the devs should be more open with the upcoming changes for warriors

its been a couple weeks since they announced that warriors are getting a buff in 2.1, but i cant help but feel uneasy about what they're going to do.

im worried that they're gonna do some trivial changes and YoshiP will just tell us to figure out what to do with it, like what he first said about warriors when the game came out.

i honestly am hoping on the next developers blogs that they give us something concrete to expect, i'm slowly leveling my paladin and farming up my myth tomes just in case were still gimped come 2.1.

but the warrior play-style is so badass, i even find myself doing pretend axe swings at work and pretending im wrecking an imaginary boss. i mean, the warrior in the opening cinematic looks like the best character.

lets all hope that we get a satisfactory upgrade to our class guys, woopwoop!

I agree, but at the same time they are very secret about everything more or less.

Honestly this game is going down the drain imo. The content patches need to be quicker and more forth coming imo, but that's a topic for another time.

Back to the topic at hand, Warriors will need some major tweaks, I play both very well geared. What I think warriors need is more than what most people think they need.

Paladins rock at aoe threat, You can flash like 20 times straight to hold agro and can continue holding threat with fast blade, riot blade combo followed by flash. The snap agro from the first 20 flashes you do will set you far ahead of everyone else, which gives you time to get mana back through a combo. On a warrior your aoe threat, though people say its good, is not sustainable, unless there is something I don't know about it. But, in theory you can cast flash 4-5 times, then you can over power until you are out of tp. After that you are waiting for tp to regen or you are swapping to a single target / tab rotation which kind of sucks.

In all honesty where a paladin has block they need to make warrior the hp / parry tank that would solve all of the issues as far as mitigation is concerned without changing the way the warrior is played. With that they also need to give warriors better cool downs in line with the paladin. Beserk is useless, bloodbath is useless, pretty much all wrath abilities are useless because you are gimping yourself to use them specially in a raid setting where healing is intense.

Cast flash 20 times in a row? Im sure thats an exaggeration, but how do you have the time before the rest of your team attacks? When doing speed runs people dont wait lol. I may be able to get 2 or 3 flashes off if im lucky before the dps starts attacking, and the single target DD will always rip aggro off me until i cycle to his target and finish my ROH combo off on it. Even the BLM will steal aggro because flash doesnt seem strong enough to compete with the BLM high damaging AOE. I do happen to play with a nasty BLM though so maybe thats why lol. We are all geared the same, I my even have better gear but he just does his rotations perfect and gets crit hits frequently. Flash is good for aggro maintenance IMO but I feel that cycling targets with ROH is way more important and effective.

First pull = Entrance to first boss. Flash each group of mobs as you sprint through them. When you get to the last pack flash then don't flash again until the rest of the mobs catch up, then spam flash until you are oom, then go to using FB, RB, Flash rinse and repeat until all mobs are down. You also want to use circle of Scorn on cool down. I run with coil geared people, time to time yes I lose agro on 1 mob but for the most part I don.t

Second Pull = Everything to the locked doors. Same as before Flash each group of mobs as you run through them. Once you get to the last room Flash the last group 1 time then wait for everything to catch up then chain flash til oom, then FB, RB, Flash rinse repeat until oom.

Third Pull = Skeletons, Floaty things, 2 ton berries and if able the last pack where you click the last door lock. Sometimes you can click it without being notice so have a dps watch this, the rotation is still the same.

Do not use limit until the last pull.

Again flash through each group of mobs as you sprint. The floaters are ranged so when you reach the last pack of mob run to the corner on the left pop hallowed ground ( if needed ) then begin your flashing following the above methods. As soon as your group catches up have a caster limit which should take all of the mobs to half health. Then have them finish it up.

For the last boss just tank him in the center and have dps aoe the adds down as they get close to the center, or just tank them all and focus the boss. If you are a warrior trying to do this, I wish you the best of luck, substitute flash for overpower until you run out of tp. It can be done but it takes a bit more effort, paladin is easy mode.

Fersaken, you can edit to get around the 1000 character limit. Makes it much easier to read what you're trying to say when we don't have to go through a series of micro-posts.

Or you know just not post as much junk that works too.

Anyways back on topic. I prefer them holding the cards close to their chest. People can't act rationally with any given information. If the buffs were revealed all it would be is half the tanks complaining about how that is screwing over paladin, warriors complaining about how that isn't enough and to make them like better paladins, people wrongly showing off math skills to prove either stance while having no actually facts to base it off, that egotistically group of warriors that claim there is nothing wrong right now complaining about how it is being made easy mode or their tactics are maybe being forced to change, and finally that small percent that says just wait until you actually see it implemented before making a fuss but of course they won't post much at all.

the reason you aren't seeing warrior info is because its still being tested that's for the best if they say anything prematurely they don't want to let players down. Its the way mmos are playd.

