. STR > DTR > CRT > SS

DTR increases the other stats, as well as damage in general, it's hard to beat. Apparently you need a (currently impossibly) large amount of DTR before CRT starts passing it up in usefulness.

DPS calculators and parses have shown that skill speed just isn't as beneficial to DPS as the other stats.

There are two flaws with SS. One is that it does nothing for AA while other melee stats do. THe other is its a good way to drain TP. Haven't heard many Drgs complain about it but Mnks really have to watch tp usage.

Skill Speed is "garbage", that's why it's almost everywhere now :D

hard cap of skill speed is reducing 2.5s gcd to 2.25s gcd which is a not so funny joke

In looking at the Rotation Reborn's BiS, I have noticed they changed several of the old BiS from 2.0. The changes I saw were exchanging determination and crit for skill speed. While these stat weights show that determination and crit are more significant than skill speed, what is the reasoning behind these changes to BiS?

BiS is very dynamic, it depends on the amount of accuracy you are shooting for. The guys in Rotation Reborn are working hard to find the true accuracy cap, so we can use ONLY that much accuracy, and spend the rest of our stats on dps.

The reason was the lists had to be re-generated to reflect the new stat weights. The guide has now been updated with the new weights, and BiS lists based on current progression and desired accuracy.

Personally, I don't like skillspeed as it just burns TP faster at the cost of having less of your damage-increasing stats like crit and determination. I think most people feel the same. It would be VERY desired if it worked like speed/haste in other MMOs and slightly increased TP gain to compensate with the faster ability-use.
