West Coast Significantly Effected By Server Distance

I live in San Francisco and have a large FC with a lot of West Coast players. I recently decided to try WTFast Tunneling Software after seeing it listed here on the forums as a way to improve gameplay in ARR.
The difference has been Huge!! I used to have to sprint to miss plumes in Titan, and certain attacks like Piercing Laser on ADS, and Goobue in WP were almost impossible to dodge, now I can casually walk out of them Lol. After doing a free Trial I'M SOLD.
My rotations are actually so tight that I'm now interrupting my own spell casting because I'm used to moving before it finishes, it's just crazy! No lag spikes either! According to their site I'm now seeing a 35% increase in performance and it feels like it.

My BF who also lives in SF also has tried it and is shocked by how much better the gameplay is and how much tighter his rotations are.

Now for the bad news. I've posted what a huge difference the tunneling software has made on my FC site, since so many people have left the game now disappointed because of the horrible latency on Titan (some literally being hit while across the area)

Unfortunately they won't pay the $5 a month to try it and come back as they feel the game shouldn't need a service that like to work, and I can see where they're coming from.

I just think that for this game to continue to thrive SE should really think about adding servers West Coast, European, and Pacific Islanders (I can only imagine how horrible it is for them considering my improvements)
JP is a very small area (about the size of California) So I'm sure this isn't an issue over there.
But for the rest of us the Hops our connections take significantly affect ARR gameplay.

This is how it's been for east coast players for years man with all the servers on the west coast.

Im glad that someone in this forum finally tried this.

Same area...I don't experience anywhere near "severe" lag issues or need the use of a VPN and I use AT&T lol.

Needing a 3rd party software and PAYING for it in order to play ff14 is sometihng no one should be doing.Everyone should just quit the game and therfore force SE to place servers where they should be or find a new job!It's retarded on how much gamers needs to adapt and what the billion dollars companys do?Laugh at you and milk even more money more easy.PPL WAKE UP!

I use Comcast It's the only Cable option for us... My parents have AT&T and when I've checked it's been much slower.

My actual Internet is pretty darn fast 55 MBS/15 MBS, but the infrastructure on the way to Montreal must be deplorable. I just can't believe a tunneling service has made this big of a difference.

Oceanic player here, and yeah tunnels are damn near mandatory for most games with have terrible server placement and routes to said servers.

I live in malaysia. Ive been dealing with this crap since the beginning of online gaming. Its not new buddy. When i play a game were the datacenter is far away from where i live i expect some degree of latency.

I love how Americans are only just having to deal with this while the rest of the world have had issues like this since internet gaming started! Producers would never spend the money to place a server in every country, it's just one of them things that we have to deal with and have been for so many years, and I think it's time America joined us.

I live in SF also, I have no issues at all with dodging anything. I have my PC Ethernet'd to my router. . At the beginning of ARR I had problems because I was using WiFi and own a crappy network card but after I switched to Ethernet, boom, golden. Lasers and Plumes can't even touch me. :l

About the same, had a very old PC and wireless couldn't dodge anything and were always hit after I left the hot zone - New PC build, directly wired...boom, issues melted away and the game was suddenly playable again.

I have an i7 Hexa core, 680 GTX OC with an SSD

That's what my improvement is. I just finished my 9th Relic. My BF in SF reluctantly tried this tunneling service and is blown away as well at how much easier it is to dodge now. There were certain times where I could not dodge piercing laser, I would be outside the AoE and my screen shows me getting hit. Last-night in the coil I could comfortably play coil without having to already be moving to not get hit.

What provider do you guys in SF have?
I already had comcast come boost my signal and it's a steady 55mbs download/12-15 upload, there's nothing else I can do my side to make it faster but use the tunneling service.

Because it's rare for the majority of Americans to play a game outside his or her own country as they usually get their own localized versions (eg:Aion/L2/Tera/Vindictus/Maple etc). This latency lag is sudden news to a lot of new internet users but in fact it has been around since the internet was first invented.

I played Tera EU with 400ms and I watched the forums where they were complaining that if they played on the NA servers, they would get 100ms and it would be the end of the world for them.

There are many EU/AUS players already know since the start of online gaming that we have a high ping. We already used to it we dont complain about it >_>.

Wrong choice of words perhaps, rather than a complaint it was more of a counter argument. The community was comparing and deciding if they should move to NA and there were quite a few that said ping would make the game unplayable with 100+ms and would be better to stick to EU even thou NA has better features.

Back on topic, I was referring mainly to Americans as by looking at some of the threads here on ARR's forums, it looks like quite a number of people have never had latency issues and are extremely shocked about it. It is also possible that to some, this is their first MMO.

It's more that most of the difficulty of ARR is dodging quickly. In FFXI you could go WC and come back and nobody would know lol...

Welcome to the life of east coasters on the large majority of online games without dedicated east coast servers (the biggest offender atm being League of Legends, in a genre where ping is a huge deal).

Yea, but they were talking about TERA the "first true action MMO", as they call themselves.
Dodging is much more intense there than here.

I have comcast, but I also don't live in the center of SF (Castro/Mission/Noe), Bayview area. Soooo, Yeah, I don't know.