Well obviously Yoshi P and his team can beat the game content as warrior because they know how to use the skills properly and aren't using the skills based on DPS output or whatever else you guys do. People don't want to use Warrior as warrior was designed so they cry and now they are making a change and your still crying.. grow the f up.

I lvl'd PLD first and after hearing everyone crying about warrior i lvl'd warrior and got my relic. I have had no problems doing ANY content on the game as a warrior using my defensive and cross class defensive skills as well as using the appropiate skills that are mean to be used as a MT and not as OT.

No one said Doing Content as WAR is impossible. What most people agree upon is that it is Significantly easier to do Content As PLD and PLD Mitigation is far superior to WAR Mitigation and there lies the problem. Tanks should be balanced, one should not be significantly better than the othere because eventually the othere will go extict. Also PLD Tool kit is alot better than WAR. WAR has Self healing (which alot are underpowered) and attack enhancing abilities while PLD has Blind, STR Down, % Mitigation which scales better,AOE DoT, Pacification ability, Siliences Ability, Shield which can sometimes negate attacks completely, and ability that makes PLD Invincible.


I also have PLD and WAR at 50, and since I've leveled my PLD to 50 i rarely touch my WAR. Hopefully I will go running back to my WAR in 2.1 because although I play PLD more now, I still love WAR over PLD because its more fun.

You are so naive or didn't paid attention. The problem is found in Bahamut Coil. Yeah WARS can do everything fine up to Titan.

I fully heartily disagree. A wars overpower is very strong and can easily hold threat compared to flash. Flash alone cannot hold agro. I've tried spamming flash. I lose agro all the time. I have to cycle through mobs in order to hold it. Usually small weak trash doesn't matter, but bigger mobs can be troublesome.

His point was that WAR AoE enmity generation is powerful but not even remotely close to sustainable. Overpower will plow through your TP like no one's business. You'll have that much needed enmity cushion while you're waiting for your TP to come back but you're also going to have to deal with likely loss of your Wrath stacks and Maim.

PLD AoE enmity generation is *much* more reliable over the long term than a WAR's, not to mention easier to use. Yes, a PLD will have to spam the living hell out of Flash and CoS to keep aggro on targets getting AoEd down, but it's not like they don't have *enough*. Flash until I'm out of MP and FB>Riot>Flash from that point on is exactly what I do in WP speed runs and I don't have any issues keep enmity off of people.

I would have to disagree again. Leveling a war now I still find it much easier to maintain AoE agree over my paladin. You can cross skill flash on the war. Cast flash when pacified from beserk and single target combo after a couple of overpowers. Rinse and repeat. Overpower x3 -> Main combo -> Overpower x3 (throw in beserk whenever you want). You'll regain some tp during pacification and can cast flash while waiting.

Super super easy to "maintain" agro.

And you're still ignoring the whole "Overpower is super expensive, Flash is basically free". Both of them can keep AoE enmity without much effort. Overpower generates more enmity per use such that, if you're actually catching everything in it, it's easier to do because you're frontloading, but Overpower itself requires more skill to use because you can't just spam it like crazy without destroying your TP (and, btw, you only recover 100 TP over the Pacification from Berserk). It's like comparing Flare to Blizz II. They both do the job of AoE damage, but one can be spammed infinitely while the other does more damage but requires you actually play intelligently and/or stop casting for a certain time frame to recover from it.

To the OP. I actually think they are better off making the most vague announcements they can.

Tweaks and changes in development often get done, tested, fail, and get rebuilt. This process repeats basically until go-live (it shouldn't, but it does). If they announced the changes and then had to change the plan because it A. didn't work as intended or B. they came up with a better idea they'd still have to deal with the negative fallout of making any change at all. Even when the overall direction is positive regardless.

Whenever they make an announcement, they essentially are putting a line in the sand. And it's a lot harder to take a step backward than a step forward at that point.

Think of it like a birthday present. Gotta wait till the day to see what ya got.

I dont find TP limitations to be too troublesome for holding AE hate. by the time i am out of tp, the mobs should be dead, if not, i have more than enough hate to stop and let my tp regen for the next group. For turn 3 and 4, when we get into those big groups of mobs that you AoE down, i have 0 issue taking and holding hate from our pld, especially when i pop cooldowns. turn 4 takes more skill since you need to have a decent amount of tp for the next phase.

So, if we have a competition of who can hold AE hate the longest in a group with bad dps, the pld will win. but in a regular group the mobs will be dead before im out of tp, mp and lose hate.

I do hate it as well.. xD but yes in endgame its not the same, especialy when you find yourself in a party of ppl with Relic/Relic +1, somes of them might be rater impatient, and when you get a MNK who combo for 600/800+ dmg, or a BLM who do his rotation perfectly to unload 1600-2k+ damages (I saw it O.o) your overpower make you come out of breath very fast.

For my own part, I really hope SE will give us somes Raging rush/King Justice or rampage" because yes, the MRD NPC made me sign up for devastation and carnage...
