OP please close thread.
Actually I do agree with them. Because I understand where SE was going with them. The problem they had was nomenclature and how strict they were.
Had they called it Rested XP and what is now "Normal XP Gain" was claimed to be "200%" XP while Rested that you lost the bonus down until you hit "100%" XP unrested (Normal 10% Fatigue) and never went farther, no one would have ever complained.
I have to thank Square-Enix for the amazing job they have done recreating Final Fantasy XIV from Scratch. Especially the inclusion of Missing Genders which we petitioned for in good faith. This was proof to us players that the Developers are truly Sympathetic to our requests and that being honest and vocal can pay off with the amazing characters we have who are Female Roegadyn, Male Miqote, and Female Highlanders. Thank You SE, Thank You Community Team, Thank You Yoshi-P.
SE had no content so they wanted to slow the playerbase down, had nothing to do with keeping everyone on even footing...because as you can see, fatigue or otherwise, the hardcore players have pretty much separated themselves from the casuals. I agree, if their plan was to give the casuals a boost, rested SP would've been the obvious choice.Actually I do agree with them. Because I understand where SE was going with them. I would of been okay with fatigue if the surplus xp/sp went into a merit system. But the fact the sp/xp is just wasted really bugs me. But abolition of this system is due to happen so lets be happy.
It's all in the execution. Seriously... I don't like saying it... but take a hint from WoW. Cairdeas is right. Rested EXP after being in town long enough/logged out, and normal exp otherwise. I don't know about exact percents, but still. I doubt anyone would even notice that part was similar to WoW... unless they read this. o.o Besides, other MMORPG's have done it too.
Besides anything like that, forget it. Let hardcore players get as high level as they want. They put that much time in, they deserve it. Just make enough content for the rest of us so we can have fun getting to max level too. Don't leave all content at the end for just the hardcore players. Cater to everyone! ;D
Fatigue is stupid because it doesnt really even work.
The penalty is not harsh enough to make a difference anyway. And a progression system based on grinding is the problem anyway, not how fast people can get through the system.
It is basically this, in reality the fatigue is the best sp/xp bonus any mmo has ever given to us, but people see it as no fatigue as 100% sp and everything else as a penalty. People never look at WoW and Rift and other games like that as you losing 50% of your xp gain in like 20mins, when in FFXIV it would take around 50+ strait hours of leveling to hit that high of a fatigue.Actually I do agree with them. Because I understand where SE was going with them. The problem they had was nomenclature and how strict they were.

Fatigue is negative in theory only, in practice the game does not stop anyone from playing. It might slow them down some but so does every other mmo on the planet.
.
Wow's System for example is how you can name something that is horrible negative 50% slower sp gain a bonus and people love it, and how in ffxiv the same things is viewed as a negative and people rage quit over it. People do not look at it in substance.
But in the end it does not matter they already said they are removing it.

I find it ironic that fatigue was put in to discourage rmt and botting and FFXIV is probably the most heavily botted MMO out there with a good 50% or more of the top 100 players on every server (ffxi pro stats based solely on sp gained) botting.
