This is a moot point, we know for a fact Yoshi has stated its gonna be going away with the dungeons
OP please close thread.
Actually I do agree with them. Because I understand where SE was going with them. The problem they had was nomenclature and how strict they were.
Had they called it Rested XP and what is now "Normal XP Gain" was claimed to be "200%" XP while Rested that you lost the bonus down until you hit "100%" XP unrested (Normal 10% Fatigue) and never went farther, no one would have ever complained.
SE had no content so they wanted to slow the playerbase down, had nothing to do with keeping everyone on even footing...because as you can see, fatigue or otherwise, the hardcore players have pretty much separated themselves from the casuals. I agree, if their plan was to give the casuals a boost, rested SP would've been the obvious choice.
I would of been okay with fatigue if the surplus xp/sp went into a merit system. But the fact the sp/xp is just wasted really bugs me. But abolition of this system is due to happen so lets be happy.
It's all in the execution. Seriously... I don't like saying it... but take a hint from WoW. Cairdeas is right. Rested EXP after being in town long enough/logged out, and normal exp otherwise. I don't know about exact percents, but still. I doubt anyone would even notice that part was similar to WoW... unless they read this. o.o Besides, other MMORPG's have done it too.
Besides anything like that, forget it. Let hardcore players get as high level as they want. They put that much time in, they deserve it. Just make enough content for the rest of us so we can have fun getting to max level too. Don't leave all content at the end for just the hardcore players. Cater to everyone! ;D
Fatigue is stupid because it doesnt really even work.
The penalty is not harsh enough to make a difference anyway. And a progression system based on grinding is the problem anyway, not how fast people can get through the system.
It is basically this, in reality the fatigue is the best sp/xp bonus any mmo has ever given to us, but people see it as no fatigue as 100% sp and everything else as a penalty. People never look at WoW and Rift and other games like that as you losing 50% of your xp gain in like 20mins, when in FFXIV it would take around 50+ strait hours of leveling to hit that high of a fatigue.
Fatigue is negative in theory only, in practice the game does not stop anyone from playing. It might slow them down some but so does every other mmo on the planet.
.
Wow's System for example is how you can name something that is horrible negative 50% slower sp gain a bonus and people love it, and how in ffxiv the same things is viewed as a negative and people rage quit over it. People do not look at it in substance.
But in the end it does not matter they already said they are removing it.
I find it ironic that fatigue was put in to discourage rmt and botting and FFXIV is probably the most heavily botted MMO out there with a good 50% or more of the top 100 players on every server (ffxi pro stats based solely on sp gained) botting.
I highly doubt fatigue was ever put in to discourage botting, If anything it encourages botting. It was to control peoples leveling speed and encourage people to level multiple classes.
no they stated in beta that it was to prevent botting and RMT when there was a huge backlash against it. And it kinda worked at the start but then they changed it and messed it up.
Like it took a month to bot a job to 50 originally. the first mrd on my server botted the entire job (was an rmt or someone selling the account) and only managed to hit 50 a week before the second mrd and i did (third).
With all the other jobs almost all the first to hit 50 were legit players (we all partied together like 10+ hours a day for like 3 weeks straight).
So it worked at first.... just not anymore.
awesome name odette. i agree with you. i had come to accept the 36 hour guildleves, but in fact it messes you up if you try to play with a lower level friend, because then you need more sets of guildleves just for them at their lower level camps. but obviously, the timer only exists to limit faction point accumulation, something that was never too apparent in the beginning. they should just get rid of faction points if that's what's holding back the guildleves. makes me think though.. if i could do them anytime i might not be as inclined to do them.. haha.
News flash people every mmo slows down progression it's called the progression curve, sound familiar? You should know that if they take it off there will be a recompense, the curve needs to be there and SE knows that if anything it needs to be more severe. Far too many people are already having 10+ 50s.
If they want us to play in a certain way they should always encourage it through bonuses, not penalizations.Quote:

While it seems they could have gotten away with it if they had worded it differently, I just don't think so. Any form of limiting exp gain in a game where there is absolutely nothing to do but grind would just piss players off.
Its all words.
WoW has a "Rested XP" system. The first 30 minutes or so of XPin you do after logging in you get "200%" xp. Once you hit a certain amount of XP or time played it drops to "100%"
No one seems to complain because they think of it as a bonus when in reality its a fatigue like XIV. XIV's just goes too far.
IMO this game's rest exp system is leves, your rested exp is your 8 leves every 36 hours.
I think it should be removed, why does a company have to force me to play a specific way on a game I am paying for (well im not but soon will be when they throw in fees). Why are they telling me how I should play and when, its pathetic. So I am all for removing it.
one of the few poor things... many so tiny things are on their schedule atm and could be fixed fast...
im not sure why they don't do this with a small hotfix... they shouldnt bring these things up for future patches to be implemented, rather change them right away. IF changing the surplus to not-surplus is hard to do then i think well have serious issues with any future patches...
If removing fatigue is what stops people from making hundreds of these topics then I'm all for it.
Its on the way out of the door already, calm down. Jumping up and down about it is not going to make it come sooner.

BTW COOL STORY BRO!
i'll be glad when it's gone.
I think the fatigue system is alright now if you solo 2-3 star leves and have a moderate timeframe in which to play. Doing 5 star Dunesfolk, etc, can hit the cap very fast, but more casual play can take about 1-3 days to start hitting fatigue (which is fairly bad design, in my opinion... why penalize people for playing together to achieve a greater goal?).
The fact that fatigue can revert back after breaks helps somewhat, but I think it may become a more noticeable issue once new players are given a reason to actually play this game (i.e. fun).
However, the fatigue system becomes somewhat obselete after end-game is reached and the level cap is gradually raised through expansions, since the effect of the system becomes much less noticeable. Its main use is found in the initial levels in an MMO.
