Coil tanking Paladin here... finally got my warrior to 50. Equipping my Darklight and Allagan with a crap i55 axe was fun, lol.
Gotta say despite mountain buster hitting SO MUCH HARDER... warrior is way more fun.

Look at the bright side, its good training for healers!
Maqaqa nice HP lol
Having both tanks at 50 and running content with them both. I agree WAR is infinitely more fun. PLD is about the most boring thing I've ever done in a game.
I never tanked before in a game, but I found Warrior to be a lot of fun. Just concerned about getting around to Coil runs.
You'll only have a little time to try "hard mode" Warrior before they make life much easier. There'll be less soloing of content but more viability in relevant content so don't dally if you want to see what these forums have been buzzing about the last few months.
Indeed Warrior is a much more fun tank than Paladin.
It is a lot more active in its gameplay compared to Pally which is pretty much jut 6 buttons.
You can do Coil runs, its quite a bit harder for a Warrior compared to a Paladin, but it can be done.
In fact Storm's Eye is a very useful debuff on bosses since it increases enmity generation for the MT, particularly on ADS
I think this exactly is what bothers PLD's: too simple.. Leveling one myself now, going Coil soon with it. If it's true, it explains why suddenly (on my server) there are 2/3 WARs per fate group leveling one: it scares you how many flavor-of-the-month-people play this game..
I had planned to play warrior from the get go. I got it to 35 in the beta and would have rolled it in live but after much research PLD was simply better, and still is. There was no guarantee that SE would ever do anything about the tanking disparity and I started this game with the intention of forming an FC and doing coil so PLD was the obvious choice.
Thankfully I can now leave the PLD tanking to our other coil tank and I go about swinging my axe :)
This is why the second class that I leveled was PLD. WAR was the more fun tank that I wanted to play, but PLD was explicitly better. I leveled a PLD so that, when it was needed, I could swap to PLD (since most of their gear is shared) and play WAR in any situation that it wasn't. It's what I still do: for t1, I almost always play WAR; for t2, I only play PLD when we need the extra silence; and, for t4, I pretty much have to play PLD because tanks get completely rocked in that fight and pretty much *require* the PLD CD suite.
In all honesty, I've seen a lot of WAR in Fate groups for a while (long before the buffs were listed...heck, joined one as a WHM early last month and over half the group were WAR)
But yeah, I best most of them now are PLD afraid to lose tanking spots. I'll be leveling PLD soon...and may grab one of the slots newly-opened by these people.
And how do they deal with having a dread at 2 stacks as tanking the spiders + a dread will result in them being eaten.
This just seems like a massive cluster fudge. You'll have 1 regular dread, 1 dread +2, a knight, a soldier, and a rook between 2 warriors. How could they possibly split the aggro reliably meanwhile heal with healer threat meanwhile deal with dps who can't really stop that long due to the enrage.
My group never did double dread. We burned the p4 dreadnought while I tanked/kited the soldier/knight. The dread died by the time p5 happened and, when the whole group spawned, OT grouped them up (and fed the dread) while the DPS nuked down the rook. As soon as aggro was established, OT started kiting/jousting the soldier/knights and, as soon as the rook was dead, BLM threw down the AoE LB, rDPS started killing knights/soldiers, and mDPS started on the dread.
For that strat, PLD is required as the offtank because it's pretty much impossible to establish threat on the final spawn without Hallowed Ground to give you 10 seconds of Flash spam. WAR can be the MT because it's just tanking a single dread at a time.
