Goobue mount

Thought that was our legacy award that couldn't be received after 1.0.

There were several months of warnings how it would never come back out when it ended.

Ours has a carpet on its head so that makes it very different and distinguishable.

yea agreed this actually upset me too. Whats next Yoshi? Gonna give people Dalamud Horns too?
Or how about reduced sub fees for everyone?

Guess they changed their mind about it may have been the complains people had about how they can't get a goobue.

Different goobbue, and had nothing to do with legacy.
Plenty of people without legacy have the minstrel's mount gift.

This new one instead of the sprouts and rug on top, just has a olive branch wreath crown.

If you had the 1.0 goobbue mount, you will have 2 after earning this one.

Your Goobbue has a carpet on it, this Goobbue has flowers.

Would you like to complain that everyone gets to ride chocobos and that makes your legacy chocobo less of a unique and special flower?

The point: They said it won't be obtainable again.

I never see anyone riding on it anyway..

Speaking as a 1.0 player with the existing goobbue mount, I cannot even begin to fathom why people are upset about the laurel goobbue. Ours is still unique; they aren't giving it away to other people. SE promised that the 1.0 specific minstrel goobbue mount would never be given out to new players and as far as I'm concerned they're well within their right to add other types of goob mounts to the game. Hell, I welcome it. It just means I have more variety when choosing which mount I use.

That's a false statement. During Phase 3 of Closed Beta ALL players were given the option to transfer their 1.0 characters to a more desired realm. So Legacy characters can be on normal type servers.

Flowers or carpet, it still is a Goobbue mount which has a special meaning to me (even though I didn't participate in a Goobbue wall myself)

Yep. I stalked the old Lodestone for a minute and found at least 3 posts mentioning that you should hurry getting a Goobbue because it won't be obtainable again. "Again" includes 2.0 for me.

No, you're missing the point. The legacy Goobbue mount is unique. It has a carpet on it. If you ride by someone they're going to think "oh, that's the special Goobbue with a carpet on it. Isn't that guy cool, I wish I was around to get one of those."

This Goobbue has a ring of flowers. No one is going to look at it with more than a cursory glance and confuse it with the legacy Goobbue.

If SE came out and released the same exact Goobbue, completely indistinguishable from the legacy Goobbue, people would have a reason to get ticked off. They did not.

Legacy characters are LOCKED into Legacy servers, we have never been able to transfer to new servers.
Trust me I was there too.. We didn't even have our Legacy servers in phase 3

Exactly. I don't care if it has a flower and no carpet, it's still a Goobbue mount.

Its not the same mount.
If they give new era people /legacymark then by all means complain.
If you look at SE's development history equipment wise you will see its very common for them to reskin/add (unmask) small details to equipment.
If you think they were just going to develop a Goobbue mount for people who play in a few month time period and really not reuse the model at all... well now you know what to expect in the future.

They should make a quest reward that gives a legacy chocobo with greyish tail feathers instead of black. After all, it was a special mount that you only had one chance to get, but this one will be a super tiny bit different, so it's ok right? No legacy players would be upset or anything?

They didn't say we're never getting a Goobbue mount again. They said we're not getting that specific Goobbue mount from 1.0 again.

Achievements from 1.0 the new players can't get, White Ravens from 1.0, Dalamud horn from 1.0, lower subscription fee from 1.0, a Legacy Chocobo, a unique Goobbue and a Legacy tattoo. I don't think I'm missing anything, am I?

As special as it may be to you, I can't get away from feeling like you're kinda being selfish here and I don't mean this in an insulting way (if that's possible >.>) It's just what I underlined in your post that makes me feel such a vibe from it....

You're right. A carpet on my Goobbues head is SO unique. It really helps tell it apart from one with flowers on its head..

You obviously are not getting where I'm coming from, IDC if ppl get this mount by all means have a freakin blast with it. My point was this was something we from 1.0 were told was a gift for playing. All I'm getting at is SE needs to stop saying stuff like "oh this is unique just for you blah blah blah" When obviously it wasn't, the goobbue mount (which is clear to me now) was just a ploy to try to squeeze a little more money out of players during 1.0...

