Vote kick making dps rude?

So I hate to be that guy, since I rarely tank, today I felt like practicing my tanking, it seemed like almost every party I joined, while I'm marking the adds, a dps would pull, and when I let them know they can tank, they rudely act like its my fault when they can tell I'm in the middle of setting up a pull. the last few even acted like because they pulled and I refused to try and take aggro off of +1 dps, while I'm not a +1 pld, that they could kick me. I understand I told them to tank, but there's no reason to be rude when your not properly doing your job. This right here, makes me not want to tank, the fact that now people can get away with being rude, and pin the kick on someone else, for properly doing their job, while the person kicking is not.

Anyone else come across this at all today? :o

Use Party Finder to setup or join a group with the same expectations.

Its nothing new and its not like he can kick you alone. The vote to kick system won't fix the trolling and rudeness.

Perhaps they thought you were going a bit slow or perhaps they were too impatient. I encounter both kinds of dps and tanks in my groups: tanks that like taking their time marking everything and it feels like a snoozefest and dps who have had way too much coffee and just chainpull everything and not letting a tank mark anything at all. Both are pretty annoying there needs to be a balance of tank being quick to mark and dps having enough self control not to pull everything.

Doing do doesn't allow one to use the Duty Finder Roulette, or get commendations. Meaning if I do nothing but use party finder, I'll get less tome and money in the long run.

And trust me, I stopped for a few seconds to mark adds, and they just pulled xD both dps. It had nothing to do with being slow.

Pretty sure "Bad" isn't a reason for kicking in accordance with DF kicks. Abusing that is a sure fire way to get a GM action in no time if SE is at all serious about it.

In fact, the 4 "Accepted" reasons are as follows:

afk
offline
harassment
cheating

I say, if they do boot you, report said players for being asshats, and then move on- you won't get re-entry timer'd for it.

Am I the only DPS in the world who feels happy when inexperienced/properly geared not overgeared tanks decide to not make a speedrun the very moment they see my flashy relic? Am I the only DPS in the world who feels happy when I do not have to carry the entire team because they want to play above their own ability? You did the right thing if you ask me.

To me it seems like the D wanted to do a 15> speedrun and you did the right think going on in your prefered pace.

I didn't stop to think about that o-o It's quite true, although I doubt anything would happen if they were reported. xD

Depends on how serious SE are. If they do nothing and allow people to votekick for inane reasons "coz u r wearin pinkz!" then people will take that as a motion from SE that they can boot people for any reason. If SE wants to strongly enforce the allowed reasons for booting to deter idiots from booting for inane reasons, they issue a 24 hour temp ban, the idiots complain, people see that SE are serious and only use the votekick for the correct reasons rather than risk a 24hr temp ban.

Obviously the main issue is proof, how do you prove you were not afk, so take screenshots if you're booted for no reason so you can show you was not afk.

Hate to say it but probably not. However, it's too stupid of a risk to honestly take since all it would take is a GM about a minute to look at the chat log/reason of kicking to pass judgement- so it is too simple of a thing to not look into unlike say, bots and such.

And I won't lie- I notice gil spammers are usually dealt with pretty fast lately, as in there are a few times when I went to hit my black list macro and the were already deleted.

Long point short, the risk for said impatient melee is too much.
Besides, they risk getting a worse tank and being back in square 1 if they take that option.

Not really, the AFK is easily disproven. All MMOs I played since UO gave the GMs the ability to look at all logs around the incident, so all a GM would have to do is glance at a battle log to see the afk claim was bunk.

Don't use Duty Finder to practice tanking. You can't trust that complete strangers will be patient or even care whether you are trying to become a decent player with that class. Personally, I stop and take time to explain and teach new tanks when I can, when I can't I wish them luck and move on before it becomes a painful run. If you are going to learn, the best people to do it with are FC members that you are comfortable with, or RL friends. Patience is not inherent in MMO gaming and never will be, accept that and work around it.

Honestly nice thing about trying new things on DF is people are more prone to give you an opinion when they know they will probably never see you again ;p

That opinion, usually taking a sour note when things don't work out so well. To each their own, if DF works for you then stick with it, personally I feel more comfortable running new content or trying new things with people I'm familiar with.

I had a dps do the same thing last night in the keep while in duty roulette. . . Our tank was a bit newer in terms of being a tank but not as a player. Our dps was a +1 bard and a ruda weapon Drg. The bard and I repeatedly asked the Drg to slow down on the tank as we were all way over geared for the tank. Meaning we had to a bit play down to the tank and the tank play a bit up to us.

There were moments we provided some constructive criticism to the tank, which he took and did really well. Over all we started off a bit rocky and had some trouble at the wall bc I had to cure through and tank a bee. Again the tank being a bit under geared and our dps clearly able to burn down the wall.

OP sometimes these are the things we have to deal with in DF, its there for us when our statics or friends aren't around to still be able to progress. You did the right thing.

