Perfection Fixed, but Nerfed ><

Nice, apprantly Perfection has been fixed recently where it never fails, as advertised. Unfortunately, without question, SE has nerfed the % it now takes effect. This almost always took effect, but now I've had it fail to take effect as often as 8/10 times, which is extremely lame for a 12K guild marks purchased ability. I'd estimate, at best this takes affect similar to Grandmastery, which has a considerable fail rate. ><

I've had it fail to take effect maybe 3 times in hundreds of uses.

OK, I've done some more testing on this, and I started to log the results, but it really isn't necessary. I would say SE has nerfed this to the point where there is a 50% chance of taking effect, which is very disappointing and disturbing. This is a 12K guild marks purchase ability that can be used, at most, once per synth, and very often means the difference between success and failure in the synth.

When I first reported this as broken, on occasion, the ability would take effect and the synth attempt would fail, but only rarely would the effect not take effect. I'd estimate maybe 1/20 times or so, just an estimate, no emphirical data.

My major gripe with synthing in this game is the very large RNG and non causality in the coding, i.e. - not enough of a direct relationship of skills vs. target synth. For example, experiencing the same fail rate (or sometimes greater) on a particular recipe @ R47 as you did on the same synth @ R42.

This ninja nerfing of this ability only adds to this randomness, and quite frankly SE, shame on you ><

Honestly Eli, you can't throw fire at things when you have no solid evidence that you are right or wrong. As with all crafting, it is a chance, not a certainty, and as such you should not get so over the top about these kinds of things.

OK, allow me to temper this to some extent. So far in today's crafting session, this isn't failing to take effect to the extent it was last night. However, this I can say with certainty - SE has changed this so that it doesn't fail anymore when it does take effect (that's a good thing), and the extent to which it fails to take effect has been dramatically increased, under some circumstances or conditions (that's a bad thing). Whether it be related to moon or day element, or moon/phase or some combination, thereof, I don't know, and my apologies to the board for jumping to a straight 'this fails to take effect 50% of the time' conclusion on this, because this isn't the case.

Vahz - I've used Perfection for 14 ranks on carpenter from 36-50, and as many levels or more on my weaver and leather. I think I might have some remote idea how this worked before, and how it's working now. We're talking thousands and thousands of synths here, and never during that entire stint of grinding did I experience, even remotely, the extent of failure to take effects that I do now. Now I need to figure out if there is any direct corrlation with these failures, and other conditions, or if it's just further randomness in an already too random crafting system.

Have most of your fails been on materials and/or parts? Most of the other 1-time use abilities have a high failure rate if they're not being used on synths they favor.

It's simple. If you're low rank Perfection won't take effect as much as it does for its optimal rank. Using it on something it's not most effective for won't help either.

Hmm i also do have perfection and yes i do notice that it tends to fail to take effect sometimes. However i have a very strange feeling as to how it works now. 9/10 times which i use perfection it does work but when it seems to tend fail to take effect under certain situation.

I can't quite explain how it works now, guess i need to do some more testing before i can finally come up with something realistic.

Also don't forget your elemental stats make a huge difference. For example, Sweat of Brow procs once in 10-15 attempts with low lightning, but juice it up to over 100 and chuck on some lightning gear too, and that little badboy is proccing every attempt.

For now, I'm going to assume that Airlea is a genius, and I'm the village idiot lol.

Almost exclusively, I've used Perfection in crp for masks (finished product), and the majority, by far of the lth and wvr leves I've done have also been finished goods. When this was failing to take effect so badly the other evening, I was grinding fleece and leather on my lth. While I haven't had a chance to test this out, this could very well be the problem. After some sheepskin farming and next grind session, I'll report back.

If this is, in fact, the case, there is a huge difference between the two.

Really? How did you figure out Sweat of Brow was lightning based? It doesn't make much sense.

Look at all the gathering icons, they all correspond to the colour of the crystal they are modified by.

I have yet to see Perfection not work for "Finished Items" both in activating and actually creating successes. I tested this on a variety of different crafts with both stable and unstable orb conditions, even with bold synths on unstables(still worked). As for why it isn't working for some people perhaps they are producing parts or materials, in which case it doesn't surprise me an either or type ability would not work.
