Will 2.1 offer any lasting content to players who are on or cleared turn 5?

Will 2.1 offer any lasting raid content to players who are on or cleared turn 5? If CT is tuned as a stepping stone to coil, it would not be really good farmable raid content in contrast to coil.

I also heard rumors that the new hard mode primals will fall between CT and Coil difficulty wise.

It seems like 2.1 might be lacking real raid content. Currently, with coil being so small, raiders are going to get bored fast.

Personally, I can see myself running out of stuff to do in the future if pve content patches are going to be this meager.

Time to make a new character!

Lol, i'm pretty sure the Extreme modes will be killed before 2.2.

I've cleared Twintania. I do feel like PvP and the new HM dungeons and Primal difficulty will hold me out until new Coil content. As well as stocking up the FC house.

To be fair 1.0 only had about 20-30k subs at the point people were even ready to handle extreme Ifrit. So comparing that to 2.0 where last they said anything about subs about a week ago they were around 600k, it doesn't really say much.

In short - No, unless you count FC housing as "lasting content." 2.1 is mostly introducing stuff that was supposed to be in at launch.

This.. which kinda irks me. This game was advertised as having pvp, yet it doesn't come with it until months later. And we got access to coils, but not the pre-req to it , Crystal Towers.. which is also months later. 2.1 is just bringing to the table what should have already been served -_-

This game was made for casuals, so if you're running out of content/burned through coil already, its your own fault.

Only people without a social life are gonna run out of content; SE doesn't take into consideration, some of you eat, sleep, and breathe this shit.

For those that completed turn 5 are the minority. Not many people haven't ( or barely) got to coil yet. For most, Crystal Tower and Coil will still give the "majority" a lot to work towards ( as well as the new dungeons and new modes for primals.

for the minority? probably not so much ( however, they shouldn't let gear stop them from getting gear for their alts, clearing Crystal Tower etc.) In the end the content will be made available it's up to the player to play the content :P.

for the Majority? Yes it will last them to 2.2 possibly longer in some people's circumstances.

People complaining about running out of content is like buying a box of chocolates and complaining to cadbury after you ate them all in one sitting.

A lot of people are saying Ifrit is going to be the tough one during extreme fights.
Story
Ifrit > Titan > Garuda

Hard mode
Ifrit > Garuda > Titan

It's ifrits turn to be the toughest of the set.

Are people forgeting Extreme Mode primals and the secret hidden boss?

The problem with this whole game is it's End Game content is nothing more than virtual dodge ball. Seriously name one level 50 instance dungeon that does not require the same basic mechanics of " DODGE THE BIG RED CIRCLE " ok.. switch up.. now " DODGE THE BIG RED CONE ok... real tricky one coming up... Try and " DODGE The Puddles on the GROUND to include one of the following ... FIRE / ICE / ELECTRICITY / ACID / SLUDGE / AIR POCKETS / aka... PLUMES. Ok if you survived... the real trick coming up is... everyone TRY and DODGE the INVISIBLE ATTACKS : Elemental Attacks which require you to HIDE behind a structure to not take damage... Walls , Statues , Rocks .. ect. This game needs to build around a CORE Gameplay outside fo Dungeons / Instances. I suggest something along the lines of MONSTER HUNTER. Track down a HNM and group up with 24 people to Kill the SOB.

Monster Hunter type game wont work in an open world where everyone has access to the areas. Unless you suggest it being a leve type quest and even then would be fairly easy to find the guy. This worked for MonHun because it was it was a hub based not open world. I've been away from most MMO outside of PSO2 and even then it was just memorizing patterns. Only difference was I was able to dodge every move no matter where as in 14 and other MMO you still had certain undodgable attacks mixed in with dodgable attacks.

Bahamut's Coil isn't really that difficult which is a massive problem.

You do know coil turns 1-4 only take about an hour right? You don't need to spend 24/7 on this game to have a relic weapon and be progressing through coil.

I'm honestly pretty surprised I'm already on turn 5.
I enjoy coil enough to keep doing it, and turn 5 is a much whole different beast from the previous ones.

That might just be because Crystal Tower is meant to help you get upgrades to do turn 5. So the gear requirements seem a bit steep now.
I guess I prefer an earlier release than waiting till Crystal Tower was done.
Complaining about 2.1 being late is dumb imo. It would've just meant we would've had to wait for December to even get into this game.
I think they made the right choice.

Yeah i doubt new content will hold people seriously most coil runners are on turn 5 now or have cleared now that guides are online.

