Who is leveling WAR before 2.1 so the aren't left in the dust?
I know I won't be one of those PLD suffering by our new tank overlords.
Why can't people play the classes they enjoy rather than what's the best?
My job is arguably the least used, but it doesn't gate me from content. I enjoy it, and I like excelling at it. There will be a role for both PLD/WAR.
PLD still is the superior tank! Look I can make baseless accusations too!
Add Ninja for some shadow tanking *wink**wink*
WAR isn't going to be superior, Mr. FoTM OP.
Still behind on eHP, still no real invulnerability (Holmgang is going to be a nightmare for healers), still going to have less defense and mitigation
PLD are still going to be better MTs, but now they have competition.
Great, an influx of more wanna be tanks to flood the role with.
That's my initial reaction.
Second is, I hope you guys don't fate grind because WAR isn't as cookie cutter as PLD.
OP is trolling stop posting and let this fall in to the void of pointless topic's.
So... WAR will be much better at tanking than PLD will in 2.1? I somehow fail to see this happening, rather, what I believe is WAR and PLD will be just as good as each other so both jobs won't be neglected to be brought into content or runs or anything.
Won't really know until the patch is out, but I doubt they'd make it so unbalanced that WAR makes PLD obsolete or something.
But, it's fine if you want to switch jobs. I've tried most of the classes in the game and they're all fun to me. I agree with Zezlar, play whichever job you enjoy most, there will always be a role for all the jobs.
Hah, WAR coming here because they don't want more competition. You can't fool us guys!
We're joining the superior tank with superior HP, similar mitigation capabilities and superior AoE aggro and damage skills.
As much as I want it to be the new bad ass go-to tank. We simply don't know what it's going to be yet. The patch list we got several weeks ago could already be out of date.
Quiet peons. Heal before your new Overlord.
Kneel before your new king.
I've been MRD/WAR from the start of 2.0 Havent had issues yet. Didnt like the style of the GLA/PLD. Its all about learning how to play your class.
In an absolute sense, no, we will not know until many months after 2.1 drops. However, theorycraft suggests that the two will be balanced.
People are confusing the fact that WAR is now probably on par with PLD with "Oh, now I gotta change PLD". The point of this buff is so that you dont have to make your choice depending on which is gonna be more useful, because the idea is that both will be equally useful.
I love the mental midgets who overreact to every change by screaming it is the end of X or some other BS like that.
Yes that;s right people, PLD will be the equivalent of a paperweight in 2.1. /rolleyes
Agreed, already taking my WAR to 50 to replace my soon-to-be-worthless Paladin.
It's ok, most of us Warriors have had to use PLD for 3+ month to gear up our mains so i'm sure you guys will be fine playing another class.
Guess I'll change to PLD cuz WAR is too mainstream.

I don't see many new people becoming a tank because of the changes to Warrior. Most likely the people leveling it will be Paladins who are already maxed. I leveled Warrior first to 50 and love it. I have my Paladin at 40 now and to be honest I like both classes. I think Paladin will still have better damage mitigation, but Warrior will have closed the gap a bit and is a bit more dynamic to play.
Im pretty sure war will once again be the go to tank job...
even though i have cleared all the content on pld ill happly redo it on my war no problem...its my favorite 1.0 job
The lionshare of war buffs were to their dps and not mitigation. War may now do a lot more dps then a pld but a pld will still have better damage mitigation. So its a choice of do you want your tank to do more damage but take more damage or do you want the tank to do less damage and take less.
You'll have to explain how you've come to that conclusion. Here are the proposed changes. The only change which concerns DPS directly is Unchained.
You'll still want one of each, you know, how it should have been.
/shocker
Lol... War buffs will still not > PLD already skilled buffs. Goodluck.
I'm not gonna be switching my main to WAR because PLD is easier and I'm a slacker. :3
I like the TP changes. While I've only have WAR alt up to Lv.40, I've noticed I run out of TP much more often than PLD. (And when I provided that feedback in beta, I got replies like WAR is fine L2P etc orz).
But yes the key change is uncoupling damage reduction from wrath. Reliability is a very important aspect of a tank for progression content, and WAR was in a very disadvantaged position.
I'm thoroughly enjoying my Lv.40 WAR and planning to level WAR up on my main character. Best of both worlds.
makes me glad I capped WAR months back xD
My prediction is when the patch hits, is that us plds will see less partys for a couple months, so get used to sitting in mor dhona more often or used DF, in DF PLDs are prolly going to be OTs which I don't agree with cause WARs are much better at picking up Enmity faster then plds, The warrior's strengh lies in the fact that they have abilities to pick up multiple targets at once an hold them, we technically have 1 aoe ability that holds enmity. The fact is, the war an pld are supposed to compliment each other much like SCH and WHMs compliment each other, The buffs to wars will help them do the job much better.
I believe everyone is missing out on the biggest thing involved with this tank debacle.
It doesn't matter how good they buff WAR if it's being controlled by someone who can't use it to its full potential. A good PLD will always be superior to an average WAR much in the same way a good WAR will always be superior to an average PLD.
You can argue which job has greater potential, but it's only in the proper hands that either job shines.
I'm considering it. At least I can just re-use all of my Allagan.
Going to actually have to learn how to play one though since not sure I can play a Warrior 1 handed like I currently do on my Paladin.
War has a downfall in tanking, if the War runs out of TP (and it does happen alot) you can kiss the healer goodbye (seen it in person), I have a Mrd and as far as Pld they can help keep hate by using flash, unless you lvl Gld (of which I didn't my Wife did) Mrd has no way to keep hate once TP runs out (untill you lvl Gld for War).
