The reindeer costume goes in it, the snowman and santa costume doesn't.
The dragon kabuto's go in it, the horse and bunny doesn't.
Are these decisions made with a coin?

I agree, makes my blood boil.
No? New items won't go in until a patch. It's how the new bikinis and ghost costumes were. We couldn't store them til 2.1 hit.
Old items only go in if they are Unique/Untradeable. Like the Dream Outfit and Usagi Kabutos, they are tradeable and sellable on the market so not a "only obtainable once" item. You could get them again i the future if someone sold them or gave them to you, so those won't be storeable.
Santa costume and Bunny Kabutos were craftable in 1.0 and are still tradeable in the market boards in ARR.
Snowman costume and Horse Kabuto came after the armoire update. Should get in with 2.2
Dragon Kabutos are 2 years old.
I think it has to do with what was in 1.0 vs what is new.
The new stuff seems to be able to be put in after the first patch following the event.
I thought there was a post about this from SE but not sure what to even search on to find it.
However, I really wish they would add all untradeable green (dungeon and GC) and blue (dl) gear to the armoire.
It certainly is one of the sillier aspects of the game... I don't even get why the Inn Armoire is a thing anymore...
Personally, I wish they'd just do away with the whole thing, and give us an extra page on the Inventory Armoury Chest for event gear and the sort... Hopefully something like that comes with the Vanity system, because this gear is solely for vanity and vanity items really shouldn't be taking up inventory space; Minions and Chocobo Bardings certainly don't.
They're still seasonal gear, and only obtainable during these events unless someone holds onto them till later. And we have a tab especially for seasonal gear. Also the snowman outfit is untradable unique, and it doesn't go in the armoire either, and 2.1 went live less than a month ago. it's not like they didn't know about these events and their items.
The point is the Armoire is for things you cannot get again. Dream Outfits and Usagi Kabutos were some of the first event items in 1.0 and none of them were ever allowed in the Armoire. Also I mentioned the snowman outfit as being NEW, such as it will be allowed in in a future patch, same as the ghost costumes.
a real simple fix would be to only allow one unique occurrence of any item in the armoire.
They've already got items that you cant put more than one of on your retainers
I can use the armoire for anything I want in my house.
It's just silly and doesn't make a whole lot of sense.
I still don't get why they can't flag stuff for being able to be stored in the armoire prior to the patch. Maybe it's some weird thing where they want people to use the event gear through the duration of the event and put it away only after it's done?
I personally don't get too involved with the events. I do them to experience them and get whatever achievements are associated with them and then I'm done with it. I don't need 10 spots of my inventory occupied for the next two months.
I have started to dread the events because I just do not have room for the vanity items. I want them all... but with the armoire issues... no where to put them.
My question is why doesn't SE just make all event items UNIQUE/UNTRADEABLE and thus armoire acceptable? It would solve everyone's space issues. I'm glad they continue to put forth all this nifty gear and in multiple colors but I don't see a point when we're forced to pick and choose specific ones because the sheer number of them will soon be overwhelming to our storages. They don't need to be tradeable; I bought the game when I did, I was there to experience Heavensturn, why should someone that picks up the game next June have the ability to pick up 7 of the 12 helmets available? The game will be around for years and being able to show off these unique items unobtainable no other way than Heavensturn 2013 (as an example) would mean something 5 years from now. A testament to one's commitment for sticking with the game all that time.
Just my 2 cents. Cheers.
7 helmets? Only the 3 usagi kabutos are tradeable, because they were crafted in 1.0. Ok, 2 were crafted. The red one was used as a basic mat for the other 2.
old recipes:
Black Usagi Kabuto (Armorcraft, Rank 11-20) : Usagi Kabuto, Kabuto Mask, Blue Odoshi Cord, Black Urushi × 2
Silver Usagi Kabuto (Goldsmithing, Rank 11-20) : Usagi Kabuto, Kabuto Mask, Black Odoshi Cord, Silver Leaf × 2
You got the event mats with ringing a bell
The reason why SE don't just change them to U/U would be because some people would have already 2 or more from the same usagi kabuto in their inventory/retainer since 1.0.
And this needs to change. Squeenix needs to implement content fully functional with their game systems.
That doesn't actually say anything about implementing vanity holiday items as already store-able in the armoire instead of waiting months down the line to flag them as such.
The simple solution would be to let you place as many as you want into the armoire, but only ever let it hold 1.
So if you have a bunch of crap (that isn't deletable), you just keep shoving it in to condense it.
But yeah... Flagging these things as event items and thus 'armoirrable' is incredibly simple, so they've got to be purposefully not letting new ones be stored. Why? No idea, but whatever the reason, it's bollocks.
This is typical moronic SE thinking. They did it in FFXI as well.
Patch A releases event gear. Can not store it till MONTHS later when patch B comes out.
It is on a level of stupid I can not comprehend.
I think I'm pretty much done participating in any seasonal/event things.
My storage is already crammed full due to the crafting I do. I have no where to store any of these new items since I can't put them in the armoire. It's a shame too, I generally enjoy doing them. But I don't want to do them if I have to start deleting things just so I can run around with more than 5 inventory spots available.
It always seems to come back to SQE not being able to program themselves out of a paper bag or having enough foresight not to be in the bag in the first place....
People need to stop making excuses for SQE on this stuff; They don't need you to protect them, they need to dealing with things properly.
The only reason i can think of is because they seem to have this mindset that things will ever only be changed in their big patches, and if they didn't think of it before the last big patch was released, we're not getting it changed until the next one.
This is getting annoying. The events are supposed to be fun, but instead i'm just annoyed by all this vanity crap sitting in my inventory for months while I wait for them to add a freaking vanity system. Honestly how hard can it possibly be to get this stuff added to the armoire. They already know the events are coming way ahead of time.
