What the changes to War, Drg and Mnk really mean...

There will be a bunch of war, drg and mnks that are even worse than they currently are. The majority that play these three jobs are really bad and they are making them more complicated. On top of that by buffing them they are labeling them OP but bads who are going to flock to the new OP jobs...

You are about to see so many bad war/drg/mnk its going to make you sick.

Maybe on your server... almost all the ones I have partied with here are just as good as any other job. Maybe stop DFing everything :P

We really need a down-vote on these forums.

So what ARE the actual CONFRIMED changes?

Not 100% sure, but melee DPS gets 10% dmg increase I think.

Aside from the 10% thing, that I don't think we really know what form that will take, Dragoons are gonna get the animation time on their jumps cut in half for a much faster execution. The WAR changes have been outlined in great detail in that WAR thread in the tanking subforum.

I don't really see too many bad Monks or Warriors, but there's bad Dragoons out the wazoo though.

Monks not even that hard, it can only be difficult keeping your lightening stacks up during a mobile fight. (Titan)

There are a lot of bad people in ALL jobs.

I've seen terribad SCH, WHM and SMN with relics and i90 gear, +1 PLD who don't know what Flash is, Relic BLM who demand Mage's Ballad up for them at all times, BRD who can't dodge anything and sing songs that aren't needed (Foe's with no BLM/SMN, MB when everyone's at full MP...) or refuse to sing at all. Also, I see a lot of these players getting passes either because they're "needed" (heals, PLD) or are ranged DPS (BRD especially).

For WAR, DRG and MNK, its a lot easier to see fault; DRG and MNK are melee, and bad ones end up dead all the time. WAR takes more damage naturally than PLD, and some healers just have no idea how to heal them or think they should be taking less damage than they do.

Not everyone enjoy pressing 2 buttons on bard which is the most easy job to play, even a rock can play it. So its actually good to have this variation since there is a stupid number of bards compared to other jobs.
It brings other jobs back.

As much as I can see the use in this, I've been leveling my DRG the past few weeks and I absolutely adore their animations. It'll be sad to see them fly by in the blink of an eye. :/

I've seen my fair share of inexperienced players... but a lot can just be told a tip or two. Spread the knowledge!

If I notice an error, or something someone can improve, I'd tell them immediately. Most take it pretty well, too! And for those that do not, well...

They never said they are going to directly buff DRG or MNK. They are going to change some animation timing, how some of the abilities work and change some cross class skill availability would should equate to a 10% increase. So in real world application this will increase the overall damage but will not actually be 10%. And as of right now in their testing MNK and DRG drop off in fights with a lot of movement so these changes were to help counter that. These are quality of life adjustment. The only thing I saw in proposed changes to damage is that monks will do more damage from behind.

Changes instead of drg and mnk pulling off 300-350 dps end game they will be doing 400s.
There are already so many bad drgs on my server I have only met one really good one. Just get a bunch of people to cry and bitch on forums about your class being too weak and youll get a boost and get another class un-fairly nerfed. Bad warriors are easier to spot than bad plds though.

They said they are increasing strength potency by 10% meaning they are buffing any class who mains the stat strength.

This is highly debateable, just last week played drg for the first time since 1.0 and went omg this class is easy how does any1 fail hard at it. Honestly bard would make top 3 easiest to play, with paladin being #1 easiest, why because it is stupid simple, 1 real enmity combo and all you really do is hit cooldowns when you see xyz skill coming or you when bosses start to get a stack count above 4. Also making the top 3 easiest to play would be blm, not sure how any1 can mess up this "rushed" class but I have seen it.

Last letter said the TTT combo was getting buffed, and then there are other adjustments as well giving that 10% DPS buff as well.

I will make a nice change from awful Bards that dont even know what Paeon does.

On the topic of classes being OP, since no1 has yet to really notice because of a lack of thm with an allagan weapon atm, just saying a know a group that runs a thm all i90 in coil and melts spinner rooks with 2400-2700 fire 3s with for playing. If players really wanted to be OP that is the class they would want to truly play.

but 10% is nothing only good as a overtime increase. say you hit for 300 dmg thats only 30 more damage a hit. i can go nuts on blm doing way more damage and when you doing crits for over 1500 normal melee wont keep up.

The buff on MNKs will make them even more OP than they are already.

