I wonder how determination work as a full support healer... is it useful?
It's a rather small increase to the strength of your heals. It has value but weighing up det vs crit, piety and spell speed is a very personal thing. In my eyes my preference goes MND >>>> CRIT > DET > Spell Speed/Piety.
i bother asking this question is mainly because most accessory for healer has determination stat..i prefer piety ss and crit for heals..
It's weird how the description of DET says it affects how much you're healed for and not how much you heal, yet many healer pieces have DET as secondary stat. The interpretation should be the latter right? Have people tested this?
It's how much you heal for, easily testable by healing any low level player and noticing your heal amounts stay the same. Personally I aim for SS on WHM but a case could made for any of the secondary stats:
Determination - Slightly stronger heals overall.
Spell Speed - With a decent build you can knock about 10% off your casting time and GCD. It's noticeable over having none but hardly game changing.
Crit - Widely regarded as best for scholars, since it doubles the shield effect of both Adlo and Succor.
Piety - More MP restored from Aetherflow, more natural "refresh" (the higher your max MP the more you'll naturally recover each tick).
For SCH I think the general concensus is get all the mythology accessories since they all have crit.
If Det did what it does for dps to heals then it would be better but it doesn't you can drop a lot of it and see maybe like 5 to 10 less to your healing no big deal.
As a WHM, det is your going to be your main stat that you try and get as much of. Vitality, mind and piety is automatically going to be on your end game pieces so you really don't have to worry about that much.
Det increases the amount of HP you heal. The more det you have, the bigger your heals will be.
Alkimi has it right that crit is the stat that scholars build up on because it doubles their shield strength.
For WHM it should go MND>DET>SS>CRIT
White mage is all about big consistant heals.
IMO det's the second-best secondary for WHM, behind piety.
There's a case to be made, obviously, for spell speed. But I like det as it makes you more MP efficient. The big drawback of SS is that the gains in healing will make you burn more mana. Crit sort of has that effect, but because it's somewhat irregular I don't like to depend on it and also means you need to spend lots of myth on accs.
I like piety most because being able to throw some more Cure II is better than Cure I with more det/ss/crit. And a bard can do foe or something instead of being a healer-tender.
Of course, maximizing piety means a fair bit of crit on your WHM. Hero's neck, ring and wrist have extra pie compared to allagan/primal and the Omnirod has pie/crit. I think I'd prefer to just take the Det accs. and the omnirod for a better balance.
This, as whm I prefer det as it boosts your throughput regardless of what you are doing. Spell speed only improves your throughput when you are spamming at full speed. For spaced out casts it really doesn't offer much of a benefit beyond that heal landing a tenth of a second sooner.
The more common school of thinking goes DET > SS > Crit for secondary stats.
Personally I see them as about equal.
SS is also good for chain casting, landing important heals faster, and pre-casting/cancelling heals more rapidly.
I think crit gets a bad rap. Crit is better for enhancing our hots, something SS doesn't fare so well at, and are a huge aid in recovering from big attacks. If my tank gets smashed while I'm in the middle of casting Cure I, a crit is helpful. Likewise for Cure 3 recovery from boss nukes.
Stats are subjective for WHM, get what you want. All of them give such small returns that they do not effect gameplay at all really. The biggest importance is just to have high ilvl gear so you can get as much MND as possible.
Want to be bursty? go crit.
Want mechanics to be slightly more forgiving? go SS.
Want to have more consistent HPS, and the highest number ceiling? go det.
That sounds alot more important than it really is, because all of them give roughly the same benefits, just in a slightly different manner, and when you gear for one of those three stats, you will get some of the other two somewhere down the line, which makes it even less extreme. Your playstyle won't change by going for one over the other two. Go for what seems fun.
I'd typically just avoid crit WHM builds.
The aggro generated for overhealing is obscene and a massive concern for any WHM.
Consider your pain points playing WHM or SCH, then spec around those to either minimise the issues, or, be a boss and maximise healing potency.
Piety is my favourite statistic mainly because that SoS cooldown is horrid if you mistime it or require it for enmity removal.
Healing potency isn't a concern I've ever noticed. Det? No thanks.
SS is nothing important. All boss mechanic dps is either insta chunk, or 3-5 second CD. You pre-cast, or you spam cast which matches their speed.
Until a boss fires out AoE spells <2.5s, I won't be specing SS.
Crit SCH.
Pie WHM.
(IN MY OPINION)
I'm personally going for as much PIE as possible on my WHM. More MP and better MP regen is just better for my playstyle. I don't like to stand around idle in between heals, I'll toss out an Aero, or Stone II, heck sometimes Swiftcast Holy on adds. Sitting there waiting for MP just isn't fun, and with all this high piety armor I've focused on I don't have many mana issues. (usually finish a fight with 1-2k MP left)
Maybe it's something similar to how primary and secondary stats worked in FFXI?
More MND will increase the ammount you can potentially heal for.
More determination won't increase the cap of the heal but will improve consistency.
And crit will increase the chance for a critical heal which is also influenced by determination.
For example:
normal heal: 500-600HP
normal heal with high determination: 550-600HP
critical heal: 900-1400HP
critical heal with high determination: 1200-1400HP
I love crit on my sch, its great, i got once 2 crit heals with psy and eos at the same time, one did 2045 and eos like 917
