No, really I'm curious. Since all their times are given in PDT, I'm assuming SE sets up shop somewhere on the west coast (likely Cali)? If that's the case there's no massive intercontinental time zone difference to wade around, so why do they put maintenance times where they do, rather than in the lowest traffic hours of the day when people are usually at work/school? Yes, I am aware other countries around the world play as well, Japan being one of them. I am also aware that they have split maint times before to accommodate that time difference by performing maint on NA and JP worlds at different times.

the times are set for every time zone. They ( SE ) gives the time(s) for things in your region . The SE NA home office is on the west cost so the time given is PST. The Europe time is made in there time zone because the EU SE home office is there . Same for Japan . I think what SE thinks is for North America is this . Our Prime time is about 6pm EST 6pm CDT 6pm MNT 6pm PST and the number drop off around 8pm EST 8pm CDT 8pm MNT 8pm PST. Now the maintenance was at 8pm PST witch is 9pm MNT 10pm CDT and 11pm EST . Another reason why most maintenance starts at 11pm PST until 2am PST . Because most players will be sleeping in the NA region at that time . 11pm PST=12MNT=1CDT-2EST and 2am PST=3MNT-4CDT-5EST . Thats my thinking

Honestly, it's a good time. Bad for me, but, at 8 PM PDT, it's not so bad, especially on a weekday. Normaly, people should be getting to bed or winding down ready for some sleep, so it's a good "Natural" time. But, for most others, it's kinda right there in the middle of happy fun time of gaming.
Also, since it's all world, I'm guessing it's through the head department scheduling so, it probably suits them more. Usually how it goes honestly. -

My memories are cloudy... but if I remeber correctly, even if you guys have datacenters over at your side of the pond, most stuff are still located at Japan.
Think of it as not like locatised mmo, where each region have its very own unqiue environment.
The local datacenters are nothing more then a bridge, to send data from JP. -

However at some point they'll roll in the Lightning/FF13 content so they can do final testing before flipping the switch to make it go public.Quote:
