Archer DPS DoTs

Alright so I've scoured the internet and just can't find an answer to this. When using Venomous Bite and Windbite, I've noticed that it gets "Fully Resisted" at times even though the shot initial damage actually lands. This only really happens on super long boss fights. So there's two thoughts I have to this:
1. It's the version of a "miss" to these dots.
2. There is a diminishing returns on my DoTs so to speak, so I have to wait for x time to lapse before I can re-apply them.

Mind you the resists usually happen on the 4th cycle rotation.

I just tested this in a dungeon... I do believe it was because of buffs making the DoT too strong to overwrite... to prevent this, you can let the DoT completely expire then re-apply.

It is because, typically, you used some buffs and applied your first dots, then your buffs go down, DOTs are still running, but you try to apply them again. The thing is, you can only refresh DOTS that will be >= to the DOTS you already applied to ur target, else you will indeed see the "fully resisted" thing.

Like Charas said, buffed DoTs can't be overridden... I always watch for a DoT to be at 2 seconds before queuing a refresh so that it goes back on as soon as it drops off. However, if you don't queue each spell up through the next refresh, you risk losing the proper timing and have to wait for the DoT to wear off.

Am I the only one who thinks it's #1? I don't have any problem re-applying it in low-level mobs, this only happens to me when fighthing Primals.

Thank you for that post. That explains something I have been wondering about. This has been happening to me lately on dungeon runs when I try to reapply the dots. I was thinking it was a bug or something I wasn't catching.

Hmm I don't remember using any buffs when this happened, because typically I save my CD's for the end of the boss. But I will double check this on my next dungeon.

You should never save your CDs, pop them all whenever they're up.

Start with quelling, or, wait until the first rage.

If you pull off the tank after the first rage of hallone something is wrong with your tank D=

Well, never is too strong of a word. Don't use BfB during damage phases such as stomps in Titan HM.

The dots suffer no diminishing returns. Buffed dots can not be overridden unless using another buffed dot. The best way to reapply the dots is to wait for the dot to completely drop from the target before you reapply it. Since the dot will tick one last time right before it drops.

You shouldn't be missing in the lower levels unless you are fighting monsters 4+ levels compared to you.

Don't apply attacks during Primal immunity phases (when most of them cast their special abilities they are generally immune to all types of attacks for a second or two).
