[PS3] Autorun & Camera Zoom

There's currently an issue I'm experiencing on the PlayStation 3 version of the game.

Pretty much anywhere in the game the controls lock to 'autorun' when you're actively adjusting the camera and the character randomly runs in different directions, negating all controller input and having no responsiveness what so ever for a brief period of time... Typically complete disobedience with regards to controller input.

I have experienced this problem before in Titan & Garuda HM trials, but it was never as frequent nor' severe enough to be worth making a report.

Now though the frequency of the issue has drastically increased, so it happens everytime you adjust the camera after the implementation of patch 2.1.

It toggles on everytime you want to adjust the zoom, which is really annoying in instances since I don't want to autorun into every single AOE the game throws at me or wipe the party of all their hard work and effort just because I use a joypad and wanted to adjust the viewing.

It appears that the frequented lag on the servers causes the likelyhood of the autorun activating to increase.

A surefire way to experience this problem is just to move and adjust the camera zoom at the same time, effectively having both functions on a single button can cause the autorun and the camera zoom function to activate at the same time, when you only just want to execute one of the options.

Possible solutions are:
- Remove the autorun function completely from the joypad.
- Allow us to assign the autorun to a different button (that is seperate from the camera zoom adjust).
- Completely disable the autorun functionality when the camera zoom is adjusted.
- Change the autorun function to a hold rarther than a toggle (though this kind of eliminates the point).
- Disable the use of autorun either in instances or when engaged in battle.

Preferably, change the response timing on the button press so that the time needed to hold the button is longer to activate the autorun (5-10sec hold). This is appropriate as most camera zoom adjusting is very quick and snappy (much like bursts) and a longer press to adjust it is not needed.

...or just change it to how it was before patch 2.1.

I hope that SE can be brought to light on this issue as it is quite discouraging to participate in instances and movement intensive gameplay with an input problem such as this.

I, among others, are having the same problems. It's going to be almost unplayable if you're planning on doing anything that is very move intensive.

I have been running into similar issues using gamepad on PC. Prior to 2.1, I hadn't seen any issues regarding this, but today I realized that randomly while changing target set (LB+a/b/x/y), adjusting camera zoom, or anything that uses LB, autorun had been oddly triggered. It was so unexpected that it actually caused me to autorun off the edge of the Titan battlefield in one instance...

Please. This makes it unplayable for me as a Tank. I need to be able to zoom out in case I lose aggro

I really hope the devs see this. It makes everything unnecessarily harder.

the game is pretty much unplayable that way.
pre 2.1 patch the auto run feature only needed a long press of L1 while holding L1 we could adjust the camera zoom.Post 2.1 patch whenever we press or hold L1 and we're on the move it goes off to autorun too.Camera zoom adjustment on the move is essential and auto run breaks it completely

It happened to me too, but not that often. Still a bit more frequently than previously.

I would like to ask anyone who hasn't done yet: sent a bug report via the ingame support desk menu and explain the nature of the problem, so we can raise awareness to SE and get it on the 'fix list'

That's a good idea. I'll be doing it as soon as I log on.

As someone who always has his camera zoomed out as far as possible, this is actually game-breaking. I don't feel comfortable going into tough fights anymore and it makes nearly everyone using a gamepad severely gimped as zooming out is integral for a lot of people to get a good feel of what's going on in the area.

Hell, even Yoshi said the reason people couldn't beat Titan HM was because their cameras weren't zoomed out enough >_>

I am having the same issue. I tried to remap the autorun key, but the camera zoom is linked to it so it follows the button you assign it to.

It was never a problem before the patch, and it causes huge problems when you are fighting and you start auto running.

Been getting this a lot, too. I'm wondering why we aren't allowed to simply disable the Autorun feature from the control configuration setting.

I will be sending a in game message as soon as I log on.

Strange how they don't allow us to seperate the functions from the same button.

I've tried to avoid moving as much as possible so I don't experience the problem too much.
A few players didn't want to party with me because they thought I was lagging and had a bad connection due to the erratic movements I made.

this is a game breaker! please fix! my character is dizzy from running in circles!

while the XHB is toggled or held open. you can use the LB or RB to cycle enemy targets. and with the new patch LB will no longer initiate auto-run when the XHB is up.

Yes, I am having the same problem and it is making the game nearly impossible to play, unless I don't touch my camera at all.

Still no news of changes. There must be a lot of PS3 users on this game playing, who may have stumbled across and risen the issue.

So far it doesn't look like this is the case. Are we really the underdogs?

I normally don't ever post in these forums save for bug reports, but I have to agree.
It feels like they increased the sensitivity for Auto-run.
I can't change the camera without moving into auto-run immediately.

I actually ran off the edge of Demon Wall in AK due to this.
I checked the gamepad config, but you can't even shut autorun off.
I would rather it be able to be locked to R3 or L3 rather than L1.

I noticed that this may help with the situation, but I would hardly call it a fix. Try it out and let everyone here know if it works for you at all:

EDIT: I realize that my wording's a bit strange (or maybe it's just me), but basically the issue is that the order we press the L1+R-Stick combination in determines whether or not we end up in auto-run.

Regarding losing controller of my gamepad periodically as I play. Have any of you had issues after you turned the autorun off with the controller continuing to stick? I myself am trying to stop from zooming in\out on purpose to see if it helps the issues I have been having.

The issue isn't as much the need of a separation between the bindings, it was 99% perfect before, something must have been tweaked and that is the issue.

Unfortunately I have wiped quite a few times due to this - and had groups leave me :(

Yeah i tried this too, I wish i could just turn it off.

This is ruining the game for many, devs get in here!

Mysteltain, the way you describe doesn't solve anything really. It still activates the auto-run no matter what combination you are trying to use. I have tried everything I can think of to remedy this problem, but nothing has worked. Would be nice if the devs could at least comment on this subject, to at least let us know they are aware of it. If they plan to fix it is another topic altogether.

Really? It's worked every time for me. Maybe I just had a streak of good luck with it O_o

It appears the problem isn't solitary to the PlayStation. A few of my friends who use the joypad on the PC version have said that they're experiencing the same problem.

auto run is not a useful feature, at least how its set up now. im constantly tweeking camera during fights and this throws me off bigtime. maybe just make a cross bar button for it, or just get rid of it completely. just adding my voice to the thread in the hopes that devs remove the feature.

Yeah this isn't just on the ps3. I play on pc with a 360 gamepad. Ever since the patch I've been getting this issue. I thought it was me doing something wrong or going crazy (My boyfriend who plays on gamepad on pc hasn't got the problem). Makes me relieved that others are having this issue. Hope this is looked into.
