Brd changes on 2.1

Ok here is what i can see that been nerfed on brd/ cross class ability

Brd:
Rain of Death: Instead of reduce enemies dmg by 10%, it been changed to reduce enemies evasion by 10%. (massive nerf, this skill is pretty much useless now, brd can now save that 200TP on other skills)

Archer:
Shadowbind: The recast timer had been changed from 12sec to 40sec (massive nerf, but never really use this skill in the first place)
Hawk's Eye: The acc been changed from increased 10% to 100%. (Useless buff, never really have any acc problem in the first place, conclusion; nothing changed)

X-class Skill:
Internal Release (pug): Crit % been changed from 20% to 10%. (nerf)
Blood for Blood (lnc): Dmg % been changed from 20% to 10% (nerf)

The cross class nerfing I think we all saw coming, since they said our DPS was a little high and were going to adjust the cross classing. But the other two nerfs? It's obvious to me those nerfs were made for the sake of PvP, which I'm not sure I like. Rain of Death would have been far too OP in PvP, as would being able to Shadowbind melee DPS constantly.

yea i can see why they Nerfed it but now its pritty much useless. only reason we would need tp song is because we were using rain of death ect. and for mages from what iv seen you have to suck at being a mage not to be able to keep your mana up.. only thing thats even slightly usefull is the ele resists down and iv almost never used it unless its a big fight. you cant stack songs and they kill the dps as is. i hate to qq about it but i was dissapointed with bard when i realized only thing it was good for really was dps. then noticed rain of deaths effect and was like well that kinda makes up for only having 5 crappy skills. but when a whm can do more dps then a bard i dont think it can get any more unbalanced.. if they are gona take away are most usefull skill they shoulda atleast given us some more songs... hell at this point id be happy to have a misc skill that you just play for the hell of it. they nerfed bards enough as is this is just bs..

It breaks on damage and doesn't it already suffer diminishing returns?
How is that any more OP than sleep with triple the duration, no cooldown, and can even be used as an AoE?
Yet I don't see any Sleep nerfs in the patch notes...

The changes arent really that much of a deal breaker for me. I mean I never really used RoD unless it was proc'd by Wide Volley.

And as for the two cross class skills. Sorta saw it coming but eh, to me 10% isnt that much. BRDs already have a lot of crit from their equipment an stuff. Least i can still do Raging Strikes + Blood for Blood for a 30% dmg. better than not having blood for blood. I thought i was already doing pretty good DPS b4 i got blood for blood. With it being at 20%, my Hate bar sky rockets to quickly with the amount of burst DPS i was doing LOL.

i'll take a Dmg reduction on Cross class skills over losing them completely which i though was gonna happen.

RoD has been nerfed so it's now smarter to have a WAR as MT or OT for the 10% damage reductions. Also takes away the need for a BRD for speed runs therefore giving melée DPS a chance.

Hmm as you would read through the entire adjustments you would have read that RoD will costs only 180 TP with 2.1 content. I personally think or I hope that SE will change it again so the effect becomes a bit more useful not as like the useless -10 % evasion debuff. For example +10% more critical damage for every monster who was hit by RoD ... But it's just an example for a good debuff. Because i don't see any good sides about the less evade rate of a monster hit by RoD. Another fact is that there's no gear or much information about the stat "evasion" anyway except in the skill "Featherfoot", where you get some % more evasion in a duration of 15 seconds. Thumbs up for originality SE ...

I'll be happy as long as I can still shoot and move and keep invigorate. I die from lag enough as is to even register as a decent DPS, and these changes haven't really effected how I normally play.

yea lets nerf Bfb and Internal release but give +10% more crit damage for every mob hit....ok lol

I think RoD was changed for PvP.

Players evasion may be higher than mob evasion. But I may be wrong on this.

Did not Yoshi say that PvP should have no impact on PvE?

SRs will be limited after 2.1 - Coil / Crystal Tower will almost put you at cap (200 coil and 200 Crystal Tower). Extreme Primal's will put you over the 450.

So you never used RoD, that's what made the diference for good Bards and bad Bards, don't worry thanks to the nerf no one will notice it anymore.
Next thing i'll read is we get ballad taken away and people post they din't use it so np.

ROD was awesome in Coil and SR but oh well...

being the DD that does the least dmg while wearing a pink shirt is was i expected when i rolled an Archer >.>

Well anyway i am gonna miss the 12 sec recast on Shadow bind. I always used it to bind nr 2, and 3 marked mobs in dungeon`s.
And especially when 2.1 releases (PVP) it would have been beast to be able to bind so your real dd skills can recharge, while runnning circles around a non-ranged enemy.

Gotta say i hoped they added some movement slowing stats on a skill for pvp/pve.
Probably did`nt happen because we would be to op again.

Looks to be quite a nice replacement for the Artemis and I'll even dare to say the stats negate the 1 WD increase on the Allagan. I'm definitely going for this before anything else when servers come back up.

wow sweet do you have any info about how, where and where the bow can be farmed?

The only 90 weapon being added comes from the Extreme primal.
So, you get one guess.

Don't forget you get this by beating all the extreme primals, so it's probably not a drop. Making it easier to get.

aah oke well im not close to beating extreme primals. Just got my Garuda spine i70 and first piece of darklight gear.

I see the PvE justifications for the nerf to the current RoD, it was simply too good of a debuff and further added to the stacking of the bard class. (for example being able to have one bard on each of the turn 1 bosses etc) Shadowbind I can say that is blatantly a pvp change but was relatively "tame" in pve anyways cuz of the diminishing returns. The cross-class nerfs imo, and based a bit off what i gathered from other comments, is that the "full stacking" (dex pot and the whole chabang together) lead to some ridiculously good synergy with barrage, dots, flaming arrow etc. (place were i can say i see this in "action" the most is prolly things like burning down the dreadnaughts in turn 4) which did lead to some "carry". Very mild carry but carry nonetheless, just like its gonna be ultimately a very minor nerf in these same situations.

