Really? Reactions to the patch.

Patch 2.1 is huge with lots of new fun stuff to try, and all people do is complain? Logged on the see what people will think is fun and discuss on the forum, but every singel thread is about "nerfs", nothing about the 500 new things. What's happened to the gaming community, no one can adapt anymore and play for fun O_o

Change makes people scared. Always has, always will.

Most people I know, as of a month or so ago, were looking forward to two things in particular: Crystal Tower with 23 friends and FC Housing.

Most people I know, as of last night, are not able to do either of these two things for the foreseeable future. :p Essentially the cornerstones of this patch were hyped up and them slammed down face first into the concrete ground when they found out about the reality of everything.

They're still looking forward to the other stuff, but SE kept teasing them about how awesome thist stuff was going to be and it's understandable that when you advertise a product people are already buying as "includes FC Housing, 24 man content" that people will be gutted when they find out they can't afford FC housing and they are unable to do that 24 man content with more than seven of their friends (and they can already do that with other dungeons).

Well, there are some things that are awesome (most of the new content) and some things that suck (some of the nerfs, and the cost of housing). Overall it looks pretty awesome, but you have to remember people come to forums to complain.

If anything, 2.1 looks to be getting the game on track and a closer vision to what I think the team original had. Lots of elements, especially the end-game progression and the concept of AK and such all looked to be the result of pressure to get the version out the door and it was just thrown together. 2.1 looks much closer overall coherent game that they'll be able to better build on in the future.

The lack of content is still going to be concerning but hopefully the groundwork in 2.1 will allow them to resolve this quicker.

And I'm actually rather surprised in a good way to see the nerfs. People in general are of course going to be upset with them but in my extensive experience with MMOs, a company that is willing to nerf players for the sake of better balance is a company that cares more about the health of the game than it does about its subscription rate and this will always lead to a much better game in the end.

Exactly this, at the moment there is very little actual in game content to bring an FC together the first blow was crystal tower not being able to make a full FC group. The Housing (i'm on a legacy server) was just another slap in the face...

And my reaction to you, OP, is that you come to the forums.. any forums.. and are surprised that people come on them to complain? Yes we all know it's a patch. The first patch. And there is a ton of content included to it. However these are the forums. Come here for the lulz only. Serious discussion doesn't happen here. Only trolling and hyperbole will do.

Serious discussion never came to, due to the amazing fact that they were killed by

1) white knights
2) doomsayers
3) ppl that brand everyone that does not agreed with him/her/whatsoever are trolls
4) ppl that think forums are only for complains they they come here for the lulz.

Didn't really help built a cool environment for good discussion to grow.

I agree, will add a healthy portion to the game, will be things to do every day now and will take a long time to finish it all. Some don't like comparing to FFXI but I see it as part of the company's potential, FFXI had a lot of same players play year after year.

Personally the patch will be a thrill, still haven't decided what to start doing :o Will be daily things to do and things to do when you're bored (PvP for me probably will be fun when I wanna play but now sure what) etc :)

Personally, I am looking forward to the patch.

However, a large portion of the forums (the minority) are wondering what 3 color cupcakes they should send to SE.

This isn't Mass Effect.

9 weeks just to get all the weapons from the primals. Months for the CT gear sets. There is still coil to farm for mains and alts. Pvp.. More quests, more story, more more more.... What about this do people not like?

And on top of all that they are making a bunch of QoL changes.

Yeah I think 99% if not 100% of the players also are looking forward to it. Just amazed how people on create threads to complain, think SE do a great job and thanks them alot for this huge patch.
Gonna be fun to try it all out!

Very true. Although people were pissed about the ME3 endings, ultimately they were stuck because they already paid for their game and that was that.

With FFXIV however, SE relies on the ongoing subscription income and won't be able to ignore the angry "minority" for too long. Even with Mass Effect they eventually found a (lame) compromise... wouldn't be surprised if SE has to (at the very least) address the issue soon.

All I see that is good coming out of 2.1 Patch is Hildibrand. Everything else is...

most people don't understand that it is much easier to bring the outlying things into central than shift everything in the game up to a new par.

for instance they felt warrior was too far below average and bard and apparently summoner(??) were too far above so they made adjustments to bring everything back into the middle ground.

if they instead buffed everything to match the top performing jobs you would have to re-balance every job instead of just a few and then also have to re-balance all the in game content that was meant to work with the classes that were considered standard and under-performing because every class is now over-tuned for all existing content. The work necessary to balance without including nerfs is almost like rebuilding the entire game

I know nerfs feel horrible but you need to realize you were enjoying being better than everyone else for a long time and these are just meant to bring characters back in line.

ya know the irony in the Crystal Tower not being able to be done with 23 friends is that....its not even Crystal Tower!!!! Its some small 4 winged Ancients place before Crystal Tower. fooled us again didnt they, we get all hyped up about Crystal Tower, YAYYYYYYYY CRYSTAL TOWER!!!!! BAM!!! its not even crystal tower to begin with

How can we happily play new contents when our jobs got nerfed?

This walking one is looking forward to helping dancing ones with their troubles! Helpful one loves dancing ones. ^__^ This one wonders whether dancing ones will recognize helpful one after this one gets a new haircut though!
(I'm sure there are a lot of other people looking forward to all those nice features, lurking about or simply enjoying themselves in-game.)

Well..there are several reasons for the complaining on here. Most people who like something or are satisfied with it usually keep it to themselves. However..when unhappy with something, people will be more vocal and complain..especially here. Ever since the dev team told us they want us to voice our opinions on stuff we like or don't like...people have done it here. It is the one place to try to be heard.

It doesnt matter, you could say houses cost 100 gil and everybody gets free allagan weapons and youd still have people complaining. Play the game or don't. Easy as that folks!

Look, man. You're never going to find a ton of positivity on these forums. Trust me. I used to come here after the Live Letters during Beta, hyped to no end, only to find a million threads complaining about everything that was shown off. They complained about the Veteran Rewards, the Unicorn Mount, the fact that Phase 4 was only going to be a week and level-capped...everything, really.

If you're excited, great. So am I, so are a lot of people. Most of us, though? We're avoiding these forums for a reason.

I have a question: the prices we see are just for the PLOT of land right? The house itself will cost extra or do crafters build the house!
