Yes. Also, lasers.
Cecil was a dark knight and fought his inner self and became a Paladin. This is probably what he is referring to. If he is referring Arthus who was a Paladin and became a Death Knight...wrong game dude try again.
not to nitpick but... ah forget it. The OP means Dark Knight *coughFFIVcough*. Yes, FFXI had dark knights. Yes, they had a love/hate relationship like FFXIV DRG. As with anything with the rumor mill, it's ALL rumors until Square makes it official. Just keep an eye on the FFXIV Lodestone for all the info. ^^
Snarky Jerk? My mistake for typing VI instead of IV. Please, please forgive me! D:
Not sure why there is so much hostility here today, even more than usual. To the OP and anyone else in this thread I wasn't trying to be an @sshat or anything, I would just prefer to keep FF as far away from WoW as possible, even if it is just a misunderstanding. Dark Knights are awesome, Death Knights are not. :P
This does seem to be the most logical way they'd be implemented, however no job crystal has changed your weapon yet, so it remains to be seen if they would be using Scythes or not. They'll most likely be spawned from Marauder, Lancer, or maybe even Glad, depending what they wanna do with the class.
You all know damn well the guy meant Dark Knight.
Folk are so quick to jump on others.
Warrior will probably become a Dark Knight in the future with a BLM/THM requirement. So a 50 warrior with a 15 thm just puts on a crystal and poof their a dark knight that wields a scythe and casts dark magic like Bio, Blood Bath, HP leeching stuff, and melee buffs.
Yeah I'm not sure how they will implement dark knight if it uses a scythe. It would have to be a new base job that branches into other things. Or they could make it so you can't equip the Scythe until you've equiped the sole stone for a darknight and still base it off warrior.
Or they could make it so Warrior's can use 2h axes and Scythes but allt he scythes will have DPS stats.
Dark Knight's "primary" was always a Greatsword. The iconic weapons Deathbringer/Chaosbringer were greatswords. So we can all safely assume that DRK will use greatswords.
FFIII (JP FF3) & FFIV & FFT(PSP) & FFTA & FFX-2 (JP references as Dark Knight) & FFXI
- Going bit extreme -
FFDissidia Cecil starts off as Dark Knight :p
FF Legends
FF Brigade
Chocobo's Dungeon
Ah true, they refrence Leon as Dark Knight in JP after he gets taken away /nod
There's nothing from a system standpoint that is stopping SE from giving jobs their own weapon type. Right now if you equip any job specific weapons it automatically turns your job crystal on. So really, there's nothing stopping them from introducing a Great Sword or Scythe weapon that's DRK only and still having the job branch from Gladiator or Marauder.
I'd actually encourage SE to break this mold for the future.
Wtb DRK

We already have the (WoW)Death Knight. They just called it the Warrior for some reason.
What I'd like to see though, is the actual Warrior job.
I wonder if it'll be a tank or dps....or both!
The way I see it, Dark Knight would be the job while the class most likely be akin to Lanista from FF Tactics A2.
Dark knight will most likely be gladiator job.
Highly doubtful. Marauder doesn't use great swords. It will require a new class.Quote:
Dark Knight will most likely come off of MRD, like WAR does
good to know its possible :):)
It could easily go either way. I'd honestly only be surprised if a new class showed up with DRK as its job.
Yes, Dark Knight has typically been a one-hand sword and shield user in almost every FF they appear in.
But, there are a lot of throwbacks to FFXI in the game, so they could very well make it a 2-hander again.
However, I think the plan for second jobs will be toward making the two jobs in opposition, or giving a different role. This favors Gladiator as it gives them a plausible role change to DPS. Marauder/WAR, on the other hand, is already too close to DPS in implementation. It wouldn't be very interesting to do the same thing but with more damage and less damage mitigation. I'd expect Marauder's second job to be DPS in a different way, possibly as either a pet class with Beastmaster or off-caster with Geomancer.
Gladiator: Paladin or Dark Knight
Marauder: Warrior or Berserker/viking
i hope it can use 2 hand swords
dark knight should be two hand sword 'A'r so old class no thank give me new class 'A'
If any CLASS Becomes a DARK KNIGHT, it wouldn't be Marauder, but Gladiator. It would be a DD Gladiator Job... Dark Knights use SWORDS AND SHIELDS, not Axes.
DRK in FFXI did not use shield at all. He *could* use axes and great axes, although his rating in those was low enough that you generally wanted to stick to scythes and great swords. His rating in single-handed swords (the type GLD uses) was no better than that for axes and great axes (B- for all three).