Some of the new gear does seem to be light on accuracy so maybe RoD is the way it is as a "buffer" for the new gear, and it will lead to situations were you may want to have a full acc set and a heavy damage set. I will admit that as it stand now and as you read it on the patch notes it does leave a "WTF IS THIS!" sensation upon you though, specially since we are coming from a place were we "require" accuracy caps being hit for end game.

Guess i should also note that the warrior getting the 10% debuff obviously played a role in this :P I agree with the philosophy of trying to make all classes "useful" in an 8 man setup, such as the LB nerfs and this change, much the same way i am liking the pvp setup being a 4 man party setup. I will agree that we have to wait and see the changes in action though, as what the development "expects" and what the community ultimately does are rarely the same thing.

I actually used Shadow Bind a lot when helping my lower-level FC mates with dungeons.

I'm more pissed about this than ring of death.

Let's be clear. We were told that a bard skill will be moved to another class cause bards bring too much.
I'm not talking about if you agree with the above premise.

Here we have RoD, a BARD skill.
The effect is changed to something notably less valuable.

As many others have pointed out. The RoD effect is moved to Warrior.
Calling it a nerf is half right. It is a nerf to the skill but the impression is simply that it is an isolated reduction.
It is a movement of utility from one class to another. Please discuss it as such.

It's a nerf to bard in an isolated sense.
But now your raid can potentially keep up that buff and you will lose no damage/TP (if you have a warrior).
It nerf to 'reasons to bring a bard' but a boost to your raid in general and to your personal dps(potentially).

Please treat this issue in a more nuanced manner than a normal nerf.

It is unfortunate that Storm's path is single target, while RoD is AoE.
I guess this is balanced by the fact that Storm's path is part of a combo and therefore you don't need to go out of your way and lose massive TP to apply.

Don't really see any upgrade because you will definitly lose your accuracy cap for coil with this bow. Artemis Bow gives +37 accuracy so consider again if this bow really is better :confused:

ummmm, RoD was a nice benefit for lower geared tanks/whm in SR, but mana song and foe is the reason we are still gonna be taken... Bring a blm and flare away... (Blizz 3 > Fire 3 > Flare repeat (mana song gives em back enough for blizz)

I don't see how Hawk's Eye is a useless buff.

Hawk's Eye - The effect has been changed to increase DEX by 15% and guarantee that all attacks land.

However it's not part of the hate combo.
So while you don't have to "throw away" TP to use it, you DO have to throw away enmity.
And since it's part of a combo, it's no longer feasible to use it in certain situations like Twintania's 2h where it was VERY useful before.

They definitely had to remove that effect from Bard since they gave it to War, but what makes it a nerf to Bard is what they replaced it with.
The evasion down is 100% useless which means we lost a big portion of our support toolbox on top of a damage nerf even though we were already 20% behind at endgame.

You don't have to stick with one weapon for everything though.
It will be difficult to hit the accuracy cap with this bow for Turn5, but 99% of the game isn't Turn5.
You could use this bow any time the cap is lower and increase your dmg by quite a large amount.

Another interesting change I noticed is the Bow of Crags is better than Artemis bow. Since I avoided +1'ing the Artemis bow I might just swap to Crags till I can get the Extreme Primal bow. Plus the earth res will be nice vs ex Titan.

These patch notes at least on the English side don't seem to be "right" all the way. JP patch notes showing Drg getting a potency increase to Full Thrust as well that's not included on the patch notes. Some things are missing and some could be translation issues.

Even ignoring the rest of the new gear we're getting that probably has accuracy on it, how many people are currently wearing the +34 Accuracy Allagan pants?

Shadowbind didn't need a nerf for pvp. It has diminishing returns and doesn't silence casters.
The new PvP ability Purify(all classes, negative effect purge, likely the first skill taken by anyone who will pvp.), and Fetter Ward (meh not a huge deal)

I just started the game, and have very limited experience here, but these changes don't add up to me.
I could be wrong, but it sounds like bards will have a heck of a time keeping range in PvP.
I understand Instant cast everything isn't hard to play, but I'll be interested to see how this pans out.

they probably did it so there is less overlap for shared class abilities for crystal tower. also the difference in evasion compared to damage reduction is miniscule. the damage is the same and missing less will more than likely increase dps in the long run.

I'll echo those that said before the biggest issue with the changes was the loss of RoD. To me it was the single real support we had that always had some benefit. When you need mana song you need it and you pay the extra reduction in damage...
Speaking of which SE could remove the penalty to damage on ballad and paeon now =p

As for other dps classes not having support...

BLM = Sleep / Bind / Heavy
Drg = Pierce debuff / Slow
SMN = Raise / Virus
Monk = Debuff

But hey they are all pure DPS right with no support at all. As the only DPS / Support class I would be happy to take those skills off their hands =)

I just want a song that I actually want to play... How about a haste song, a defensive stat song, a str/dex song, an int/piety song. There are lots of options that would actually make a bard more of a bard than a mana battery every once and a while with our current line up.

As for the RoD issue... They could have just as easily changed the effects duration to perhaps 10-15 second instead of just removing it all together at this point. Even as a FREE proc, it is not worth the CD to use on any mob that is if any difficulty. RoD is now an entirely useless ability outside of trash mobs or random AoE farming. BRD's almost feel like the WoW Paladin of old, nothing but a buff bot. I feel almost like I should stack mana and stand at the mobs ball sack and sing at this point.
