Yes.
They must contact in-game support called GM Call.
It's a one time process though. So if your friend REALLY wants that item, then they never use the
Item Restoration again.

Well, SE says they have a one time rollback per account (for hacking, lost items etc), I think it's two if you have the token, but apparently they don't have it implemented yet. Or so I was told when I contacted them about it
I wish. Accidently trade in my second month sub items for male bikini wears at Revenant's Troll. Now I can't wear or discard them as a female.
Open up the Support Desk from the Menu, and on the first tab there should be a section for FAQ. Click on the link that says "About In-Game Support" and then click on the button that says "Ask Question." This will allow you to send in a support ticket that doesn't fall under the other criteria such as reporting people or bugs.

I went through the support desk which seemed to get the fastest response on an item restore request for my phail of fantasia. That was done Tuesday, got a response the next day saying they are looking into it and a GM will contact me to have the item restored. Nothing yet, so I wrote them back yesterday and the reply is that my claim is still being investigated.
Granted they are probably busy refunding peoples gil that was stolen with the market hack, but it may take awhile for your friend to get his ring back.

The process takes forever and a day. But, yes they do item restorations.
That article says they can only do this, if you bought the wrong tome item, in which case GMs can replace the item with another of equal or lesser value. Fantasia potion restoration only applies to fantasia.
yea, I bought the lancer darklight gauntlets instead of the pld ones by accident, and its been over a week and still no word. don't expect to get assistance anytime soon
Anyone have any sort of time frame for this? I also contacted the support over a week ago to get an item replaced (bought the BLM relic pants instead of SMN), was told they had my info and would "investigate" (just what do they need to investigate?), and a GM would contact me.
As I said, that was over a week ago, and still no word. So it looks like this is normal? Anyone know how long it does take?
Ya gl with that. SEs reputation when dealing with players has always been extremely harsh.
If reports from players on this forum are any indication, it may take weeks, even months.
I'll always remember that friend of mine who lost his password and couldn't log in for the game's release even though he had bought the game. They took two weeks to essentially reply: "sorry, your issue isn't a priority, we have closed your ticket, please make another one." We were shocked at that answer.
He did create another ticket and after three weeks finally got help.
Just look at Snake Eyes just above who's been waiting since sept. 18 for an item restoration, or Ryligh Kell who was hacked on Oct. 10 and still hasn't got access to his account…
I know I wouldn't count on SE responding any time soon for an item restoration. They can't even deal properly with customers who need help to log it the game, and freeze accounts for weeks or months during those investigations —and in the meantime, they still charge you, which is borderline breach of contract IMHO.
