Also missing are FF VXIII and FF Type-0. I guess it's not that suprising but i was kind of hoping for an update on the PS3 game. There may be some suprisies though.

I thought the "point" of E3 was to showcase new and interesting things (ie. upcoming things maybe) to generate media hype and excitement about these new products (as well as inform the gaming world in a large public forum that your new and exciting product exists). This game is none of those things and so why would it be there?

Some of you have a strange view of E3. Expansions, ports, DLC all of these things can be and and often are shown at E3. There is no reason why FF XIV could not be shown, especially the PS3 game which is a new game as nothing has ever been shown of it. I guess it's just not ready to be shown.

This is actually very encouraging, it means that they are taking their franchises very seriously and are putting things back to ensure they meet the standard people expect and I don't just mean FFXIV. Deus Ex was put back so they could spend more time refining and polishing and the talk is that it is shaping up very well.
Will be interesting to see FF Vs. XIII the next time they show it and what if any changes have been made. Obviously the proof will be in the pudding if this is actually the case of why they are putting their games back to ensure the quality is there but it does seem that way to me. -

If SE were to announce anything about FFXIV at E3 it would just be too embarrassing, seriously, for both them and people watching. They would be the laughing stock of the games development community if they did that because:
1. People in general have a bad taste in their mouths when it comes to FFXIV, you'll only see people shaking their heads, leaving the conference room and...
2. E3, for the most part, is for new games, not already existing ones -
