it's okay.
It looks.. alright.
Yes, looks like it's still in development. That's what we get in the mean time to show HP of other groups in CT.
Looks good for me! :)
i have no complaints with it.
it does its job, shows me the HP of the other alliance members.
HP bars could be a little longer horizontally though....
Do you have perhaps a suggestion they could look into? Saying it's ugly doesn't give anyone any sort of direction.
Based on the information we have it's likely the 3 parties going into coil will have little to no direct interaction with each other. The design for the other parties in your alliance is if anything just a visual indicator that you belong (loosely) to a larger group. What I see class icon, and what appears to be a oversized health bar for that individual. And it's only oversized because it's trying to match the size of the class icon.
Some things people might request:
What if they split the bar horizontally showing HP and MP?
Does your party really need to know what the MP is of another party that is managing their own buffs?
What if they split the bar horizontally showing HP, MP, and TP?
Again, this question comes up. Does your party really need to know what the MP is of another party that is managing their own buffs?
We want to see party buffs and debuffs!
Well, in it's current design I personally don't know how they'd show it. The icons for those would be tiny, almost to the point where you'd not be able to make them out. Also, you're healers will be concerned with your own party, as will their healers. Do we need more clutter on the screen?
We want a list similar to what the current party list looks like!
Hmm...seeing how our UI is pretty cluttered (even when scaling down to the smallest current size). Not sure how this would even fit, and yet again. How important is you watching the other parties situation that health bars alone won't tell you? The more and more I think about the more and more I'm convinced that the parties aren't really working together on a individual basis but as a whole level progression.
Yeah... it needs a... you know, a more casual touch.

There we go.
P.S.
Pretty much what errors said... otherwise they may actually just go this route with your 'criticism' LOL!
What the Alliance UI could show is the current status of the whole Party.
(With the HP bars similar to Item Condition & Party Leader icon or Aggro "A" icon - likewise..)
Check out my design ^^ - The way it can evolve in to.. i hope!

Alliance A - Watching Cut-Scene!
Alliance B - In Battle!
For a 3 party Alliance (24 people) - Job icons could be Vertically aligned - more like the Inventory popup with tabs or just "A B C")
Note: Meaning they go for 32 vs 32 (Your Party + 3 party Alliance) in future :p
I'll try to position the Alliance Status UI in the Main UI - Let's see how that turns out :)
Will post sometime today.
I like that, it looks like it will save space on the screen as apposed to the horizontal design :x but also.. are we even going to need to see their HPs? I remember them saying something about the alliances splitting off, they could just put a X or fade out the color on the job symbol if their dead XD
Drives car into repair shop,
"What seems to be the problem?"
"Its not working"
Afaik certain parts/bosses in CT will be done by the 3 parties combined. Also looking beyond CT there will (hopefully) be more 24 man content later on, where the 24 people really fight together. The design off the interface needs to have future content in mind as well, no point redesigning it with every patch depending on the current 24 man content really.
Way to judge something before you even saw it in use a single time. Off of a single picture even. Sad.
They may fight together, but way it set up each party can take care of it self.
I agree. The Alliance UI (and the Alliance system in general) should be built from the ground up looking into the future, not just "Well, this is what we want it for with this patch and we'll think about how to rework it later when things change." Doing it the latter way is just begging for inefficient UI design.
I like EdwardRage's idea since it is nice and compact but I think they wanted to go with horizontal bars for consistency. But in that case they could just put the HP bars under the job symbols for the same effect.
That is a 3 party alliance. Your own party's information is displayed in the normal party interface.Quote:

If the Alliance UI could evolve in detail with Alliances toggle button (you can on/off to view each Alliance status)
Now looking on the Main UI (1080p) screen
Umm - I guess it would fit even on low resolutions..

What? Vertical progress bars!?

I like it :)
Looks like SE's faster solution was to just increase the height of the hp bar
That's a nice aesthetic design, but it's usefulness is subjective. To me, the bars are far to small to easily take in with a quick glance. The current design suits it's purpose, although the fat squat bar is horrible for telling health percentage etc so overhealing tends to occur a lot.
I would rather prefer them in list style similar to the current party bars, there's obviously no need for MP/TP (although having the option to display below HP is nice) and it can allow for 2-3 debuffs to be shown next to each health bar (health bars need to be extended, my preference would be almost double their current width). Finally I would like to be able to replace party bars with a raid bar for your group as well, I don't see the necessity for having unwieldy large frames in any party circumstance. I would PS the current bars to show how I would like them, but this is only subjective to my own opinion and I'm sure other people would disagree with it anyway.
I think the alliance UI is fine. Whenever they come out when addons people who want some kind of custom UI probably can get it then.
