In Progress Dungeons

Dear SE:

Please make it so that either:

• Queueing for In Progress duties is handled completely separate from new instances of those duties.
  
  or
  
  
• if a queue entry pops and someone withdraws they have to wait 5 minutes to re-queue.

It is really annoying to see pop > withdrawn > pop > withdrawn a couple dozen times before finally getting a good queue all because some tank or healer is trying to force an "in progress" to pop for them.

For those unfamiliar, tanks and healers get almost instant queues. Some will queue for "in progress" and constantly withdraw if they get a pop for a new instance. For the others who get the same queue pop, the confirmation constantly appears and disappears.

This is inconvenient for everyone involved. Please fix this, SE.

Its not, 'inconvenient' for me. If I wanted to join a 0/3 progress grp I'd join a new instance.

or.... give us an option to join in-progress only.

don't blame us!! we're good guys trying to help parties that lost members. a lot of bad players will rage quit if their party cannot defeat the Demon Wall and other bosses, leaving so many poor fresh lv50 players in sorrow. we're the hero that always come to help them.

They don't anymore.

But yeah, if people wanted to join a fresh run, they'd uncheck that option. It's an inconvenience for everyone.

And its rude people like you who are the ones the OP is talking about. I think the Myth should be broken up amongst the bosses in the dungeons...

This would stop the PiP abusers. And I've entered into AK only for the other person (not in my FC party) to auto-drop... Sometimes 1/3 (Wall) is because the player who left was massively undergeared too.

This simple idea is actually better, I wonder why SE wouldn't thought of this, yet they did this to Philosophy tomes instead.

Honestly this issue is a nonfactor other than that hearing the queue pop sound 20 times is kind of distracting.

Yes people abuse it but the guys abusing it are too stupid to realize it doesn't even work (because abusing the system only works if you're the only guy doing it, which is extremely unlikely) and the guys who don't abuse it aren't affected by the abusers, since without the abusers you wouldn't even hear the annoying queue pop sound to begin with (though the sound does get annoying).

Not a good idea, because then no one would join parties in progress (since rewards would suck) meaning tanks or healers would just leave if party sucks and the remaining players inside would be screwed and had to leave too... with 20+ min waiting on DF to pop up again... so your solution would bring another diferent problem. The best solution was one i read in this thread already... put PiP in a diferent spot of the "new" dungeon.

This has already been responded to by the devs, the join group in progress tool was only added to facilitate wait times, and help out parties that lose someone, it is not intended to give people a 5 minute run and get full rewards, this is just a side-effect, and you should all just count these occurrences as "lucky".

For arguments sake, say they gave you the option to only queue for in progress dungeons, if everyone wants to join an in progress dungeon, there has to be a fresh one that lost a member before even 1 person will be pulled from that queue. You would be waiting for hours, it's not like it would be "oh there are 500 people who all want an in progress dungeon, well, there are 5 groups that need members, ok, 5 of them get groups, the other 495 get to sit there. It's not like you'd magically all get dungeons 3/4 done.

Here's what I'd like to see happen with the duty finder:

When filling an in progress dungeon (lets say it's 2/4 and thus needs 2 members) do NOT have it pop up and fill 1 person at a time. What often happens is somebody will enter, go "oh, it's missing a tank/healer/whatever" and then drop, which creates sort of a "revolving door" dungeon that constantly cycles through members who enter and then immediately drop when the dungeon isn't full.

Instead, wait for the queue to fill the remaining members, then have it pop up for people to accept, and then put them in all at once. That way anyone that queues for a partial won't be getting tossed into a dungeon that only has 1 guy in it, and will instead be guaranteed a full group that will actually be able to finish without waiting. This also helps the people inside, as the group will fill instead of having people enter/drop nonstop.

How about those DPS tools that keep withdrawing over and over? I'm short a dps for a few dungeon runs and dbags love to afk while waiting for the queue to pop. That is annoying. Personally I think everyone sucks.

They should just do away with the option all together I think.

With the very strict instance timers on this game (and they are strict, I don't care what anyone says) it's basically a waste of time to join a group already in progress. 99% of the time you are probably going to lose due to a time out. There just isn't enough time allotted to replace members. Especially if that member was a tank.

How is having over an hour to clear a 15-20 minute dungeon strict?

This. I've failed one dungeon run in my entire time playing and it was a bad AV group that couldn't grasp the final boss. With lengthy AFKs I've not taken more than an hour to finish a dungeon via DF in this game. You have 90mins. Don't be that guy.
