Yes, GLA/PLD got suck weapons this time
so back to Curtana Zenith
Dual haken seem really good to me, i'll try to get it as soon as possible...i've just found heavy allagan cuisses, and replacing the darklight ones (losing something like 20 accuracy if i pair them with myth boots) it's not that easy...but with this axe...
Dual Harken will be the tanking go-to Axe without a doubt. There is no debating it, Allagan Battleaxe is just for PvP/Mar DPS purpose only. Also the other ilvl 90 shield is a Lantern Shield, which as previous calculations have shown is good for multi-small hits encounter (WP Speedrun), but still fall short in real tanking situation. Using that shield will net you more DPS via Shield Swipe in the event that you are good on threat.
However there are situation where the ilvl 90 new shield is good. Which are situation you rather guarantee your block and take a slightly harder hit which in my opinion would be somehow good on HM+ Titan at least.
Crests Not Allowed
What does that mean!?!
FC are able to put their FC crest on certain item. You can't have your fancy Yellow Chocobo mark on them thats all. Doing some datebase searching new EM Garuda will have a new feather called "Spiny Feather" and all EM primals drop a new crafting material. Crag Heart, Inferno Horn, Vortex Feather. Porta Decumana is the locale for EM Ultima Weapon which, drops no crafting materials.
And based on the short EM Titan snippet, the sumo move doesn't seem to be LoS able with the 2 Gaols that happen, by getting close enough to take less damage probably but not too far as to fall off from the platform. The Titan egi that is summon would be called Granite Gaoler which probably should be killed unless it is proven to have an expiry time.
I. want. that.Axe. :3
/nerdgasm.
Happy you guys are getting a good tanking axe finally!
Happy for the warriors finally getting a solid tanking axe with accuracy.
Really bummed about the GLA/PLD ones though, those stats are just awful... I guess i'll get them, along with some DRG/MNK jewelry and build a dps setup for when i'm tanking trivial content like HMs.
To bad the Allagan Axe is BiS, no matter what you are doing.
It's so depressing that new weapons pretty much just mean a reshuffle of secondary stats.
Could we get some secondary effects here soon, please?
Because everyone and their mother has the Allagan Battleaxe, right?
Yes, it's BiS. But if you don't HAVE it and aren't FARMING Turn 5 then you can get this weapon and not be constantly starved for accuracy at the cost of so many other stats that would be helpful. Are there seriously people out there who are just like 'Why get this? It's not BiS!'? How did those people make it through the story? Naked?
Sorry my group only gets axe drops from T5.
The point of BiS is thinking about how to gear for future. I'm not gonna get something with myth if it is just going to become useless later. You can beat T5 with +1 relic, there is no reason to get this new axe if you have the +1 relic. Your time would be better spent practicing T5.
*Swings own Allagan Battleaxe*
On a serious note. If there was a progression that put's my survivability in question I WILL downgrade that Allagan Battleaxe to Dual Harken. +1 WPN DMG +3 Str is good for threat, but very bad in the respect to mitigation. People need to get out of their head that higher ilvl = automatic better/BiS, I knew the ilvl 90 Axe was going to be good, but I was expecting Acc/Crit not Acc/Par which is the perfect stat needed by warriors.
Just as much as a time when Pentamelded Gryphonskin will fall out of grace being BiS due to harder hitting content. Allagan Battleaxe will fall out of grace being the BiS just cause it doesn't have the essential mitigation stats.
On the flip side it does seem that the alternate set for Paladin is more DPS orientated, just like how Allagan Battleaxe is for Warriors.
so as a WAR who knows all too well how hard it is to keep ACC capped with relic (or +1) i would say allowing your tank to get the dual haken which is basically same stats as allagan (but much easier to obtain, no RNG drop and EM should be easier then T5) to allow every other part of gear to go to the optimal "BIS" setup and not be restricted to the "BIS with no acc on relic(+1)" in order to keep ACC where it needs to be is more then enough reason to practice T5 a bit less and clear the EM primals.
plus, from quick chats from my FC members, WAR are not the only ones who will benefit right away from the EM wep until they can get T5 down or get the RNG drop for their jobs.
also why would you spend 900 myth if relic+1 isnt BIS by your statement. if +1 is needed for T5 then you do EM or spend myth on non-BIS items, so which is it?
I am guessing it is a quest to obtain the Axe?
I tohught it would be a drop.
I hope the quest allows the player to pick a weapon. I'd really like WAR GA but will surely be stuck on PLD for extremes.
Sounds like each EM primal drops an item that you turn in for the weapon. Not sure if that means it'll be a quest, though I personally think it will be since it seems to be SE's track record.
I'm not sure why Allagan is being regarded as BiS, I think its very arguable that in most MT situations our new axe will be BiS.
I believe Allagan axe affords more vitality/wpndmg/strength than the Dual Harken.
The extra 3 vitality, even if small, would be more beneficial given that Parry is an inconsistent effect that only works on Physical.
I haven't looked at BiS when using the Dual Hakken but its also entirely possible that we can itemize less ACC on other gear and gain those stats back if not more. Totally theoretical suggestion on my part, just pointing out that Dual Hakken could also change what other items are BiS.
It's actually 4 VIT, but still, how can you justify taking a weapon with a few higher stat points 1 higher weapon damage and little mitigation potential over a weapon that's clearly designed as a tanking weapon? It doesn't matter if Parry is random, it's one of the main WAR mitigation stats.
They are both aimed at tanks.
They provide a massive amount of vitality, but one offers parry instead of skill speed.
Vitality is one of the main mitigation stats for a Tank and is arguably the most important one.
Parry does not offer much mitigation, and as I stated earlier, only function on physical.
Vitality functions for EVERYTHING and should be prioritized over Parry.
You'll be better off as a tank going for the extra vitality.
VIT is a better defensive stat than Parry is the thing. Parry is % chance, VIT is a constant. You'll always have that extra X amount of health, you won't always parry X amount of times every fight.
Except that sacrificing Vitality IS sacrificing defensive stats.
It doesn't matter if you have just enough health to not get one shot.
The more health you have, the less likely you are to die in the event of spike damage.
It also means your healer has more time to react, to fll your HP bar up.
Parry does not do that.
It only works once in awhile, and its only on physical.
Parry does NOT help you during a progression of ADS when he turns around and decides to clock half your health off.
Both look pretty good to me from a DPS standpoint, faster AA speeds and all. I definitely want.
Dat Axe! :p
So it looks like until you get Allagan Axe... Dual is BiS, with a few of the new accessories being BiS over Allagan. My oh my... But outside of that? That Axe is so beautiful that I want to shed manly tears.
When I saw the preview and saw that axe, I immediately told my FC "I want that axe nao, idc about my Bravura+1 anymore" and surely enough it doesn't disappoint. :)