You probably didn't come from wow lol. Better GET USED TO IT. Thank blizzard for bringing all the xbox live kiddies into the mmo genre. Its ruined now and every game you play from here on out will be chock full of rude scrubs that use the anonymity of the web as a tool to act like a tool.

The only chance to ever be in a community driven game with mature adults is if some dev decides they want to rescuscitate the genre and put the true demographic of the genre back on the map before filling his wallet. Then a game will be created with immersion, that requires time and an investment... that is difficult and fosters teamwork, where death holds meaning. Something where the wow kiddies your referring to will either be ostracized by the entire community the minute they act like a prepubescent entitled child, or quit because its "too hard"

Im probably dreaming of better days though. Even the wow devs agree with me nowadays :( They created a monster.

Sounds like most parties, even before votekick.

I did a Guidhiest on Daily Roulette earlier, terrible group.
Healer didnt even cast protect on the group (in end I did since i was leveling the PLD), one of the DPS just ran off and started attacking groups and continued to do so - i ended up racing him, almost considered just letting my character auto-attack to let him "tank".
We won, but I decided that would end my instanced fun for the day and finished exploring a few zones.

just let the players bee rude . its weird to police behavior in an fictional element, especially if its violent like a video game.

All I can say is, take the time before the run starts, to remind the ranged DPS, they have to give you time to run in and make your pull.

Most low-level dungeon problems like this are caused by enthusiastic, probably well-meaning ranged DPS who start shooting from their extreme range, before you get in Shield Lob/Tomahawk range, and then you get to watch the mobs run right past you as they charge the tasty treat that shot first. Then you have to do a flurry of work to get them back.

If you can't get them to listen (I had one a couple of nights ago, a Thaumaturge who kept running off WAAAAY ahead of the party) then you pretty much have to chalk it up to a busted run and let them die. Over. And over. And over... :)

When I'm tanking, if the DPS pulls a mob before I do, or attacks it before I am able to land my 1st enmity building ability, they get to keep the mob all to themselves. It is then up to the healer if he/she wants to heal the idiot DPS. Its always hilarious when they dont, and we stand there while the mob kills the DPS and resets. Then we pull correctly as he watches from the floor.

A couple of days ago I was running CT, and our tank got kicked because he was new and made a few mistakes. I told my party they were harsh for kicking him and I got kicked too.

What's worse is that it was only 2 members of the party that were vocal through all this, and so the rest of the party just went along with it. It's just too easy to kick someone in CT because they are replaced almost immediately.

Well dps were rude even before 2.1..so maybe your just new?

The a good chunk of ppl that play dps, have bigmouths and act rude because that's who they are.
It's more predominant in DPS, than tanks or healers. I doubt it has anything o do with the kick system, since they are just as vulnerable as you.

When I get DPS that attack what they want, no matter what, I just break them in, like wild horses.
Let them take the aggro off you, and don't take it back, let them get low a few times and they will get the message, if they don't, then let them die.
No biggie you don't need two dps anyways, plus dps are replaced quickly with finder. So just vote them out if the party see's what your seeing.

Sorry impatient dps, I will let you die. Vote kick me? Ty for no leave penalty. You want your tomes? Dps and don't run ahead pulling. That goes double for those mean, silent healers that pull with an instant right when I '/' at a boss. The only reason I don't run outside the instant and then force d/c after I /point /laugh at you after you've wiped is because there are two others that weren't being d**** and were doing their best.

DPS, Tanks and even Healers didn't wait for votekick to be rude.

I personally don't mind DPS pulling when I tank. I just inform them of my "You pull it, you tank it" policy. Let them do my job, if they're fine with it, who am I to complain? The healer's the one who has a harder time because of them.
As for when I heal, I only heal DPS who don't pull (except if it's the team's strategy). Wouldn't want to get all that hate directed to me, right?

If that gets me kicked, well, Amyas said it all. Hasn't happened so far.

Nothing aggravates me more then trying to pull a few mobs from a room to pull them back to safe spot and I have a DPS right behind me following wanting to pull the whole room...

Rude people stink. but Some things to help along tanking might make it a little less unpleasant.

1. make a marking macro. put your first attack ranged ability in a macro with a mark. This way you don't have to pause to mark and I also keep the unmark version. If you target nothing and hit this ability it pulls up the marking icons for faster retrieval also.

Most of the time the dps should be on that main target.

Voice yourself in the beginning of the dungeon , "Hi everyone, I am New to tanking and want to keep this fast for you so I will be marking and would love it if you could stay on target after i hit it"

You would be surprised how well people respond when they know what you want before you do it.

Dps are a dime a dozen. Just move onto 'good' dps...

I am a little confused on these "you pull it, you tank it" policies. Are we talking about DPS who run ahead and pull mobs without even waiting for the Tank or DPS who pull enmity off tank mid-fight? I really hope it's the former.

What I (and just about everyone I've seen) call "pulling" is the act of initiating combat.
I was under the impression that's the meaning of "pull" that was used in this whole discussion, maybe I understood it wrong?
