I will miss you Inner Beast - Solo WP 1st Boss

Yo i always felt like Warrior must be fun so after i geared my Monk i tried a Warrior and yeah he always was fun no matter what. And i do agree with fellow warriors that the selfheal is what makes the warrior unique so i am also disappointed abt the Inner Beast Change. I mean that damage reduce is really awesome but i dont know - tuning down the selfheal like that makes Warrior feel much different.

However, after i got my relic now and i have full 70 gear i decided to have some fun with selfheal and killed 1st WP Boss alone. For those who like to see it, link below.

I will not miss our pathetic self heal I used twice during a 2 minute boss fight. I want to be able to use inner beast as often as possible for the extra dmg and utility. The change will give us more reason to use it. It is also very dependent on how hard we hit. The change will not.

I will not miss the old inner beast.

Selfheal was no way pathetic. I laughed alot abt Warrior crying they are completly useless but still there are Warriors who main tanked Twintania. I guess you should rather play Paladin then. You always had a reason to use it but u had to know when. The good change is the heal buff is now permanent but losing so much selfheal makes warrior like half a paladin.

I'll enjoy being able to choose what to spend Wrath stacks on and when, rather than deciding if it's wise to even spend them at all outside of Infuriate. Also not having to compete with my healers to avoid overhealing and instead being better able to make their job easier.

We'll lose a little bit of ability to solo old, irrelevant content but who cares.... we'll actually scale better for 24 mans and content in general.

It's not abt beating irrelevant content its about how the class was originally designed. Warrior used selfheal to survive, now warrior has more mitigation than selfheal. As i said i love the changes but that inner beast thing doesnt make me happy and some fellow warriors too.

When I joined the Marauder guild, the guildmaster didn't ask me "Are you ready to self heal like crazy?" (neither did Curious Gorge, if you want to be picky) He asked me "Are you ready for carnage?" We still easily have that compared to the feel of playing Paladin. The Paladin's answer is still to hunker down with their shield. The Warrior answer to a problem is still HIT IT HARDER.

If we want to go into a 'feel of Inner Beast' debate/discussion outside of the balance discussion, I'll say that the only thing getting 'weaker' is the green number. You could just assume that when you 'unleash' your Inner Beast, every enemy in range is so terrified of your display of raw power that they subconciously hold back when attacking you out of fear, causing them to do less damage (so powerful is your visage that even raid bosses are not immune upon seeing your display). Quest line put a lot more emphasis on a Warrior's 'inner beast' being scary and primal, not how it let a Warrior sustain themself for extended periods of time. That's all head canon anyway, though when it comes to the 'feel' of a class those types of things can be just as important to someone's enjoyment as the actual balance of the class.

Self heals don't let you survive heavy burst damage. IB can help on Titan mainly because Rockbiter is spaced a few seconds apart from Mountain Buster, rather than it all being on Mountain Buster - not every fight is like that with its burst damage (Ifrit Extreme's breath could be interesting). Since PLD has Shield Oath DR, the higher HP of Warrior is basically just for show as both can take about the same number of hits without heals before face planting. You have to survive the hit before you can heal yourself up from it.

Haha nice! A little overgeared aren't we? Wished I could do the same with my current gear. Sadly... nope.

Like This Comment If you want to petition for them to Leave the 300% Heal in Inner Beast + the 20% mitigation. With the 6sec DR, it really compensate for War's lack of sheild. Gimping Our Best ability will end up hurting us in the long run. While PLD continues to scale with Content, we scale with healer and are at the mercy of Healer Gear.

The new Inner Beast absolutely destroys the old one.

First warrior now scales like paladin. 20% of a hit will be 20% less damage for either. In another thread it has been shown warrior will now be better than paladin in the shorter fights, until the paladin as had enough time to block enough times. Also if the skill had both high healing and damage reduction it would end up on cool down which would make it worse than what is being given.

Second, yes inner beast was a fun skill to use, but that skill alone did not put warrior nearly on par with paladin. It just didn't scale right. Yes it is really awesome for doing content that is meant for AF gear, while you are in full darklight or ilvl 90 gear. At the end though it just wasn't enough. Yes warriors can clear all content currently, but with an equally geared and skilled paladin the same content would be much easier.

Ok this makes me angry seriously? Why am I healing you warrior's on this fight if you can self heal...I mean really I have better things to do on this boss fight. Like...I don't know. Go to the bathroom, watch porn, watch TV...Seriously I'm not healing any more warriors on this first boss fight.

Nice video (you didnt use Holmgang! <3) but to be honest id rather take a dmg abs when it matters than the ability to solo WP first boss through self heals.
The new IB will be an amazing skill to anticipate damage spikes: it will top you to 100% hp and then absorb 20% of the damage inc... its just to good to not take it.

But yes i WILL miss my IBs, especially the IB -> infuriate -> IB -> convalescence combo, it has no real purpose but damn its fun to go from 20% hp to full in 1 second!

Now the next challenge: the second boss! I wish we could try this stuff without having to bother three friends.

If we were to do this, I am pretty sure that you would be tanking the mob. He is focused solely on self healing instead of doing threat rotation. But I agree... its beastly.

Ehh, not the first time i've had to tank a boss before haha.

The Warriors tanking Twintania was because they had an EXCELLENT support team. The real question is how much easier/faster would it have been with a PLD? These buffs are purely to put us on par with PLD, having a self heal (granted a large self heal) on a long cooldown and causing you to loss you healing buff that was our only saving grace was just poor decision making on SE's part.

Only way it made sense to use it was if Infuriate was up so you could immediately get your healing buff back. Other than that, you used it in a bad situation, and if Infuriate was not up you healed yourself to get through it but then right after when you needed healing the most you lost your healing bonus! And that makes sense to you? Just so you can see a large self heal a couple times a boss fight?

i actually like the way you explained that. it kind of makes me change my mind about keeping inner beast the way it is now and moving the 20% dr to steel cyclone. but it doesn't change my mind about the fact that steel cyclone needs something to give us more of a reason to use it more often.

Tank only first boss?

I tank all bosses in WP self-heal :) only 1 piece of AF2 (hands) and 1 hero's fending ring. (rest full DL, relic+1).
The first boss is the easiest, 2nd bost is a bit ricky, 3rd boss is easy as well.

I won't miss the big heals, great utility {Yes, please.}! I can use it at-will, when I want it & need it.

Second boss is tricky?

You walk through him when he casts Fire. Congratulations you just solo'd him.

Tanking JUST the 3rd boss is easy. 3rd boss plus the others? Not as much. Depends on how well you clear and control the adds solo, but doable.

Why do you run so far away when you run through the boss? You're spending more than a GCD running away hahaha.

Did that in wp more than once. I'll really miss the big heal, but as someone already said, we can use it more often now. Excited for 2.1

I will not miss the current IB. It essentially only ever got used when Infuriate was up, which put an artificial CD on it and also monopolized Infuriate. Stupid. New IB is awesome.

That's a function of how defiance/wrath is designed, not IB.

Just did a 3 WAR 1 SMN run last night in WP, no one was super overgeared, and it was very smooth and a ton of fun! I will miss stuff like that in 2.1!
