So...I target the tank and start healing healing healing...Then suddenly he takes a huge spike in damage, so I panic and start tossing Lustrates at him. And it's here that something strange happens...The first Lustrate lands on him, the second on me, and the third on him.
The above scenario has manifested in various forms over my time playing. Occasionally, a heal(Lustrate, Adloquium, and Physick alike) would end up hitting me instead of the targeted tank. Similarly, I was noticing that a
/ac "Lustrate" <t>
/ac "Lustrate <tt>
macro wasn't working properly. When I flipped those two lines, suddenly every lustrate hit me when I was targeting the tank.
Browsing through the options, I found nothing that would seem to cause this. It was annoying, but the occasional wandering heal didn't stop me overall, so I didn't care enough.
But now it's interfering with my ability to do coil, and so I'd like to change this self-targeting behavior. Someone know the option to stop this?

It is more than a little frustrating.
If you are using a macro for lustrate that has two lines with different commands and you find yourself spamming the macro it's kind of a crapshoot about which line will take priority. I've noticed this when I tried to make a macro for my bard to fire off all of my offensive cooldowns. If I spam the macro the order of cooldowns can be pretty random. -

The <t> / <tt> macro-duos do not work reliably anymore.
As far as I know, this is correct. You're technically trying to heal the mob, so it acts the same way as it would when you're soloing.Quote:

In the default settings, when you cast a spell without target (or in this case, when your target is not valid), the spell gets cast on yourself. It's somewhere in the character settings I think, and you can disable it.

I'm really confused at everyone elses confusion. THis is a simple concept . <tt> = Target of my Target /Target that this target is targeting. If you are trying to heal the target of your target... and your target is the tank..... the tank will have a monster targeted. You can not heal a monster therefore you will default to yourself. Working reliably and as intended.
<tt> Is more appropriately used for offensive abilities for example Energy Drain. Using <tt> for healing and supportive skills is just.. well silly. Your tank or party members are never going to have each other targeted unless by freak misclick and even in that case they would unlikely have the person you are actually trying to heal targeted... Stop using <tt> on cures... it's not intended for that... If you are trying to make a macro that heals your target use <mo>,<t>, <me> or <p1-8>. -

The game is not "working reliably and as intended." Either heals are -not- supposed to work with <tt>, and the game is bugged and allowing them to work. Or it -is- supposed to work, and therefore should allow a macro like above to work without defaulting to self-healing. -

And when you were targeting a mob it would cure the person who had aggro, and when you were targeting a player it would give you a generic error message for the first line and then immediately go into the second action, thus curing your actual target.
Some games even have options to have this happen automatically, all the time. Lotro has a check box in it's options called "Target Forwarding." The game automatically recognizes whether an ability you use works on your current target, and if it doesn't will then use that ability on your target's target if it is applicable.
It is actually an incredibly handy option for numerous reasons. Never seem to know which mob you are supposed to be hitting? Target the tank, all your actions will forward to his target.
Soloing a FATE while waiting for the DF? Now you can cure whoever is getting hit by your target without having to change targets yourself!

from personal experience <mo> macros tend to work better as I can heal from the party window. If you add <t> or <tt> to the macro after <mo>, it will default to you sometimes and usually at the most inopportune time. If you want a more reactive heal that is going to hit your target without having to click go with <mo>. I just move my UI around to where my party window is at the bottom right hand side of my screen and move my buff/debuff bar right above it so I can keep an eye on Rot timer. I had an issue where it was auto defaulting to me before I just left <mo> and now I don't have this issue.

another thing to note about party window placement, with it being on the bottom of the screen I can see if I am standing in a red reticle and move accordingly without having to look down since my eyes are already there.
