I wonder how determination work as a full support healer... is it useful?

It's a rather small increase to the strength of your heals. It has value but weighing up det vs crit, piety and spell speed is a very personal thing. In my eyes my preference goes MND >>>> CRIT > DET > Spell Speed/Piety.
~ WHM / badSCH / Snob ~ http://eu.finalfantasyxiv.com/lodestone/character/871132/ ~
i bother asking this question is mainly because most accessory for healer has determination stat..i prefer piety ss and crit for heals..
It's how much you heal for, easily testable by healing any low level player and noticing your heal amounts stay the same. Personally I aim for SS on WHM but a case could made for any of the secondary stats:
Determination - Slightly stronger heals overall.
Spell Speed - With a decent build you can knock about 10% off your casting time and GCD. It's noticeable over having none but hardly game changing.
Crit - Widely regarded as best for scholars, since it doubles the shield effect of both Adlo and Succor.
Piety - More MP restored from Aetherflow, more natural "refresh" (the higher your max MP the more you'll naturally recover each tick).
For SCH I think the general concensus is get all the mythology accessories since they all have crit.
It's weird how the description of DET says it affects how much you're healed for and not how much you heal, yet many healer pieces have DET as secondary stat. The interpretation should be the latter right? Have people tested this?
"Affects the amount of damage dealt by both physical and magical attacks, as well as the amount of HP restored by healing spells."
Not seeing where you're getting confused here.
If Det did what it does for dps to heals then it would be better but it doesn't you can drop a lot of it and see maybe like 5 to 10 less to your healing no big deal.
As a WHM, det is your going to be your main stat that you try and get as much of. Vitality, mind and piety is automatically going to be on your end game pieces so you really don't have to worry about that much.
Det increases the amount of HP you heal. The more det you have, the bigger your heals will be.
Alkimi has it right that crit is the stat that scholars build up on because it doubles their shield strength.
For WHM it should go MND>DET>SS>CRIT
White mage is all about big consistant heals.
IMO det's the second-best secondary for WHM, behind piety.
There's a case to be made, obviously, for spell speed. But I like det as it makes you more MP efficient. The big drawback of SS is that the gains in healing will make you burn more mana. Crit sort of has that effect, but because it's somewhat irregular I don't like to depend on it and also means you need to spend lots of myth on accs.
I like piety most because being able to throw some more Cure II is better than Cure I with more det/ss/crit. And a bard can do foe or something instead of being a healer-tender.
Of course, maximizing piety means a fair bit of crit on your WHM. Hero's neck, ring and wrist have extra pie compared to allagan/primal and the Omnirod has pie/crit. I think I'd prefer to just take the Det accs. and the omnirod for a better balance.