I cant see that lasting more than 2 or so weeks before i have all crafted items for house as market will be flooded...then what i just look at it lol. But
I will still sub cause it cheap and I still have friends who play

Actually, it will allow people to focus on gearing up one job at a time on coil while still getting better than DL gear without spending myth stones for their other jobs....

The game is completely empty on challenging combat content. You have Twintania, and that's about it. And Twintania you are facing with less than full ilv90....with ilv90 it'll be a joke too.

It really depends on how SE handles it. Crystal tower is throw away gear at launch which is a poor move on SE's part... they need to stop this linear crap. But it is filler content for coil, hopefully it will be worth doing as a guild. But there are key questions they have not answered.

Is Tower going to have any kind of lockout? Is it going to be more token grinding bs? Is SE actually making an alliance system?.... they have not told us about (still wondering how we enter with 3 groups since there is no feature to do it... worrying me they might force us to pug it at this point).

Crystal tower could be good but if they put all their focus into appeasing the ultra casual 5hrs a week ppl and duty finder ppl it will most likely bomb hardcore. SE need to start putting focus on guilds... that is what keeps people in mmos long term not the ability to que for everything.

I wonder what percentage of subscribers have even entered the coil?

I think for the vast majority of players CT will be great and offer very relevant rewards. Everything can't be for the elite, sorry guys.

I work 40 hours a week, and have a social life. I've cleared turn 5, so I can say without a doubt that I'm living proof your envious presumptions are wrong.

I think people missed it, they are adding extreme mode primals which are for the hardcore in 2.1. Sure you get crystal which is for the casual players but extreme modes isn't casual for sure.

the problem may also be will the extreme modes be worth doing? I mean if they make extreme mode a part of lets say +2 Relic weapon req, great a reason to do it. If not whats the point? Though i am tempted to wonder if lets say Garuda. Will she return to her very hard old ways thats not a pattern. i hate to toot my own horn in 1.0 on Masamune i did like the fact she was hard and my ls was one of first shells to beat her after the BLM sr was killed with a group that wasnt the normal build to win. or will she still be patternized just with more dmg and hp? same with Ifrit will he still be patterized or will he return to the only Thing that we couldnt beat in 1.0 (mainly cause 1.0 ended before we could get better at it). Titan i will imagine stay with the pattern cause jesus christ could you imagine 2 to 3 stomps in a row or 3 mountain busters that catch a tank of guard.

Nobody knows what extreme modes could drop, possible level 100 gear, quest for relic+2, that's just it we don't know yet. But they probably would give incentive for people who beat coil to not have a patch with all casual content.

I wasn't aware that working with 7 other people (who are likely friends) to do raids and such didn't count as being social. Who knew?

If you guys find yourselves short on challenging, dynamic content, you could always give PvP a try, which is coming in 2.1.

If hardcore players are bored, they could try and prove how hardcore they really are and go old school ..... Beat the game with a full party of WHMs only. That's a world first I might actually remember! XD

I think patch 2.1 is less about far reaching endgame and more about bringing lower/mid levels and PS3 players up to speed and on an equal footing, and broadening entry level endgame with dungeons and primals (2 hard dungeons, 1 new, extreme primals, Mog and possibly 1 more primal<?>). SE is probably more concerned to deal with adverse community behaviours at the moment which is really turning off casual players (no one running dungeons or disbanding from dungeons or elitism in party recruiting). That said, I think people underestimate how much time PvP and Housing will eat up.

You don't need to be hardcore to be on turn 5 in coil. Getting to 50, if you took your time takes like 3 weeks - 1 month. If you did ~1.5 runs a day (7-8 hrs of playing a week) it would take a month tops for full DL and relic +1. In 1 month of coil, it's pretty easy to down turn 4, took my group 2 weeks. We raid for 2-3 hours 2-3 times a week and i only need book and gloves from coil, so, i can safely say i'm not 'hardcore' I just had a solid group of people. Unfortunately, crystal tower feels like a step back for me at this point. I'll probably end up doing it as a summoner, rather than my sch main.

As someone who is on turn 8 of Coil, I don't think these "Extreme" Primals will be much of a problem. I will literally solo all of them with my special Paladin build that allows me to DPS, get 7k out of my cure, and cycle my defensive cooldowns to take 1 damage from each hit. Crystal Tower will be so easy that I will do each run with my butt on the keyboard. Progression ftw. :]

Wanna know whats hard? Turn 20 when you face Bahamut for the second time. Unlike turn 15 where you had to face off in a hopscotch match you now have to face him in Jeopardy.

Not everyone play only 1 class.
CT would be a good way to get gear for all the other classes without farming Myths or Coil (ilevel 80 gear is good enough until there is a content where ilevel 90 gear is a necessity).