But we already outdamage BLM easily.
Just because they pull bigger numbers on single skills doesn't mean they do more overall damage than a melee, their spells are all they have we have AA too which add up.
10% is far from nothing, it adds up and becomes huge in long fights where it matters.

If more people do decide to make one of these jobs their main, just because someone is at an earlier point in the learning curve for a job, it doesn't necessarily make them bad. I have no doubt there's still a few things I could pick up for Monk, and there will be new things to learn after the update too. But perhaps you are the perfect Monk who knew the job the second you hit 50 and never had to spend any time learning and refining your technique?

I dont see how the patch is going to make things worse. Lets look at each class:
The problem with bad WARs is that they are taking too much damage, something that for the most part is outside of player skill and just the passive trait of the class. The patch is changing that.
The problem with bad MNKs is that they dont deal good damage. The buff to rears and greased lightning will definitely help.
The problem with bad DRGs is that they die all the time. The shortening of jump animations is definitely making it easier to dodge AOEs and will help making the class less risky to play.

So i dont see how the patch will make things worse, unless you are suggesting that more inexperienced and FOTM players are going to pick those classes up.

monks and blackmages probably tie for dps, similarly geared of course. Summoners are at the top of the DPS chart by far

Honestly, Dragoons just seem bad to a lot of people due to their nature. They have the worse magic defense in the game and a lot of AOEs are magic based. So, they get one shot quite a bit if they're not quick enough. Also, currently, their job signature moves (jumps) freeze them in place for a few seconds, leaving them open to AOEs that once again, one shot them due to poor magic defense. With my Dragoon, I don't dare use jumps at all during fights like Titan. One misuse and you're toast. Hopefully, 2.1 will make that better.

Also, all classes have bads... I was tanking Ifrit HM yesterday with my Warrior and was excited to see an actual paladin (it seems like it's always two Warriors for me lately) in the group. So, as I'm typing "I'll MT and you take care of the stuns, ok?", he runs in and attacks the boss. We end up wiping due to Eruptions. So, after, I again explain to him that he is in better position to stun with the short CD, and this time I run in and attack the boss. Well, he doesn't stun... ever. I end up having to go into stun duty while main tanking. Luckily, in the final phase (were eruption is hard to dodge), the eruptions come after two plumes, so I was able to catch most of them with my 30 second stun. We won, but it was definitely made much harder by the Paladin not knowing his role. He also didn't speak one single time the entire time.

Speak for yourself TC, I've only come across one bad Warrior, and since I was also leveling Warrior at that point, I gave him some tips and he really appreciated it (though he only improved slightly, it was still noticeable).

Tough, I have seen too many bad Dragoons, and it seems a lot of monks don't realize the whole position thing, but even then they at least know enough to stay on the flank.

I experience bad players across all jobs regardless of how easy or hard ppl think they are. This game is pretty straightforward and has a very simple learning curve compared to other games. Even with that, you have players that still don't execute rotations or skills properly and/or adjust accordingly to the content they are playing.

@OP Have you partied with all 14 people who currently play warrior? Otherwise your statement is invalid.

I wonder sometimes... are players really bad or.... they might not be players at all.

Out of all the DPS, BRD is definitely the easier mode of them all. You don't have to deal with a lot of close ranged AoE's, you don't have to deal with combos, your DoT's can be applied by simply using them. Hardest part is knowing when to properly use your cooldowns.

I can't say much on MNK since I have barely played it, but DRG is definitely one of the harder jobs to manage that does have one of the bigger learning curves. You always have to have your DoT's on the boss to apply effective damage, which can be very hard to do depending on the boss. DoT's to manage are Chaos Thrust/Disembowl(which is applied through a positioning combo), Heavy Thrust(which has to be applied every 20 seconds on the enemy's flank), and Phlebotimize. Along with that, we have to keep all this stuff up along with knowing when to use your buffs properly like saving Life Surge(along with using Blood for Blood) and getting a good Full Thrust combo off. Notice, this is all while the boss is doing his mechanics and I have to watch out for much more than a ranged DPS has to, which a lot of times can mess up the flow. It is easy for ranged DPS to get back into the flow of things while MNK/DRG have to deal with the hardships.

I am not discrediting how other DPS jobs are designed, but it kind of irks me when I see a BRD in these forums come and say loldrg when they are playing a job that takes little to no effort to be an effective DPS while jobs like DRG/MNK have to do a lot of combos and positioning while dodging most AoE's is definitely a bigger learning curve.
