Archer DPS DoTs

Alright so I've scoured the internet and just can't find an answer to this. When using Venomous Bite and Windbite, I've noticed that it gets "Fully Resisted" at times even though the shot initial damage actually lands. This only really happens on super long boss fights. So there's two thoughts I have to this:
1. It's the version of a "miss" to these dots.
2. There is a diminishing returns on my DoTs so to speak, so I have to wait for x time to lapse before I can re-apply them.

Mind you the resists usually happen on the 4th cycle rotation.

I just tested this in a dungeon... I do believe it was because of buffs making the DoT too strong to overwrite... to prevent this, you can let the DoT completely expire then re-apply.
