Treasure hunt rating, what does it mean?

Since I havent seen anything on this.. or im blind and someone can point me to it.. I am curious for a response concerning the bronze, silver, gold ratings for completeing a treasure hunt.

I have yet to gold star a lower level (toadskin and lower) treasure hunt. Which makes me have some assumptions. Are these ratings tied in to the map itself? As in.. the maps are random.. which we know.. the mobs are random.. which we know.. loot is random.. which we know but.. gold ratings seem to give better rewards. So my assumption currently is, the solo maps randomly give a rating, which in turn is for that specific random roll you just had on the mobs/loot etc. All you can do is pray you find a gold rating map.

Now, I say this because I have even taken a person or 2 with me on these maps and we still did not get better than silver, and sometimes a bronze. Its a bit hard to figure that as we nuked the hunt in less than 20 seconds.. the rating wasnt gold.

How are you seeing the rating? This is something I've never noticed.

I thought they rewards were random. I usually do the Peisteskin map exclusively, and I've seen anywhere between 5-15 myth, 1500-5000 gil, random amount of shards and crafting materials and a random amount of things to show up in the loot pool, like chinchilla hide, glass lens or aetherial items.

The rating pops up in the middle of the screen just like in FATEs. I haven't payed too much attention to it and I just figured it was based on whatever rank the chest itself was (gold, silver, or bronze chest).

What he said, it pops up like a FATE would. I have some assumptions on it similar.. but would love a confirmed meaning.
My assupmtion is that the treasures you find, loot wise and possibly mob spawn wise, are rated. Every single peisteskin map I have done with my FC has been gold. I assume however, that the boarskin and lower have ratings associated with them based on loot, mobs etc. That rating is shown to you at the end of the completion.. telling you if you were lucky or unlucky and got the best loot roll/map of that particular treasue hunt. I can further assume, if that is correct, that the lower the level the map is, the greater the chance of the rating of it being lower. I have yet to do any leather maps, but I would bet most of them you would see bronze ratings.

Hmm.. so nobody really knows or can point me to a statement regarding this?

Ok, so I did some testing, went back and checked some screenshots and I think I can confirm a few things.

The chest you find will be a bronze, silver, or gold.. which in turn is the rating you recieve when completing the hunt.
It seems certain rank maps give specific rank chests. Peiste - gold, Boar - silver (though I think it is possible to get a gold), Toad - silver, Goat - bronze (though again I believe it is possible to get a silver), Leather = bronze. I didnt have any screenshots of a few maps I had done, but I could swear I did gold a boarskin (rank 4) and I believe I have gotten a silver goatskin.

I did some maps last night and got gold rating and yet still got the lesser reward for Peisteskin maps 3/4 times. (5 myth, 1500 gil) Nothing in our party comp changed between the fights. We had 4 people and used our chocobos. So I honestly don't know how it calculates the rewards but getting a gold medal doesn't limit you to one tier of loot.

The only time I remember getting Silver was when I picked up a Toadskin Map, blissfully ignorant of the tiers. Otherwise I seem to get Gold on every Boarskin Map Treasure I dig up, regardless of how hard I suck at DPS that day. :p

The tier loot reward difference I was refering to is between the ranks. Meaning, peiste > boar > toad > goat > leather. But, you can always tell if you got the better roll via how much gil was given. It seems with peisteskin maps, that when you get the 5k gil ones you also end up with more rollable drops and sometimes a tome mat x8.

The assumption I was having however was that some maps, though I could be wrong, seem to have a chance to dig up 2 different tier chests. I could of sworn some maps have the chance of either silver or gold.. and the other lower rank maps between bronze or silver.

How about the gathering %'s on maps? Haven't made any comparison's on loot, but I've gotten probably 10 or so piesteskin maps and I've noticed a difference in gather rate. Most of the time it's 60, sometimes 45, occasionally 70 (though I cant remember if that's just the tree with 10% gathering bonus.)

Has anyone else noticed a difference?

I too have been wondering about the battle evaluation system and if/how it affects the treasure loot. I have also been trying to figure out what does affect the evaluation itself. Some people believe it depends on the map itself, but there's also factors such as # of participants and killing speed. I have always been soloing all my treasure maps (I can't get to the lv50 ones yet), and always got bronze. Then one day I joined a friend in a full party to burn through his 8 maps. I don't know if they were all peisteskin maps or not, but never once did we get less than gold rating. It really leaves you wondering.

The color of the chest and medal is predetermined by the map type. Bronze = Leather and Goat, Silver = Toad. Gold = Boar and Peiste. Your performance and number of participants has no effect on what you get. However, rewards are randomly split between participants (and not always evenly), and anything less than peiste will also split gil and tomes (piestes do not). So it is always best to do anything below a piesteskin map solo if you can, the rewards after being split for them is just not worth it.

Also, there are two "levels" of rewards for all maps - regular and triple. Triple will get you 3x tomes and gil, and usually more HQ mat rewards as well, although I do not know if things like minions are exclusive to these triple payouts.
