Sorry if its already been mentioned before, i searched the last few pages in the forums but didnt find anything on this subject.
My question is does anybody here feel that rollbacks (with ranks and money) are needed?
I ask because it just seems as though so many people have ranked a bunch of jobs to r50 and have earned so much money in so little time (not even a year). This is an advantage that many players have earned with their time, but i cant help but feel that once a new system is implemented that maybe this is something that needs to be looked at. Then again, maybe some people can suggest reasons as to why its not needed.

No, for one this is preposterous idea. Simply joining your abstraction, it is not a real issue because so few people are still playing the game. When the population increases those who have earned a lot of money should keep it because they played for a long time. They will be dwarfed by the newcomers.

rollbacks aren't needed because if characters get rolled back and people lose all of the hard work that they put in for 9ish months, they will quit. A lot of people have worked very hard to get what they have (Some more than others). If they have that work stripped from them, it will cause a hell of a lot of problems for SE.

The ranks and the gil I have at the moment have been worked for- I have put my time and effort into the game for these so if they roll them back and take them away, I will rip their arms off and beat them with the soggy end....
So no.. I don't agree with rollback. It may be an "advantage" over others that may join later, but we deserve it for the time that we put in and sticking with the game until it is fixed- it is not our fault, so why should we be punished?
When I first started playing FFXI 5 years ago it was on the 360 Beta (*awaits the 360 flaming lol*) and I did not think at the time "Hey! All these PS2 and PC players have a few years advantage over me- why don't SE rollback their levels and gil to make it even, it's not fair". -

It was previously confirmed that character rollbacks are off the table and they will deal with the current gil in other ways.
If the new players don't outnumber the current players, then they didn't really fix it. -

Such a rollback would be near to the same extent as character wipes. And it was said that they'd never do character wipes.
Besides, I find it pointless that they would do a rollback/wipe after some 3 or so events that gave us gear. -

Im not here saying that we should get roll backs. I just feel that the whole freakin game is almost being rebuilt from scratch. The combat system is going to change and the crafting needs changing (IMO). I just dont know if the new developers have in mind what the old developers did. Maybe he wants to get rid of certain jobs or skills, maybe he wants to make the ranking system different. A thought is that if this game is going to change so much, maybe some people thought that characters would be affected too. This is not something i want..its actually something i fear and i just wanted your opinion on it -

Silly post but i'll reply anyway, taking away our levels is punishing those that have stuck with the game and continue to try and impove themselves. Taking a way gil again punishing us for being loyal to the game its silly to do a roll back forcing every back to a weaker/poorer state. Taking gil out of the economy is a good thing and to do that they could easily add a high level dungeon that costs gil to enter now the high level players will go in and do this giving the new players time to level up and collect gil. Once the economy is more stable SE can then lower the gil cost (similar to what they did with dynamis going from 1m to 500k and limbus 50k to 25k) making it easier for the newer players to enter.
Yoshi P has stated he wouldn't do a roll back or reboot of characters, and thinking that its an easy fix is just folly. -

Meh, it's entirely possible to do drastic changes without a character wipe, though. Hell, WoW's done one with every expansion, it seems like.

Rollback just because they're changing the system? I don't get it lol. If anything rollbacks should be for when there is a massive exploit that breaks the game (ie someone found a way to obtain cap gil or millions of SP in a matter of hours).

Gil isn't a problem in the game, we're just stuck with a high number economy. I know loads of people who have or are near 100mil gil, it's not a lot of money. It just looks it because it's a big number. They do need to up the current cap from 999,999,999 however as people will be reaching it before long.
Anyway rolling back anything would be a fast way to kill FFXIV. The playerbase would drop to 0 over night. -

Silly question to ask here, it's like asking a rich man if they should take all his money away to feed the starving. Never gonna get anyone to agree to it on here, if it turned out to be something that scared off newcomers or returnees they might consider it but I think the game design itself will mean it's not really needed.
They have/will make leveling really really easy and gil of very little concern. It's always been touted as a casual MMO and so it makes sense to make these things easy to attain for newbies, people with lots of gil and levels will be very little better off come PS3 release, it's in Squares intrest to make sure of it.
The playerbase the game has right now is as good as 0 anyway, the numbers the game has in no way can sustain it. It needs a massive injection of new players to even break even.Quote:

Rollback is off the table.
The drastic changes will occur in such a way that we will keep our class ranks, though the abilities attached to them are subject to change.
If crafting needs change... I'll be on equal footing with anyone who ranks their crafts up to the level I'm at. Changing my character development strategy after the changes is far more acceptable than being forced to spend time I don't have getting back to where I was. I made all my progress during the winter months... I likely wouldn't be able to repeat the grind until we get back to that season. -

On Topic: No wipe coming. Aside from them already explicitly stating they would not, if they then backtracked and did so.... well it's not the best way to reward your most loyal players.
