PvP Skill Carry Over Between GCs?

As far as I know changing Grand Company isn't something you can do all the time. You can only switch once every 30 days.

That being said I was wondering if anyone who is low level who might try it out and see if the skill learned in other Grand Company carries over to the new Grand Company, else there is no reason to change Grand Company at all.

Ur Pvp Rank is set to your GC. So if you switch it u start at lvl1 again

Anyhow, I bet the devs have not considered this at all.

2.1 Patch notes read: * By changing Grand Company allegiance, PvP actions obtained as a member of your former Grand Company will no longer be recognized.

Just got someone to test it out. The point is rather moot, there is no incentive to level another Rank 30 on another GC, you can't swap between GC cause there is a fee and 30 days IRL timer. So tell me SE What is the point of this silly system? Just for a few more achievements?

Based on fact. Tried it out already

In that case they really screwed ppl over by first saying it doesnt really matter which gc you use, and you could change it later.

These devs are so notorious for taking back their words.

Hell yeah it is. Is it even possible to have all those skills? With only 30 ranks? Devs posting pics of devs playing the game. Especially when they can just enable all content/ abilities. Shots like this kinda let you know that this is probably how they actually test the content. No grinding like the rest of us. Just, boom, all gear and abilities unlooked. Nothing wrong at all, and every thing is good to go.

in the future, each gc will have different pvp skills for all the classes. for example, a pld will have super stab that does 250 potency in grid gc, or super shield bash that ignores diminishing returns on normal shield bash in uldah gc. those are skills i made up for the example btw. yoshi-p said it, don't remember the source, too lazy to look for it.

This sounds so dumb. If I have to start back at level one "in the future" because I leveled up the wrong GC for my class...I'll be pissed.

They better just make skills GC specific but let your rank and action points carry over if they're are indeed going to do something like this.

Why wouldn't they just let you level GCs and retain skills you've bought? Kinda like leveling a subclass for one reason or another.

If this is not the case I picked the wrong GC, I'll just stop pvping. Pvp already has enough problems as it is.

How does it matter? The same PvP actions are avialable in all 3 companies. Your rank is independent with each one. That's all. There are no GC exlcusive actions yet.

Also, it hasn't been said that "it doesn't matter which GC you join" since it became possible to switch. In 1.0 Everything was basically the same in each company, and you weren't allowed to switch. Now you ARE allowed to switch, so its totally fine that there are diferences.

There is no "wrong" GC. And you can be sure that there are going to be crazy people who want to get rank 30 with every company anyway. it's not like your level is gone forever when you switch, you can switch back and your old rank will still be there.

Hell, there's even seperate pvp achievements for each company, so if you're an acheivement person, that's all the more extra points for you.

Thing is it is not feasible to level 3x Rank 30s. 2nd switching GC incurs a CD of 30days real time. So even if there a crazy dude who gets Rank 30 on all GC he has to specialize a certain role in each FC, and if such future special skills are released and say Immortal Flames have DPS-centric skills but you have already invested Caster skills, wouldn't you be pissed having to farm close to 15k Marks just to reset them to the right order?

You can get rank 30 before the CD on switching is up. Once all is said and done and you have them all leveled up, you'll have full access to pvp skills i

They already are planning to reduce the cost of the reset.

Still point is moot, you can't switch freely between 3 GC because of the 30 days CD, and you are still bounded to use the Reset items if you feel like changing roles before the 30 days CD. Then in the first place why cockblock cocklock these things into GC affliation?

The cooldown is fine. There is nothing in one company that isn't in another that can't wait 30 days. Yes, I understand what you're saying that you could use the seperate ranks for different roles, but as I pointed out and you failed to understand, they already acknowledged that the effort it takes to get a reset is excessive. It's not a moot point, the cost will be lowered and you will be able to respec.

What I'm worried about is the 'frontline' battleground coming up in the future, while there is not much info on it yet, they pretty much said it was a 3way fight, gc vs gc vs gc. If it q's us with people only from our GC how are we going to play with friends in different GC ? :/ I mean I don't mind changing GC but if we lose all of our pvp progress...

Oh well I had enough of Marauding, I'm going to become a Battle Healer BLM. Main Stat Int, Mnd, SpSpd, focusing on Assist Healing, CC, and Scathing/Fire 3>Bliz 3 weaving. Cause as it stands my current Lvl 40 BLM is so strong in healing and if given time to cast can pull some serious deeps.

I never understood why blm gets healing boost traits but people who could get good/more use out of it and have more mind don't.