I was disappointed to see this as well. They're way too similar in appearance, and honestly, I think the new one looks better than our legacy Goobbue. The weeds/growth on top of the legacy Goobbue look terrible and is the reason why I hardly ever use it.

If they're going to give out Goobbues they might as well give out everything. There are some things that even as a legacy player, I missed out on. Why shouldn't I be able to get those if non-legacy players can get a Goobbue?

I am not insulted, no worries.
I just feel a bit poked harder than necessary (don't want to say slapped) with an addition of that slightly adjusted Goobbue. People back then used them to defend our cities and I won't be able to forget this that easily.
Plus, if I am not mistaken then story-wise it was only the Wandering Minstrel who was able to / knew how to tame Goobbue so you could ride them. (Yet?!) He isn't in 2.0 so how will they put this? Letting the Sylphs being able to do this in the first place as if the Minstrel learned from them? :/ (I am assuming that you get the new Goobbue from the Sylph daily quests.)

We played when the game was in the gutter and the "big" servers maybe had a couple thousand max players, we kept the game alive with our subs and was promised that we would be rewarded in 2.0 with these things. Legacy Tattoo, Legacy Chocobo, and Goobbue Mount. We can argue all day that it's not the same Goobbue mount but it's still a Goobbue mount.

I think you're just stubborn. Take that any way you want. Also, good morning Columbo! Took a while to realise SE isn't making these games out of the kindness of their hearts but cause it makes them good money. Again, we were never promised a Goobbue mount won't be obtainable again.

I see what you mean but, I'm afraid that lore gets thrown out the window (or at least bent to the extremes) in front of money and money is what the new Goobbue mount is supposed to generate, so to speak. Their "clever" solution here was to give this Goobbue flowers on the head instead of a carpet, in order to keep the 1.0 players distinct (in a considerably smaller way) from the ones with the new Goobbue, who will now feel a bit more satisfied for being able to ride this monster, albeit a lil different, like the 1.0 players can.

I called this back at the end of 1.0 lol I didn't say "with a crown" or anything I just said "watch, they'll re-release a gobbue that looks the same just without a carpet". As far as I'm concerned, the legacy mount hasn't been devalued and SE went by their word. That exact mount won't be available again.

And @Coris (I think it was you?) if your mount is special to you, will this suddenly make all your 1.0 time and experiences vanish from your memory? You will still know that it's YOUR 1.0 reward. And this next thing is not meant offensively, but does it only matter that you can flaunt it in front of other players? You still have your mount they don't and you should still know that and feel proud of it.

I'd like to address this by bolding a bit. You know in the 26 months that 1.0 was active, only 9 months were paid right? The final 9 months. AFTER the game was already announced to be shut down and remade. Your subs and mine from 1.0 didn't keep anything going. Nothing changed. And even then I believe it was 6? maybe 5? of those months were the Legacy campaign. Jan-jun iirc

I understand what all of you are saying about being legacy and special and all, but think of it this way...

It makes me sad and disappointed, because they said otherwise. Other people might think that this is trivial (I can understand that) and others might say it was naive to believe it. At the moment I can even agree with it.

I'd never stop being proud of having my Goobbue, but being proud of it doesn't include showing it off (can only speak for myself here, plus I have to admit that I only did it ONCE to re-create a wall and then never again!)

Oh I don't think it's sad and trivial at all. I understand it. I'm not sure if I was trying to lessen the blow SE dealt to you or just help remind you of how it still is what it is. It just seemed like something to ponder at the time. As I said in my previous post, it wasn't meant to insult or offend (as you didn't seem to be so you understood).

Yes, I would.

It's not the only thing I missed out on either. I didn't think they'd be giving out anything for playing during the "end of the world" phase of the game so I went on to do other things while waiting for ARR to come out. I missed out on the goodies and achievements people got from that part of the game as well. It bothers me quite a bit unfortunately because I'm a completionist at heart but I'll never truly be able to 100% the game at this point no matter what I do or how hard I work at it.

I'm just gonna ride both at the same time and call it my Twobbue.

Also maybe they'll eventually add a 3rd goobbue mount:

I don't see how we can change it anyways, but I think that at least telling them how some of us feel about it was needed.

By the way, the first time they got me with the mount was when I rode it the first time in 2.0: Different way of walking (not sure about the music right now)
